Hello everyone! I've just moved to Newcastle and don't know any other parents here yet. My son goes to nursery but I never seem to be picking him up/dropping him off at the same time as other mums so don't meet them - and I work full time so can't do the coffee morning etc thing. Anyone else in the area that would like to meet up on a Saturday, or a Sunday afternoon (I work in the church so can't do Sun mornings)?
Hope so!
Miranda

Hi Miranda

I would have loved to have met up with you in newcastle - I lived there for most of my life but moved to Nottingham and had ds so it might be a bit of a way to go!!

Good luck in getting some other Mumsnetters to meet up with you though.

Tissy · 12/08/2003 20:02

Hi, miranda, I no longer live in the area, sadly (lived in East Boldon for 6 years), but sometimes visit. My best friends live in Co. Durham, and actually, now I come to think of it, you may well know them, him being a vicar and all!!

elliott · 12/08/2003 20:38

Hi Miranda
I can't imagine you're going to be wanting for company for long - it always seems to me that people involved in church have a huge social network...
Anyway yes I am local to you, you're welcome to e-mail me off list. I should warn you I'm an atheist by conviction! (though some of my best friends etc etc....) I've lived here about 15 years and love it, so hopefully may be able to provide some local intelligence! I have a 20 month old ds and expecting number 2 in Dec.

miranda2 · 14/08/2003 16:54

Hi again everyone, and especially elliott (have emailed you too). No prob about you being atheist - most of my best friends are!!! The prob with actually working for the church is separating out 'work' from 'friends' - can be done, but takes a bit longer.

Hi Miranda,

I'm not actually living in Newcastle, I live in Heighington Village, Newton Aycliffe. I'm from Lowfell, which is only 2 miles away from Newcastle. I often visit my parents who still live there. Would love to meet up with you sometime. I have a 15 month daughter, Emily and I don't know anyone where I live either!
Hope to speak to you soon,

Andrea.

Hi! Another Geordie here who has re-located (to Holland!) Where in N/cle are you? I lived there for 28 years, parents live about 5 miles from centre and I lived in Heaton for a few years (pretty central) Fun place to be and changed massively in the 12 years since I left it. Geordie folk are v friendly on the whole and I know there are lots of other Mumsnetters living in the area so you won't be on your own for long!

monkeytrousers · 15/06/2006 20:26

Hello, I'm in Newcastle but weekends not really good for me just yet. Where do you work Miranda?

kiskidee · 15/06/2006 20:35

I live just o/s tyne and wear in co. Durham. Newc is only 20 mins on the A19/A1.

CarmenH · 15/06/2006 23:03

Hello, I'm in Newcastle too and would love to meet up with people from mumsnet but I have just looked at the date on the original post and noticed it was in 2003 so maybe miranda2 isn't around anymore Sad.

Shock
kiskidee · 16/06/2006 12:00

do people want to talk about organising a meetup for this summer then.

monkeytrousers · 16/06/2006 17:13

Yeah!

niceglasses · 16/06/2006 17:15

Yep, I'd be up - am in Whitley Bay. Did once make a meet -up!!

monkeytrousers · 16/06/2006 17:21

Me, DP and DS were at Tynemouth beach and Priory yesterday NG. We had a lovely day!

niceglasses · 16/06/2006 17:43

Tynemouth is nice esp in this weather. Where are you MT?

monkeytrousers · 16/06/2006 17:47

In Newcastle. We're in the middle of buying a house just out of Newcastle in Ryton, but it's taking forever. DP is often in Whitley Bay seeing his brother. I could ge him to drop me off and pick me up one afternoon. You anywhere near Cullercoats?

niceglasses · 16/06/2006 18:01

V near Cullercoats - North Shields, but its not a problem to come to town. If it was during the week may have 1 or 2 kids with me though.........

monkeytrousers · 16/06/2006 18:06

It'd be nice to give the kids some space to run free. I don't know about you but I've found child friendly places really hard to find in town. The Laing has a good kids room but it's a shame to be indoors in this weather, especially this far north. I'll fond out from DP when he's visiting his brother next and we could meet up on the beach if you like? How old are your kids?

niceglasses · 16/06/2006 18:12

Eldest boy 5 - in reception, middle boy 4 in October,- he does 2 and half hours at playgroup in pm, youngest girl is 2 in couple of weeks - have her all the time......lovely to meet up any time suits you.

monkeytrousers · 16/06/2006 18:20

He's going over some time on Sunday afternoon. Is that convenient for you or do you have sunday lunches to cook?

monkeytrousers · 16/06/2006 18:22

DS is 2 in September, that's all so far. i think DP will want to keep him Sunday though as he says he has nothing to talk about with his brother is baby isn't there. He'd could join us on the beach some time later though.

niceglasses · 16/06/2006 18:22

Sounds okay to me.......I should probably warn you my lot can be a bit erm, full on should we say. Want to e-mail me to maybe sort out some details??

[email protected]

niceglasses · 16/06/2006 18:26

Ahh well, if you are kid free, I have massive brownie points in the bank as DH went to World cup last weekend, so I could probably do sans children as well. Anyway, let me know.

CarmenH · 17/06/2006 20:54

Hello, I'd like to meet up too at some point if that's ok? Can't do this weekend but am on mat leave (dd 6wks Smile) and so can do most weekdays. Live in Newcastle. Keep me posted if you plan to meet up. x

kiskidee · 17/06/2006 22:14
