Hello hello! Here I am with good intentions to behave and show up to some meet ups since I utterly failed in 2011! Grin

So we need ideas for daytime meets and of course we must not forget our night time meets Wink

Daytime Ideas
Beamish
Saltwell Park, Gateshead
The Giants Den, Team Valley
Botanic Gardens
Beach (in the summer of course, unless we want airborne children!)

Okay so ideas for January daytime, I think cake is definitely in order so I propose the one that's next to Ebony, the huge place, down some steps, uhh... Slug & Lettuce is it? CAKE!

January night time? Is this something we want to plan? I know we're always poor after Christmas!

Hm, no everyone I know in Gilesgate/Durham city has finished feeding. I have a colleague wit ha small person but I don't know what she's doing. Maybe you could put details on a poster at St Giles church for any new mums at their LittleLights group?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/05/2012 17:06

I can never have cocktails due to always driving :(
But hopefully DD will cope for one night away from me so I can have cocktails in honour of Indith's 30th next year, I could stay overnight in Durham!

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 03/05/2012 19:33

We could all stay overnight. Leave the children/husbands to fend for themselves while we sleep do drinking, dancing and other things than people do when they don't have small children to deal with the next morning.

Indith · 03/05/2012 20:00

That's not real life. That's a fantasy novel.

You know we won't actually go dancing don't you. We will have cocktails, have a meal, natter round the table about where to go next for more cocktails/dancing, complain that the music is too loud in bars these days then at 10.30 decide it is too late for any of that and it would be a waste of sleep and go find our hotel beds. But if we did all stay over we'd get to meet in the morning for breakfast in Leonards :)

juneybean · 03/05/2012 22:13

Ooo I had really delicious cocktails the other day at Liberty Brown in Sunderland but tis too far for you lovely ladies I suspect!

But I'm up for a curry!

Still sounds good Indith Grin. By morning you do mean 11:59 right?

T much better last night. Woke at 9 but went back with a pat from Daddy. Then 12, 5:30 and up at 6:30. Which is good news as there is a retirement do at work I want to go to tonight and now I can go without feeling guilty that I'm leaving Daddy with a grumpy boy. Woo hoo!

Indith · 04/05/2012 09:50

Hurrah for sleep!

Ah sleep. I remember a time when I had sleep. Why did I have another baby again?

11.59 if it is a Sunday morning. 10.59 for a Saturday. I need poached eggs and panchetta.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 05/05/2012 19:22

It would have been a good night sleepwise last night if I hadn't had a lot bit too much red wine. Good night out though Grin

You had another baby because your memory is defective they are lovely and snuggly.

juneybean · 08/05/2012 12:54

I really like the beamish/no place house, went to see it on Saturday and it's spacious and doesn't need much done to it (a couple of windows need double glazed, wiring might need a look at) so I'm thinking of offering £50k but once again my brother is moaning he didn't like the area because some windows had been put out in the street.

Gah what do I do??

OP posts:
Indith · 08/05/2012 13:04

Ask your brother for the extra 50k so you can afford somewhere he does like?

No? You don't think he'd go for that?

I don't know. Check it out carefully, ask neighbours, is there are group or park you can take your charges to? Always good places for getting honest opinions but if you llike it then go for it.

I hate feeding a snotty baby. Can't latch, hardly feeds so I'm bursting, gulps lots of air so spends all night farting and when he sicks up it is full of mucus. Lovely. Children tag teaming last night, I am very short of temper. My inner fishwife will emerge soon. And I have a headache. moan moan moan self centred moan moany moan.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 08/05/2012 14:12

Visit the area at different times of the day (and night). If you go at 9pm and it gives you the heebie jeebies then it would be a definite no-no. Local papers for tales of trouble. Gossip- local shops and, like Indith said, the park. Does he know the area or judging on the windows? My mother's village has a house with put out windows- it is down to a personal vendetta- the rest of the village is lovely Grin

Poor A. And poor Indith. Snotty babies are evil. If it is any consolation I was fishwife mummy yesterday. Luckily it was bank holiday so I was sent for a lie down by DH. T finished his antibiotics and promptly spiked a temp again last night. I am going to claim on the warranty, do you think I can get replacement parts for him?

Am hoping that his constant feeds have stopped my cycle again. After the jokes about staying away from DH in April I am 4 days late Shock. I have peed on numerous sticks and all negative but it is not good for my stress levels!

Indith · 08/05/2012 14:22

Spiggy think about it a minute. Put him on freecycle, rather easier than sending him back Grin.

