Hope this works, a shiny new thread girls - come on in Smile.

OP posts:
WhatWouldLeoDo · 08/08/2011 21:09

I've been meaning to post today but glued to BBC news 24 and Twitter.

Gastonladybird · 08/08/2011 21:30

Yes - not good Sad my sister lives in camberwell and sent me photo of police vans blocking her road.

WhatWouldLeoDo · 08/08/2011 21:39

Is she ok? Had a friend abandon flat earlier in the evening (lived on one of the streets shown on tv earlier with rioters). Feel awful for those affected.

Mudwiggle · 09/08/2011 06:30

Same here, spent all day (your night) watching bbc news and following twitter. Kicked off less than ten mins walk away from our London flat. Friend with 2 DDs watched as looters ran down their street with tvs and stuff having looted Colliers Wood. Sad

Sad at all the racism and "deserved after Iraq/Afghanistan/former colony" crap cropping up now.

Where was your friend Leo?

disguisedeb · 09/08/2011 13:58

Hi all, got back from our london trip last night.so glad to have missed the trouble.we got on the train as they were advising people to leave the streets.we had been staying near clapham junction, and that's where it kicked of last night

LaGuerta · 09/08/2011 17:21

Quick wave. Both kids covered in tea. Try to come back later.

StitchingMoss · 09/08/2011 20:01

We're in sunny Callander watching the news with increasing incredulity Sad.

Gastonladybird · 09/08/2011 20:02

Awful isn't it? Sad

WhatWouldLeoDo · 09/08/2011 21:25

Evening all. This is just dreadful isn't it? Glad that you got out of London before the worst of the riots Deb - did you have a good trip? My friend was in Hackney Mudwiggle, but had friends in Colliers Wood too.

Hope you're having a good time in Scotland Stitching - did I see on fb that you went to Blair Drummond today? Hope you all enjoyed it.

Busy weekend here - birthday parties, friends, Thomas day out and a bit of festival fun with DS yesterday. We went to see the Stick Man - DS loved it. I bumped into someone I knew who'd just been to Hairy McLairy Stitching and they said it was very good.

WhatWouldLeoDo · 10/08/2011 23:59

My turn to kill the thread!

Mudwiggle · 11/08/2011 09:13

Deb - Thank goodness you got out in time. Hope you managed to have a good trip anyway.

Stitching - My Gran used to live in Callendar. I have very fond memories of a trip up there when I was about six. Hope you're having fun.

Leo - Hope everyone ok. Very jealous if all your festival fun, I am every year, gonna have to go next year. Hairy McLairy books drive me mad, but DS1 loves them... Same with Thomas books, he is going to love a Thomas day out when we get back.

I've been diagnosed with hypermobility which is why I'm having so much back pain apparently. It would appear the solution is to become superfit. Hmm Wish me luck with that! I have been doing DS1 squats and DS2 tricep dips today. Grin

Gastonladybird · 11/08/2011 19:39

Mud wiggle- anything more useful than get fit on your back? Am off to physio as have achy left hip and hurts if sit down on hard seats not unbearable (know stitching had a hard time) but don't want it getting worse and am very conscious of lack of exercise.

Also I love stickman but hate hairy mcclary. Dd went to see tiger who came to tea at theatre which was very popular.

One week to go to camping trip- am hoping weather holds and I domt regret trip with my mother and step dad on top of that.

Oh and need to bite my tongue so will vent here re nanny(who I should add I am in the main grateful to have as is reliable kind and e loves her) but have spent a lot of ti,e with her lately as at home more and some minor things have irritated me.

Like every other word is "bless"(eg look at that oh bless, e is so cute oh bless) - and it make my teeth itch (not least if e says it but not heard it yer). How can I explain to a well meaning but not bright woman to stop saying it as it is basically my prejudice? Also her chatty ways means talks over me- so far I bite my Tongue but doubt I will when off on ml(started thread for tips).

