So here we are! Over 160 of us signed up!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your first weight

If you aren't on the list for any reason, just go to the bottom of the list and add your name - the lovely Willie will sort out the alphabetisation later.

From experience of previous Bootcamps, the chat thread can move very quickly! So, if you have a specific or particular question, please post it on the questions thread I will do my best to check it as often as I can, as will other seasoned Bootcampers.

If you have a really burning issue, please feel free to PM me and I will do my very best to help you as soon as possible.

And if you're looking for inspiration for things to cook, here's the recipe thread

Here is a brief reminder of the rules:

We do not eat any of the following during Bootcamp:

bread
rice
pasta/noodles
potatoes
flour
pastry
sugar
chocolate/sweets
biscuits/cookies
crisps

And here are the ten rules of Bootcamp:

  1. You must eat breakfast.
  2. Avoid processed food
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10. No sugar or artificial sweeteners

More detail/explanation of these rules is on the spreadsheet ? look at the tabs at the bottom.

One final word from me ? the disclaimer! I am not a doctor, a scientist, a dietician nor a nutritionist. The advice that is given here is based on my own experience of low carbing, as well as the reading I have been doing over the last few years.

If you have a medical condition, or you are taking long term medication, please take advice from your GP/consultant before starting to low carb.

Good luck everyone!

I went to Starbucks Yesterday Pag and I had one americano with cream and one peppermint tea

I meant to say on your Other thread, my mum was just telling me that Victoria wood was talking about overeating in times of grief and apparently she says it's the only way women can self harm without letting down the family tey care for, as we don't have the luxury of collapsing into booze etc. I thought that was interesting.

thenightsky · 14/09/2013 19:57

Pag Starbucks is the worse environment for low carbing Sad

If I have to go there, I go for Americano with cream on the side, plus a bottle of water.

Not sure I could spin that out for 3 hours though.

Ruprekt · 14/09/2013 20:19

Just had dinner. Family had Nacho Attack SmileSmile

I had a lovely salad.

They are, right this very minute, tucking into ds1's homemade chocolate brownies which are slightly oozing chocolate. ConfusedConfused

Am resisting.

((Hopes Biwi has good girl prizes))

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 14/09/2013 20:31

I'm having a difficult weekend - food choices that are out of my hands.

Today, I had greek yogurt for breakfast, garlic butter chicken breast(with skin) mushrooms and courgette for lunch and then, because it was all I could pick from the menu duck breast salad with a cumberland sausage on the side. Grin

Tomorrow I've a christening with buffet that I just know will be carb central. I'm thinking I might have a 'proper' breakfast instead of my usual yogurt and that should keep me full through to tea-time?

LilyAmaryllis · 14/09/2013 20:31

Well done Ruprekt immense bravery!

I've just had takeaway curry. I beat you all for stuffed-ness! (aubergine, spinach and mushroom bhaji side dishes. obvs no rice or naan)

Ruprekt · 14/09/2013 20:39

Imatot....on previous bootcamps we had what we called a BAB which was Big Ass Breakfast.

This could consist of

Fried bacon
Sausages
Eggs
Mushrooms

It set us up for the day but not an excuse to skip meals. It would mean you are starving when you get there. Smile

Ruprekt · 14/09/2013 20:40

Thanks Lily....your curry sounds good. Smile

dementedma · 14/09/2013 21:03

Dd1 made enchiladas and I just had the spicy chicken filling and no wrap. They are now having tarte au citron for pudding and I could weep. Seriously. This diet is OK during the week but the weekends are a killer :-(

loopyloou · 14/09/2013 21:04

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a good weekend.

B: fried leftover veg - leeks, aubergine, swede - with sliced cold left over sausage.
L: the rest of the left over veg fried with a poached egg
D: steak, leeks braised in butter, courgettes fried in butter, mushrooms, Stilton and cream sauce.
S: pork scratchings, 2 Babybel
Decaff black coffee, herbal tea, water

Livelongandprosper · 14/09/2013 22:06

Checking in to mark my place. I check this thread a few times a day to keep me on track, I like to see how we're all doing Grin Tomorrow I have a 6 hour each way drive to take DS back to uni and I usually survive it by eating sweets. I have some low carb snacks and lunch prepared to take with me - heeding the preparation is everything advice.

