Week 4 - Autumn Low Carb Bootcamp - Focus, Focus, Focus!

Fingers crossed for some good results this morning!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Don't forget that it's still very common for people to experience little or no loss by week 4. If this is happening to you, and you know that you haven't cheated, then don't panic. Just keep on keeping on, and by next week (hopefully!) you will be rewarded with a loss.

The losses from that point are likely to be in the region of 1-2lbs a week (may be more if you have a lot to lose), but that will all be fat. And although I know it doesn't sound a lot, just visualise it. 2lbs is 4 packs of lard, which is a lot of fat!

If you've moved on to Bootcamp Light, make sure you're keeping an eye on how many carbs you're eating, and don't get carried away with the nuts and fruit or the alcohol.

Here's to a good week!

I think o really have to stop the weigh ins. They make such a difference to how my day goes and for me its not healthy. I have even stopped exercising as I wad afraid I would gain weight on the scales. I don't want to lose my fitness for a readout on the scales.

So, I am going to continue this way of eating and I am going to do cardio 3 times a week and the toning exercises that I am having designed for me 5 days a week. I should get my program in the next couple of days so the day I start I am going to weigh and measure myself and then my husband is going to put the scales in the loft as I won't go up there. I may even take a before photo too.

In a month or so if I feel slimmer I will weigh and measure again.

I will continue to post on here and read all the threads but I am afraid I am getting too obsessed with the numbers and I don't want to end up with a problem that won't be easy to fix.

Sounds like a sensible plan Purple.

I'm very happy with 4.6 off this week. If I'd used yesterday's figure, it would have been nearer 7! But on a Sunday I can get up late, whereas on a Monday it's a 6am weigh-in. So that's ok.

Twit I'm not keen on fish and it is expensive do we rarely have it. We had frittata tonight for tea, but don't often because dd doesn't like eggs and I hate cooking different meals.

I'll look for belly pork. Last time I cooked done in the oven for about 40 mins and I found it quite tough but the crackling wasn't crispy.

I've just completed week 4 of my mission and am down to my first goal 100kg .. my weight when 9 months pregnant. I lost 2kg this week after no loss the week before. So I am delighted. I now am heading to my next goal of 90kg which is me before pregnant. I hope to be there by Christmas.

I down (just a little) since last week. overall loss is 3.8lbs which considering I've been doing this for the most part since Jan is slow and steady weight loss. I am still surprised I am losing (especially as I cba to prepare food this weekend much and eat with the rest of the family for a couple of meals.

Still I am shrinking little by little.

Purple absolutely no obligation to be on the spreadsheet - it's only for those who want it and you know what works best for you. Sounds like you're being very sensible.

Purple I think you are being sensible, I hate getting drawn into weighing, it does get obsessive.

Twit I went into Morrisons today and was surprised at how reasonable some of the fish was.

Report
MotherOfSoupDragon · 01/10/2013 00:50

Timid I rarely go to Morrisons because the car park is always full. I will have to have a look next time I'm in town.

I am feeling very sorry for myself this morning. I have a horrible cold and sore throat. Sad

On the plus side I have zero interest in eating anything (except Strepsils which aren't allowed)

Purple that sounds like a good idea. I am going to stop weighing myself daily. It becomes as though that number is the only measure of progress but this woe gives so many other, more important benefits.

holmessweetholmes · 01/10/2013 07:30

My fab new scales unfortunately say that I weigh more than my old scales did Sad. So my stats on the spreadsheet will be skewed. Not sure whether to just stop using the spreadsheet or put the new weight and start from there.

I've stayed the same. But I had some social stuff last week so not surprised or disappointed.

Thanks everyone. I know I am doing the right thing. I can't carry on letting the scales dictate my mood. I have a friend with a very serious eating disorder and she is worried I will go the same way as her. So it is time to stop this but continue low carbing and eating healthy non processed foods. Im not going back to the diet coke either!

Sorry Negroni, my cumulative wine and carb hangover was so bad yesterday that I wasn't reading names properly! Save your research trip across town for a special occasion and combine it with a visit to the beautiful Kew Gardens!

Purple sounds like you're making a very sensible decision there. I think measuring and gauging how your clothes fit is a far more useful measure of progress anyway.

Holmes could you measure yourself on both sets of scales, calculate the difference, then edit your spreadsheet entries and subtract that amount from each one? Or would that muck up Willie's stats?

Food yesterday...
B/L - courgette and tomatoes with mozzarella and pesto
D - black farmer chipolatas with roasted celeriac mash, shallots and roasted garlic
P - berry crumble (ground almonds and butter topping) with clotted cream
Plenty of water, several teas.

Much better night's sleep last night and feeling much clearer headed this morning.

Good plan, Purple. I don't want anyone to start getting that obsessed with their weight such that they might be straying into disordered eating. That's certainly most definitely not the point of Bootcamp.

Anyway, I'm off Oop North to see my Dad for the next few days, and will only have a very dodgy 3G signal and phone, so will not be around to post much until the weekend. It also means I can avoid all the bullying threads which keep sucking me in

By the time I return, I will need to batter my Inner Gobbler and stop being a Carby Twat. Four days with my family usually involves way too much food and an awful lot of wine.

I hope that you all have a good week.

Have a lovely time BIWI, forget those stupid threads and enjoy your food and drink. We'll beater your Inner Gobbler with your own big stick on your return. Wink

I was wondering whether I was eating the right proportions of fat, protein and carbohydrate as there always seem to be comments of eat more fat so I have logged today's food on My Fitness Pal. I drink loads of water so I know I'm alright there. According to MFP today my meals add up to approximately:
53% fat (144g)
35% protein (95g)
12% carbohydrate (33g)

Does that seem like a reasonable proportion? I suspect I might be eating too much protein because some days I would eat more meat than that.

After a huge blowout weekend (planned, it was my sisters wedding!) I am up 4lb but still down 8 overall. It was worth it for a fantastic few days and to be honest it's probably more from the booze, I was ok with the food apart from one potato and quite a few drunken sandwiches
Anyway, onwards and downwards again, hopefully I can get rid of the extra 4lb and be back to where I was by next Monday. Definitley still in bootcamp proper!

Report
AuntieMaggie · 01/10/2013 15:57

I should weigh on a Tuesday instead... 2lbs off since yesterday so 8lbs in total. No idea why...
