Getting exciting now Grin Wink!

OP posts:
Gigondas · 27/03/2012 14:17

Think ga (but only for little bit) as its awkward to fit. Which is shame as effects longer to get over . But am hopeful will fix wound issue.

DizzyDancing · 27/03/2012 21:27

Fingers crossed Gig, you don't want any delay in the radio if at all possible.

Funny day at work today: went to a meeting today with one of the most patronising headteachers I've ever encountered - in his office he had a 2 1/2 foot tall portrait of him and his family posed on a bench Shock! The most bizarre thing I've ever seen in an HT's office Grin. He was very annoying and endlessly upset the parents while I was trying to smooth things over Hmm.

I'm missing the boys a bit at the moment (can't win can I Blush) so really looking forward to the Easter holidays Smile. DS1 is now getting really really excited about starting school which is brilliant as it's going to be such a wrench for me, so it will be lovely to be carried along by his enthusiasm Smile. He was telling us about some basic addition he's been doing today when we were having dinner and he was so proud of himself - very sweet Smile.

Right, better catch up on my emails!

Gigondas · 27/03/2012 21:37

That's a badge of mad . I really would make millions from my "what you can tell about people from offices /desks" . Big posed family photos IMe= 1. Egotist2. Someone who prob isn't the family man they make out.

Sorry you are missing boys but nice ds is keen on school.

Really hope tomorrow sorts it (have faith in my surgeon) as it really is a pain in the arse in every way Grin

DizzyDancing · 27/03/2012 21:51

Grin I did say to the team when I got back to the office that the HT's office was big but we all had to squash in around his ego Grin! He really is an arse - and I have to have a lot of dealings with him much to my boss' amusement! Smile

Hope op all goes smoothly x

TheScottishPlayer · 27/03/2012 21:54

Ditto the badge of mad view. WTF????

That's nice re: school excitement though obvs I think they should all wait another year so that DS isn't left out Grin DS is really interested in letters and numbers just now so while I'm glad that he's not going to school this year I can see that I'm going to be VERY bored of phonics by the time he does!

He wants to know when he's seeing his new friends 'the boys' again Grin

Gig - I'm glad you're getting the op if it helps sort things out quickly and keep your treatment on track. One less thing you could do with though I'm sure.

Still sunny up here - two days I've spent in a windowless basement on a course though Sad

Gigondas · 27/03/2012 22:06

Boo re being in basement.

It's good tho Scottish if ds keen and gets stuck in to his numbers etc. we had talk aimed at pushy mums about how important it is not to rush letters/rhyming as need to have firm grip on letter and sounds to help reading.

Will let you know how it goes. Are any of you lot addicted to draw something?

TheScottishPlayer · 27/03/2012 22:14

Yeah, definitely trying not to push it and leave it up to DS to lead. I've got some phonics stuff which is easy for him to access and get out. What he really loves though is some wipe clean letters/numbers books we have. He sits with them for ages.

What is this draw thing? I've seen it mentioned but don't know what it is. Is it more of an iPad than iPhone thing?

Gigondas · 27/03/2012 22:46

It both and mega addictive if you are pants with letters With friends type things. You draw things and other people have to guess.always up for more online friends to play with Grin

DizzyDancing · 28/03/2012 22:03

You must come and see us again soon then SP Smile.

I was listening to someone on Radio 4 talking about Draw Something yesterday - happy to join in if you tell me what I need to do Grin!

Gigondas · 28/03/2012 22:12

Ohh - buy the app then search for my email (or hardandsleazy). It's addictive.

Did you see the apprentice?

Op went better than expected - I do have a drain in for a few days (awkward) but not a vac so wound better than I thought. Lovely to be home even if limited in activity til It comes out (prob early next week).

Dd2 very cute and chatty at the minute .

Gigondas · 29/03/2012 07:03

Waiting patiently for other saddos to join her and play draw something .

DizzyDancing · 31/03/2012 00:14

I'v bought the app but can't work out how to search for your email!

TheScottishPlayer · 31/03/2012 10:25

I've now joined draw something! Gig have sent you a game (I don't know what I'm doing though). My user name is v similar to an old MN name of mine beginning with 'keep'

Gigondas · 31/03/2012 10:59

Have got both your game invites. It's most addictive ESP when you are house bound attached to a drain.

Clean up went well on weds (although Post anaesthetic come down/fatigue was yuck) so stuck with drain in pottering at home til early Next week.

TheScottishPlayer · 31/03/2012 11:05

I'm playing with you Gig. But I think I started game before setting a username. What was wrong with my apron drawing? Grin

TheScottishPlayer · 31/03/2012 11:06

Sorry, also glad everything went well on Wed. We'll keep you company with your pottering on draw something!

Gigondas · 31/03/2012 11:40

I thought it was trousers Wink.

Am grimly fascinated now with my drain now.