CiderwithBuda · 14/09/2013 22:08

Well Crabby I waited but you didn't show. Sad

Had to cook it ourselves. It was yum. DH did the steak and the mushrooms and I did the celeriac. Also did chips and corn for DS. Have a small amount of th celeriac left for me for tomorrow while the boys are having roast potatoes. The mushrooms and shallots were fab. Really tasty. DH thought it was all a bit rich together but I liked it a lot.

Drink wise as its Saturday I treated myself to a very large.......... Sparkling water with lots of ice and a few slices of lemon.

JustasmallGless · 14/09/2013 22:38

Toomuch - what are yo trying to say Hmm Wink

Ruprekt - well done you!

Was whisked out for surprise meal by DH to celebrate promotion at work. Had flaming meat starter then balti chicken and mushroom saag

Yummy am soooo full
Stepping- glad you managed to negotiate lunch well done!

Pag - think you have the answer. Americano and cream.

I'matot - defo go for big breakfast. Buffets can sometimes be the easier option as you have control over what you choose to eat. Good luck

googoogoggles · 14/09/2013 23:20

Evening all! Just checking in – going to have a proper read tomorrow as I like the sound of some of the meals/recipes people have been posting and want to jot down a few ideas. Well, I did OK on my Friday eve gastro pub dinner out that I mentioned a few pages ago now. Had cheese croquettes for a starter - not ideal but it was the most low carb option on offer. I picked out the cheese and left the crusty outer bit – my plate looked a complete mess by the time I'd finished, so it was a good job the restaurant area was candlelit Then steak and greens for my main. No bread; no pud and sipped just 1/2 small glass of dry white (along with a whole large bottle of sparkling water), so feel I did OK. Have a cold so it's been hard to tell whether my feeling grotty over the last few days is purely down to that or to carb flu. Hopeful that have started dipping into ketosis though as I wasn't even slightly tempted by the brownie or sticky toffee pudding on the menu.
Might do roast chicken/veg for late lunch/early dinner tomorrow, with Yorkshire pud and roasts for the hoards.
Keep the faith everyone –and good luck staying firmly on track tomorrow!

CrabbyBigBottom · 14/09/2013 23:45

Oh Cider I feel terrible now! Thank goodness you managed to cook it yourselves! Grin I do like my food rich, I must admit - it's why this WOE suits me so well and my cholesterol is so high. Grin

I made crispy duck tonight by slow roasting duck legs that I'd rubbed in 5 spice (well it was 7 spices actually but based on a 5 spice recipe) powder. God they tasted amazing and crispy skin was out of this world. The meat just fell of the bone and I could easily shredd it with a couple of forks. We had it in little gem lettuce leaves with cucumber and spring onion strips. I did kale as 'crispy seaweed' and discovered that it's really nice if you dry roast it in the oven (I was trying to dry a bit of the moisture off it before frying, forgot and left it in there for ages. It was really nice!

The crowing glory was a homemade hoisin sauce that I made with a tablespoon of black treacle, which I read on the can was 6.5% carbs - I was really surprised at how low it was. i've just looked it up now to calculate how many carbs in the sauce and it's 65% carbs! Hmm Blush it was this recipe and I used almond butter instead of peanut butter. It tasted bloody amazing though and was so incredibly strong that you only needed a tiny bit.

CrabbyBigBottom · 14/09/2013 23:47

God so many typos in that - that'll teach me to touch type on the ipad with no contact lenses in. Blush

whodunnit · 15/09/2013 00:17

hello

Just made it through going out to a friend's for the evening meal. I didn't want to ring ahead & explain about my new WOE and so I took lots of green salad n olives n chicken n feta with the excuse that she was feeding so many of us (5) that we had to bring food, also double cream n strawberries (as an excuse to turn up with double cream). It worked really well. I just put it in bowls on the table - easy - and then addedit to what she plated up for me chicken curry no rice, and mainly ate my food whilst complimenting her greatly on hers. I got away wth it big time.

