Week 3 - Autumn Low Carb Bootcamp - The Crossroads!

So we have reached the end of the first two, strict weeks.

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

By now, if you have stuck to your knitting, you should be ketogenically adapted - which is to say, you should have switched your body from burning carbs to burning fat.

Hurrah!

Flowers

You now have a choice. You can relax things a little and can include some fruit (berries) and some nuts/seeds - and a little alcohol in moderation The rules of Bootcamp Light are on the spreadsheet.

Or

You can stay on Bootcamp, if it suits you - as long as you promise me that you are getting your carbs from vegetables and salad!

Another option, which many of us adopt, is to do Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

The choice is entirely yours!

I hope that everyone is enjoying their food, which is the most important thing. And good luck for the next week.

tenement I think you'll only find out by trying. I think yogurt is slightly less prone to making people stall than cheese is, but I imagine everyone responds to these foods slightly differently?

tenementfunster · 27/09/2013 14:53

thanks, lily

HighJinx · 27/09/2013 15:41

Sounds wonderful Purple. I hope you have a lovely, relaxing time.

Purple2012 · 27/09/2013 15:51

Thanks highjinx

Ugh I had a piece of cake this morning at a Macmillan coffee morning thing - it was so sweet it made me feel sick. I ate it as the friend who hosted the event and gave me the cake has a father who is dying from cancer and she was upset. And I figured one piece of cake compared to what they're going through is nothing. I do however think its a bit odd that given there are many suggestions about how diet affects cancer that the fundraising involves cake...

MrsSnuffleupagus · 27/09/2013 17:18

AuntieMaggie I also had some cake at a MacMillan coffee morning, not a whole piece I 'shared' with my 11m old ds (no way was he eating a whole bit to himself !). It was lemon drizzle and I found it so sweet and felt a little ill afterwards Confused No more cake for me for a looong time.

Its been a good day food wise otherwise- scrambled egg and bacon for breakfast, h/m tuscan bean soup minus beans for lunch and looking forward to lamb steaks with a herb butter and salad for dinner Smile

starrystarryknut · 27/09/2013 17:31

Had a tiring, stressful day at work and my cold has turned into sinusitis. I feel blahhhh. What I really want to do is go out for dinner and have a few glasses of wine. I haven't cheated once, not once since I started. Please remind me that it's NOT a good idea to go out to dinner and drink wine. I'm very close to falling off the wagon tonight.

AuntieMaggie · 27/09/2013 18:09

snuffle I haven't eaten anything since as I haven't been hungry.

I was also a bit 'meh' because we're ttc and there were loads of babies about. No sign of AF yet and its been more than 32 days... but i'm not pg.

I sort of want to try something carby to see if it tastes horrible but I am a bit afraid to.

AuntieMaggie · 27/09/2013 19:47

Thanks BIWI.

BIWI · 27/09/2013 19:48

I wouldn't, Purple - especially as you are so close to your holiday!

And, from my own experience, not all carbs are horrible. You could end up head first in the biscuit tin if you're not careful Grin

I've just made the butter chicken from the Idiot Proof Recipe book and it was gorgeous!

Purple2012 · 27/09/2013 19:52

Don't worry biwi I won't be doing it. I may have a bit of a treat after my holiday. I'm just intrigued by people saying how different things taste now. I also want to know if I will find diet coke too sweet, but its way too soon to try it.

I guess im kind of hoping to try some of the stuff I used to eat a lot of, not like it any more so that I don't give it another thought. Does that make sense?

I won't be heading for the biscuits. Im a savoury carb eater rather than sweet stuff.

MotherOfSoupDragon · 27/09/2013 19:52

AuntieMaggie, so sorry to hear that.

Purple, have a good time.

holmessweetholmes · 27/09/2013 19:56

Well I've had my first proper cheat this afternoon. I now have a horrible taste in my mouth and feel a bit jittery with sugar-high. It's interesting to see the effect the carbs have on me once my body's got used to doing without them. Definitely back on the waggon tomorrow!

BIWI · 27/09/2013 20:00

Horrible, isn't it, holmes? Last time I did that, we were on holiday and had no choice but to eat carbs en route to our holiday house. As well as that horrible jittery feeling a couple of hours later, I was also having visual disturbances at one point. It was awful and really quite frightening. It was definitely from my blood sugar suddenly dropping, because after I'd eaten a handful of strawberries I felt much better.

Did my workout today with my pt and I am under 10stone which is lovely.
Dh took us out to supper - chicken satay and then steak with steamed veggies. Not too bad.
I wanted to get pissed after the crap on here today but I have had one glass of white wine.
Well done me - the old baggage.x

BIWI · 27/09/2013 20:35

JustasmallGless · 27/09/2013 20:44

Well done pag.
Have avoided all other threads tbh.

Its amazing how your taste buds change.
Auntie Maggie - sorry to hear. It must be very hard on social situations like that.

BIWI · 27/09/2013 20:45

Thanks Pag. And I send you some in return. I was/still am irritated/unsettled/frustrated. But must remember not to post after more vino collapso has been taken Grin

Pagwatch · 27/09/2013 20:57

Yy the taste change thing is amazing.
Ds2 wanted me to eat a starburst sweet a couple of days ago. It was almost unbearable.

Very wise BIWI. I am pleased I went out tbh. Grin

starrystarryknut · 27/09/2013 21:00

Thanks BIWI for the reminder that I can have a teensy little glass of wine on BC Lite. The thing is once I decide to do something I'm always a bit of an extremist. I WILL bootcamp. I WILL be a low carb supremo. I WILL lose that weight. Unfortunately Confused I seem to have iron will power!

I need to lighten up, right (bad choice of phrase).
