Scottish Christmas Meet-up: Any takers?

The Scottish MNers are not always the most prolific at organising meet-ups, but we do usually manage to do so at Christmas.

In the absence of the normal suckers suspects who put their heads above the paprapet and volunteer to organise it, I thought I'd see if there was any interest :)

We've normally had it in Edinburgh - us Weegies seem happy to start the celebarations early on the train over Wink - but I'm open to suggestions.

Fairylights, I went to my first meet-up last year, and though I was nervous, it was great :-).
Everyone was very nice and chatty, and it was just a lovely, relaxed evening.

I liked last year's place too (am on a bit of a budget).

WhollyGhost · 28/11/2011 22:03

DAMN, tonight I realised that there is a family thing on that night that I can't get out of, so I won't be able to make it.

But if there is a Glasgow meet up in January, I'll definitely be there.

PacificDogwood · 29/11/2011 18:32

I am just back to this thread and v v unreaonsably excited about a meet-up in Glasgow in the New Year. Count me in.

Pah, who needs a Great Big Public Holiday to meet up Grin?

prettybird · 29/11/2011 19:49

Oops - I went away and forgot about this.... Blush

So, it looks like the 10th - and then another do in January/February across in Glasgow.

Are people happy with Whighams again (if I can get a reservation)? Their Christmas meal looks good menu here - costs £30 for dinner.

So - what about numbers?

So far, I can see

FromGirders
StewieGriffinsMom
Prettybird
Fairylights
TheButterlfyEffect
SDTG
WorkinProgress?
HelvetatheBold

Could people please add/subtract their name and copy and paste so that we can firm up on numbers. Looks like a small select few this year - not like the big London piss-up Christmans meet-up. Hopefully there will be a few more takers but we've left it quite late this year.

BethelBeth - we've always managed to get to the train even when we have been pissed and the trip across is quite fun. Last year I took a took a bottle of Cava and some mini spanakopita so we could get into the festive spirit on the way :) didin't need any lubrication on the way back

Hi there
Sorry - not going to be able to make Saturday night, next year I'll make it ( or earlier meet up if there is one)! Have a great night.

prettybird · 06/12/2011 17:24

I think we've missed the boat with confirming arrangements for one this year. Maybe we should put our efforts into sorting out a meet-up early in the New Year?

@Tis a pity, 'cos I enjoyed the Weegie mini piss-up meet-up on the train on the way over. Xmas Confused

A new year meet up sounds good. Would be nice to have something to look forward to. Maybe next year we should try for an earlier Xmas meet up like the southern lot. I think we all just get too busy nearer Christmas !

Oh no!
I have a house without children or husband on Saturday night.
I need to go out!
Or does anyone want to come to my house to play?

FromGirders · 06/12/2011 21:15

But alternatively, New Year is good too.

FromGirders · 06/12/2011 22:07

Well, if anyone still fancies Saturday night (anyone?) I'll be heading to Whighams late afternoon / early evening, and I'll be dragging TheButterflyEffect along too. Do come along and join us - we'll be the two women cackling merrily in a corner.

PacificDogwood · 06/12/2011 22:11

Oh, eggsellent Grin!! I am in for a New Year's meet-up - Glasgow or Edinburgh

Have fun, FromGirders and TheButterflyEffect Smile.

I'll still come to a New Year's meet up obviously!
SGM - will be lovely to see you again :)

KRITIQ · 06/12/2011 23:44

My brain is so mushy at the moment, I completely forgot about this! WIll look out for word of anything in the new year. I've got a feeling Saturday evening is out, but until I sleep on it, I probably won't remember why. Will look at this tomorrow when I'm awake! :)

prettybird · 07/12/2011 12:53

I'll see if I can make it Saturday.....

.... as dh is going to go on a coaches' pub crawl have a couple of rinks with his fellow coaches on Sunday after the Glasgow Warriors Heineken Cup game against Montpellier, I may be in luck.

We should see if STDG is avaiabel too - she was keen early on.