Also had B - chicken n cheese omelette
L- green salad rolled in ham, 5 macademia nuts
a cup of tea and one of coffee lots of water.

Can't wait to see the scale son Monday at work to see how I'm faring. My trousers definately feel bigger and my belly not so big - but it may be wishful thinking....

Good luck to us all.

giggly · 15/09/2013 05:17

Just had ff yogurt with a dollop of cream for the first time in my life, wow delicious. Can't wait for weigh in tomorrow and its not often I say that Wink.
Have made a massive pot of stew as I am on double shifts this week and need to be organised or will snack on crap from the vending machines otherwise.
Feeling noticeably healthier.

Purple2012 · 15/09/2013 06:55

2 fukl days without diet coke now and no headache when I got up this morning. So hoping the withdrawal symptoms are easing.

Made spinach and ricotta gnocchi from the recipe thread last night which was lovely.

Hoping for a good result on the scales tomorrow. Managed to resist a sneaky peek this morning.

Quite hungry today but will wait until I get into work to have my breakfast.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and not struggling too much.

KinkyDorito · 15/09/2013 07:36

I meant to say on your Other thread, my mum was just telling me that Victoria wood was talking about overeating in times of grief and apparently she says it's the only way women can self harm without letting down the family tey care for, as we don't have the luxury of collapsing into booze etc. I thought that was interesting.

Yep, it's called 'carer's addiction' because carb-binges don't impede you taking care of others. I don't even think it's times of grief, I think it's a day-to-day go to. You can still drive a car after six bars of chocolate! Caitlin Moran wrote about it too in her book.

JustasmallGless · 15/09/2013 07:39

Bigkidsdidit
Try the braised cabbage recipe on the recipe thread or the low carb recipe section
It's lush

KinkyDorito · 15/09/2013 07:41

I'm just finishing my 3 weeks and I'm 12lbs down, although it does fluctuate.

Downside for me is I'm still on my endless period, and I've read on the internet that some women who low-carb can bleed for the entire time they do it. That would be a bugger. I'm still hoping it will settle down - I'm now on day 18!

Upside is I'm getting to work every day without a rumbling stomach in spite of having breakfast, no food cravings, IBS so much better. It does make me feel much better. I was chiefly doing this to stop the IBS as it was crippling me and I was having to take up to 6 immodium a day to get into work. Last week I wasn't taking any! Really pleased.

MrsSnuffleupagus · 15/09/2013 07:52

Well I had an awful day yesterday Sad actually it was a good day but shocking carb wise. It was my DD's 4th birthday party, I had been running around organising it since 6am so missed breakfast then due to my starving state scoffed 2 duck spring rolls and 3 vegetable pakoras Angry. I have to admit I did feel sick after eating them, my body must be adjusting to this woe. I was so angry with myself for potentially ruining all the hard work I've put in this week. I did manage to have a good dinner of low carb sausages, mashed swede and cabbage and brocolli (dressed in butter) so hopefully I haven't done too much damage...

Hey ho onwards and upwards. So far today:
1 x tea (I still can't kick this first thing in the morning habit)
B- fried bacon, fried egg and fried muschrooms
1 litre of water

JustasmallGless · 15/09/2013 07:53

Purple well done - it is a proper addiction which is difficult to break but sounds like you have cracked it! Have a good day at work

MrsSnuffleupagus · 15/09/2013 07:53

Oh and I managed to avoid birthday cake Grin

dementedma · 15/09/2013 08:23

Hoping for a good day today after slip ups on Friday and Saturday. Not looking forward to the weigh in as haven't kept to the plan. My own stupid fault. However I do feel thinner bloat wise so I will put must try harder on my end of week report and get gallons of water down me today
