Hi everyone, not had the chance to post much lately! How is everyone?
Gig - I'm not great at films (though the facebook one pirate mentioned is Social Networking) - have you looked up any of those 100 films you must see type lists? They're always popping up on my facebook. I'm currently enjoying Once Upon a Time and Revenge on tv just now for my american froth fix. I hope it goes ok this week (well, as ok as it can be). Looking forward to food updates from you!
I can't believe the long school holidays you're all faced with - I gather all your DC were in school pre-schools rather than private nursery pre-school then? DS will go to nursery right up until next August when he starts school. Are your pre-schools finishing earlier than the regular school term? Although I'm quite glad DS doesn't start until next year I'm slightly
that you've all got this exciting new chapter to look forward to!
DS's birthday celebrations went well - although some major flooding meant that we were very late to the pirate party (half an hour to go a 5 minute car journey) but the whole city was gridlocked so everyone else was really late too! At one point I thought we might only have about 3 guests (which would have been fine in the circumstances) but thankfully everyone persevered and arrived eventually. We still finished at the same time, but I think everyone had been there long enough to enjoy themselves anyway.
DS and I had a lovely lazy day yesterday where we just played with all his new presents which was really nice. Not a single tantrum! He got a geomag set which was fab - perfect rainy day present for little people who like to try and figure things out. We've started buying some 'first encyclopedia' and 'see inside books' (from Usborne) so we were looking up what magnets are and how they work and he loved seeing how the magnets reacted etc. Can recommend both the toy and the books to anyone if they've not come across them before - good for rainy days. Our local costco has the 'see inside sport' book cheap so I'm going to get that for the olympics.
Deb - glad you enjoyed Wimbledon. I've been once before - it was a brilliant day out! How did you get your tickets by the way? The IL's were saying they would like to go, but I wasn't sure about the ticket buying methods because mine were freebies when I went.
Amazed also at the thought of a class of 6! P1 (same as R or Y1) class sizes here are strictly controlled by law and there is a complete shortage of places - combination of school closures and failure to plan ahead for birth boom in the city. There will be no out of catchment placements for the next few years.