Shock at your need to poas! Hope it remains negative, surely it is just your cycle being bodged up, it can't be all that regular yet can it?

He's asleep again, dd has watched tv since she came home from nursery. Urgh. Course hr sleep study is supposed to be tomorrow, doubt her cold will have gone by then

VikingLady · 08/05/2012 14:25

The mucus vomit is lurvely... And our Boots doesn't stock nasal aspirators. Doctor gave us saline drops which make the snot trickle down the back of V's throat whilst feeding, leading to more mucus vomit and even mucus nappies - never expected that! Cold is worse this week. I've ordered an aspirator online.

I thought Big Boob (large enough to merit capitals) would pop last night. Too full for her to latch on this morning.... As if she wasn't finding it all hard enough. I wanna healthy baby! This is [s]not what I signed up for!

Juney - there is a website where you can check crime figures against the national average for a specific street or postcode. Maybe you could check that? I can't remember the website though, so not a lot of use. Sorry.

Indith · 08/05/2012 14:29

You can just squirt saline/milk up her nose then suck it out yourself. Vom inducing but effective. Ds never likes the right much but at the moment I can't persuade him to to feed from it at all, there is a glass of milk waiting for ds1 to come come from school!

You'll get your healthy baby soon viking and she will seem all the sweeter :) then it will get to winter again.

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 08/05/2012 14:57

I've always gone back to regular straight away. I've only ever been late before when upduffed. But he has been feeding hourly at night for the vast majority of the month and that has got to have an effect hasn't it? hasn't it?!!! please say yes DH being remarkably calm about it. I am not. I HAVE PLANS FOR CHRISTMAS! On the plus side the house is lovely and clean, I have made cake and bread. displacement activity has a lot to say for it Grin.

Viking- try and keep her upright as much as poss- if she does go in a cot to sleep then put a pillow under her mattress so her head is raised slightly. It helps drain everything out. Nice steamy bath as well (I never figured out how to bathe babies on their own- they were always in with me and loved a nice hot bath rather than the suitable-for-babies temp that they are supposed to have.) The effect doesn't last long but anything that gives them some relief and gets a feed in them has got to be good. I have a lot of experience with snotty children Grin they are all defective in the nose department

Hope D gets her sleep study in. Will they not take her if she's sniffy or do you not want to send her?

Did we have plans to go shopping soon? I need some new clothes!

Indith · 08/05/2012 15:01

Oh yeah I forgot about that, I resorted to ebay instead! Can do though.

Must go get the boy. Ho hum.

Thy won't take her if she has a cold, won't give a true result (though I'd quite like to show her to them now and say "see? this is not normal for a cold, you can't see her throat!"). will see what she is like bin the morning.

Stop stressing, give it a couple more days bfore you piss on any more sticks.

StealthPolarBear · 08/05/2012 16:20

Sorry to hear abt all ill children :(
Is the website upmystreet?
people still on for the 15th?
spiggy, is it bad I'm a little bit excited?

Indith · 08/05/2012 16:28

You sure you should be stopping at 2 SPB? Wink

Yes to 15th! How is the grand walk going or do you not get updated?

spiffysquiffyspiggy · 08/05/2012 18:44

a. couple. of. days???? I don't understand. If I have sticks I must pee on them. If I don't have sticks I have to find some. At least til a result is in one way or t'other. My name is spiggy and I have a poas obsession. Blush

Am 99% sure that I am not. But I am also 1% paranoid Grin

SPB- I think you should have another. Do you not know all the really cool people are having 3 now?

I'm up for the 15th, did we decide where?

Indith · 08/05/2012 19:22

I have a spare stick from the pack I bought when I got pg with ds2 it is waiting for me to actually start having sex again when I shall become paranoid each and every month until AF arrives. If cycles have not started again when sex happens my paranoia shall know no bounds until it does.

I'd say dh needs to get snipped but those can fail so I expect I'd still be paranoid.

StealthPolarBear · 08/05/2012 20:03

Noooo I am not a parent of 3! You have to be good at it to manage that
(parenting btw, not creating babies in the first place :))

StealthPolarBear · 08/05/2012 20:05

Walk is going fine, he has a blister so at least knows where to put the compeed. Kids staying with granny tonight which is good as its less obvious to them that were both not around :( then when I pick them up tomorrow they have me until dh gets back. Woo hoo :)

juneybean · 08/05/2012 21:40

We could do a collective POAS although I expect to get a million dollar deal if mine is positive Confused