Dd1 got a bad case of end of term/cold and is very grumpy today . Could be a log day

Gigondas · 31/03/2012 11:40

Long even

TheScottishPlayer · 31/03/2012 11:44

Ah, I've figured out how to do thin lines. Fab.

disguisedeb · 01/04/2012 09:03

Happy April Fools day, Mumsnet had me there, for a couple of minutes I believed, it, how gullible am I?

Hello to you all, I can catchup now it's the Easter holidays. So I will have a quick skim and see what I've missed. Hope you are all OK.

disguisedeb · 01/04/2012 09:22

Gig, sorry to hear about the pus porn, but glad to know that you have the drain now, fingers crossed that it's sorted and doesn't delay the radiotherapy. Don't have iphone or ipad here, androids instead so can't join your draw thing. Sad

Scottish - I was thinking about you when they said how warm it was in Scotland, what a bugger that you were in a basement.(sounds a bit weird when you read that back)

LaG - how was skiing, am jealous, we didn't get there this year but we are trying to get to Austria for 3 weeks in the summer, can't wait.

Dizzy, OMG, I can't believe that head. The school I'm working in at the mo, the head has an ugly sister dressing up dress on the back of her door, and there's wine and chocolate in the fridge for emergencies. It's a great school but I am knackered. Leaving home at 7.15 and getting back at 6, then working after boys have gone to bed (which isn't until 9 for Stefan) until midnight , preparing for the next day. I still don't know how long I'm there for, it's becomne a union issue with the teacher I'm covering so it's not good.I miss my boys too Dizzy, especially Ethan as I spent so much time with him before, but saying that it's been great for his relationship with Nigel. He's not so much a Mummy's boy now.

Now I can think of other things, I am looking for accommodation near Wimbledon for July, anyone got any ideas? Relatives with spare rooms? Hotels are so expensive, unless we opt for travelodge again, which is fine but it's just quite a distance from Wimbledon.

Other news here, been Stefan's Birthday on Friday, he's now 12 and taller than me Shock and I'm 5 foot 6!! We've got a giant in the house, with a giant appetite as well., wish I could eat so much and be so thin!

OK, That's enough from me, hope you are all enjoying a restful Sunday, don't think I've said welcome back to the UK Mudwiggle, hope you're enjoying life back in the UK.Any pangs for NZ?

TheScottishPlayer · 01/04/2012 21:02

Welcome back Deb! I was wondering how you are. Glad you're enjoying working. I had a little Smile at the early starts and not getting home until after 6, then working after 9pm. It sounded vaguely familiar Grin

Not too much to report on here - fairly quiet weekend catching up on chores and missing out on the last of the lovely Spring heatwave. We're expecting snow this weekend . DH will be away much of the week so I'm hoping it stays in the hills. DS very enthusiastically planted a blueberry plant and some other things last weekend - I'm not convinced they'll survive the drop in temperature.

I've also dusted off the textbooks this weekend as the mad panic sets in for what will hopefully be my final exam. I swore I'd be really organised for this one, but no, last minute as usual. Instead of having MN to distract me this time though, Gig has me hooked on draw something which we've been playing all weekend. It's all Dizzy's fault - if she hadn't mentioned it on fb again then I would have forgotten about for a little while at least

I'll be glad when the exam is over then I can concentrate on our 'stay cation' - basically a trip to the Midlands and the North West. It will include a trip to ThomasLand at Drayton Manor which DS will love! This is our alternative to a summer holiday as we're trying to save to help facilitate a move in a year or two (having decided def not to try and sell the house this year). We've got various free accommodation lined up which DH won and a long forgotten stash of tesco club card vouchers will provide us with a week's worth of days out. Win win.

This week we're off to the cbeebies live show. Had I known though that the much cheaper Gruffalo would be on here this week I wouldn't have forked out. I'm sure DS will love it (even though his affection is firmly with Disney Jnr these days.

Going back to phonics which I mentioned a while ago - we've now discovered the Alphablocks section on the cbeebies website with lots of interactive games. DS loves it and for the most part can play away quite happily on it his own. It's quite intuitive so worth a look if it's likely to appeal to any of your DC.

Right, time to put my feet up with a wee beer I think!

Gigondas · 01/04/2012 21:27

Will keep off drawing if it helps Grin. Snow isn't good tho.

Nice to hear from you Deb- stefan is 12!!! Wow

Wound healing slower than I would like and have nanny issues. She is off with bad back . I am Torn between sympathy and stress (Childcare with a drain in no joke) . ESP as claiming its due to carrying the buggy up our steps (I asked her not to bump it after dh freaked over 120 quid of repairs to our old one.... I hasten to add I don't expect her to do it with kids in it and Its a light buggy). Tbh I don't know what to do and she is really adding to my stress levels (even when here there have been issues).

Gigondas · 01/04/2012 21:29

Scottish have FB messaged you as wanted your advice

TheScottishPlayer · 01/04/2012 21:53

Hope advice helped - fb me if there's anything else. Tough situation for you.
