New Year Low Carb Bootcamp starts on 13 January!

This is just to let you know that the next low carb Bootcamp will be starting on Monday 13 January. As before, it will last for 10 weeks, with the first two weeks being the strictest.

I don't know why I feel nervous BIWI, I think because i was really successful at losing weight last summer but now I am losing the same weight again. Also i know with low carb it wont come off as easily this time? I don't want to be a yo yo dieter but I want to join in with social/celebration eating and I don't seem able to do that without turning into a carb monster for days or weeks after. What's your long term strategy for maintaining BIWI, how do you manage christmas and hols?

On the way home from work tonight I ate half a slab of Parmesan cheese, tell me is this a good or a bad thing? Can I have two much fat and is there anything else in Parmesan which makes it unsuitable for low carb WOE? Will have to eat it all before Monday if it's not allowed on the boot camp!

I would like to join the bootcamp. I've already been very low carbing since mid-august (due to blood sugar issues) and have lost almost three stone. But I relaxed a bit over Christmas and now I am having a very difficult time getting back into the low carb mode. I still need to lose another stone or so.

No idea what's going on with the list - sorry! Hopefully the lovely Willie will sort all that when she does the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

giraffes I don't have a formal strategy as such. I do, though, allow myself to go 'off piste' over Christmas (and at other times, like on holiday, etc) but I know that this will mean weight gain if I allow it to go on for too long. I think the key (for me at least) is to set a specific date by which I have to return to low carb. It isn't always easy, but as

a) I never want to go back to being as heavy as I was before I started this
b) I am aware of the health risks of a high-carb diet
c) I've worked very hard over the last couple of years to get fit, and I don't want to jeopardise that by piling the weight back on

that sort of keeps me focused!

It's also important that you enjoy low carb eating. Although there are foods that I do occasionally miss eating, I never actually feel deprived when I'm low carbing because I enjoy the food that I'm cooking - and if I go out to eat, I'm practised enough now to be able to navigate (most) menus without doing too much damage.

It gets much easier after time, when it does really become second nature.

And, there's always the knowledge that when you reach your target weight range, you will be able to indulge every now and then without it damaging things too much.

DurhamDurham - no probs with eating all that Parmesan, as long as dairy isn't an issue for you. But there's only one way to find that out!

You can't really eat too much fat - it's so satiating it's actually hard to eat that much in one go.

That said, I would be alarmed if all you are eating in one day is cheese. You do need a range of nutrients, if nothing else to stop you getting bored!

Thank BIBW, doing my best to eat lots of low carb food but couldn't resist the Parmesan I had bought on my way home.

I'm supposed to be off wheat, sugar, wine and Mumsnet this week but am failing miserably. So I'm in on bootcamp from Monday. Can someone add me to the list please as am on iPad with fat fingers. Fat everything!

I think I need the all or nothing approach. My eating healthy plan isn't working as I am not disciplined enough. And being able to have carbs albeit supposedly complex carbs isn't cutting the addiction obviously.

I have gained a stone in the last few months. Really pissed off with myself. I was running but had to stop as my knees really didn't like it. And have a problem with a disc in my lower back at the moment so can't do anything just now. Chiropractor is aiming to get me on cross trainer in a couple of weeks though.
