Week 4 - Autumn Low Carb Bootcamp - Focus, Focus, Focus!

Fingers crossed for some good results this morning!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Don't forget that it's still very common for people to experience little or no loss by week 4. If this is happening to you, and you know that you haven't cheated, then don't panic. Just keep on keeping on, and by next week (hopefully!) you will be rewarded with a loss.

The losses from that point are likely to be in the region of 1-2lbs a week (may be more if you have a lot to lose), but that will all be fat. And although I know it doesn't sound a lot, just visualise it. 2lbs is 4 packs of lard, which is a lot of fat!

If you've moved on to Bootcamp Light, make sure you're keeping an eye on how many carbs you're eating, and don't get carried away with the nuts and fruit or the alcohol.

Here's to a good week!

Oh no! I'm really sorry.

No, posted this end of last week.

However, I am leaving the boot camp threads, as I no longer feel I can post honestly about problems I'm having. I'm not perfect, I slip up sometimes, but now feel I can no longer admit that, so see no point in posting when I cannot be honest. Thanks for your help in the past BIWI and Willie.

Are you hiding your confession on this thread instead of posting on the current one? Wink Grin

I have been a total carby twat over the last few days, my only excuse is we had visitors and then a big family meal out.

Back on track from tomorrow. Will drink lots of water and stick to boot camp rules.

Good luck with the new job BIWI

So tomorrow I start my new job. No longer will I be self-employed or working from home.

Which means that the time that I have available to read/post will be severely curtailed!

Please don't think that I'm abandoning you. I will do as much as I can before/after work, but I should alert you all to the fact that I am likely to be around a lot less than I have been up to now. (At least until I can work out ways to post when I should be working Wink)

I will start the week 5 thread this evening, as I will not have time in the morning.

Pretty amazing results Maryz and I hope you're feeling less shaky Holmes.

I've been running around like a blue-arsed fly ALL DAY scrubbing, tidying and cleaning the house. Because prospective new tenants are viewing tomorrow. It would be awful if we were actually the owners trying to sell it - that would be a week's cleaning! I was just trying to not get any disapproval from the landlord. I wonder whether all this unaccustomed housework-exercise will have any effect on the weigh-in tomorrow.

Toomuch I think it would be quite carby - baked potatoes are a very carb-y way of eating potatoes for example, so I imagine baking an apple probably makes it carbier than a normal eating apple.

(Can you make an apple tart/cake/pudding that you can donate to friends/work?)

The clotted cream sounds fine though!

How bad would it be to have a baked apple after my roast chicken this evening? My parents have given me a tray of beautiful Bramley apples from their garden and it seems such a shame to leave them sitting there. And I bought a pot of clotted cream so I need something to eat it with.

(Have managed to avoid the rice pudding...)

On nights atm but managed to resist the doughnuts and chocolate cakes people bought in,Smile
It's hard work as one of my colleagues is an ex pastry chef and makes the most divine cakes.
Just had homemade chilli with sour cream for breakfast and taking tuna mayonnaise for lunch. Might make a thermos of bulletproof coffee for a early morning boost as that's when the carb goblins rear their ugly heads.

I am sooo hungry! Well - mostly bored with work I am supposed to be doing. Have a pint of water and packet of ham next to me, but very little in fridge as going shopping tomorrow. A nice bowl of rice pudding is looking very attractive at the moment...

And I feel RUBBISH after that lunch, nice though it was. I have a stomach ache and am actually shaky.

Urgh. Lunch at the neighbours was not exactly low carb... It's interesting though, that falling off the waggon on this WOE doesn't seem to derail me completely. I am quite happy to climb back on the next day.

Blimey Maryz that's amazing!

I'm feeling really slim today, whether I've lost or not it's obvious in the mirror today :)

About to go to our new (French) neighbours' for lunch. Hoping I can have teeny portions of anything that's carby.
B: omelette with plenty of butter
L: don't know!
D: cold roast chicken and salad with mayo or oily dressing

Having real trouble resisting the Lindt milk chocolate that MIL brought round the other day though...

That's impressive, Maryz!

Last minute dinner party here last night - and managed to keep it low carb apart from all the alcohol of course

Starter - antipasti board (salami, proscuitto, buffalo mozzarella, sunblush tomatoes, olives, silverskin onions and gherkins) with focaccia bread for the non low-carbers

Main - fillet steak with a creamy red wine sauce, green salad with garlicky vinaigrette and celeriac boulangere

Pudding - chocolate and raspberry ice-cream, decorated with freeze-dried raspberries and a side garnish of 4 raspberries and cream.

The pudding was really low carb because it was made with 90% cocoa dark chocolate and had no extra sugar. Flavoured with raspberry liqueur, vanilla extract and chocolate extract.

I had bought cheese as well, but we had no room for that!

Can you post your last few days meals? Common problems are: being in week 3 or 4, too little water, too little fat, too few calories overall or being stalled by dairy, caffeine or some medicines.

Went clothes shopping today. Bought everything in a size 12 - which I haven't been since the 1990's!

Aww - thanks! I'm glad I've stayed too Smile. Loving the sound of those edam crackers. And a very inspiring post from Ariadne.

Wow I must revisit the recipe thread for those cracker things. Thanks Ariadne for sharing your ideas - I may have to steal them. Thanks BIWI will look at the casseroles.

The biggest challenges for me on this woe is finding food when I'm out and about with work and because I'm not hungry deciding what to eat as I don't fancy anything and certain foods I've gone off (which causes some rows with poor DP who does most of the cooking and is at a loss about what to cook). I do boot camp light in that I eat nuts and berries but as a rule I don't drink alcohol unless on a night out. I have the occasional potato or chip but I try not to beat myself up about it because a) I've cut out carby processed crap so am healthier regardless of whether I'm losing weight or not and I don't actually want the crap and when I do I am satisfied by a very small taste of it and b) my insulin resistance is more stable. (Of course I do beat myself up occasionally cos I'd like to lose weight...)