The last one trickier - occasionally e will fall or bump herself and cry and want a cuddle. Not unusual but nanny will jump In to cuddle her (again brill as right thing to do and I like ghat is her instinct/e loves her). However if I am there I would rather do that (ESP on one occasion where e wanted me but nanny comforted her and said leave it - reason being were trying to settle e so would go swimming at.p a lesson when e was

Gastonladybird · 11/08/2011 19:44

(sorry had to start new post)e upset as nanny had dropped a door on her roe as going into swimming (fwiw nanny upset and apologised ). E was upset and I was calming her - nanny seemed to think was upset as I was there (bollocks was upset as fucking hurt to have a Stubbed toe). Now I need to stop being soft and say I will deal with this but am I being ott and hormonal . I don't think e loves nanny more than me etc it's more 1. Nanny doesn't always listen and I let her at times talk over me 2. I am a bit sensitive that can do as mich as usual with e (eg Carry or run round a lot) due to pregnancy .

So am I being ott?

Oh and this weekend holiday prep and then going to watch practice olympic cycling race on Sunday.

Gastonladybird · 11/08/2011 19:45

Mudwiggle -meant to say more useful advice than just get fit regarding your back? That sentence reads Wrong Wink

Gastonladybird · 12/08/2011 18:02

My turn to kill thread Blush

disguisedeb · 12/08/2011 23:31

Gaston - sorry to hear your Nanny woes, i think part might be due to your hormones but I think you must put her straight before it goes much further because as you say you're going to be spending a lot of time with her. If you're teeth are itching now, you'll have ground them away by the end of your ML!!I would certainly want to do the comforting if it was me in your situation.Smile

Gastonladybird · 13/08/2011 08:53

Thanks deb- think big long talk pre ml will sort it out (if I can get her to listen and not talk she is usually good).

Sttiching- stay away from "ignorant woman on sky news"thread on chat - it will make your blood boil.

Better get up then

StitchingMoss · 16/08/2011 09:37

Ooh sounds interesting, what's it about?! MN far too slow for me to be looking at other threads here!

Had a lovely day with Leo yesterday - and the boys got on brilliantly, have some lovely pics which I shall post on my return Smile.

WhatWouldLeoDo · 17/08/2011 21:49

Hi everyone, bit quiet on here. I'm still knackered from a weekend of festival activity so not had my brain in gear to post.

Had a lovely day meeting Stitching and family on Monday in Edinburgh. I can't get the Hairy MacLary song out of my head though. Grin I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures! I got a few but not many good ones.

Straw poll for those with boys (sorry Gaston Grin) - DS has started calling his penis his 'tail' Confused What do yours call theirs? I've kind of avoided it altogether before now - I know that there are many on MN who believe you should use proper names from the off, but it seems a bit unnecessary to me...

Gastonladybird · 18/08/2011 07:45

Quick post as waiting to cross on channel tunnel (off to france camping then to flat so may be offline for a week).

Its known as a wee tail here (as e has been into gents with dh ) - there was some disappointment she hasnt got one ,but hopes maybe she will get one when grown up.

Glad you and stitching had good time at meet up. Has busy week so looking forward to holiday.

StitchingMoss · 18/08/2011 08:09

The one of all of us together is lovely Leo Smile.

It's 'willy' here - seems to work! And lots of envy from little girls that they don't have one too! Grin

WhatWouldLeoDo · 18/08/2011 20:04

I'll have to get you to email me some pics Stitching!

I've never heard the use of 'tail' before DS mentioned it, so interesting that it's wee tail for you Gaston.

disguisedeb · 19/08/2011 00:06

willy here too!! Not sure about the big boys though, I am sure that they use other names but not when I am in earshot!!

Mudwiggle · 20/08/2011 08:22

Willy here too - I don't post for a bit and then come back and it's all about penises! What do you call ladybits though? I still don't have a proper name for mine....as a child I called it my dinky for some reason. Hmm

Re: Nanny, I think that if she is bugging you now, it's worth mentioning something, but maybe not yet. I know this might sound strange, but when I start a new job or meet people, what annoys me about them sometimes seems completely irrelevant a week or two later. So maybe see if it's still an issue in September and say something then if it is. Just my tuppence/five cents worth...

StitchingMoss · 20/08/2011 09:51

Grin at dinky - no idea on ladybits, luckily the DC haven't asked yet so just going to see what my mums of girls call them and follow their lead! Grin

How long did your gran live in Callander for Mudwiggle - it's absolutely beautiful Smile. Will definitely be going back.

Photos all posted - only about 100 of them for you to peruse at your leisure Grin!
