So here we are! Over 160 of us signed up!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your first weight

If you aren't on the list for any reason, just go to the bottom of the list and add your name - the lovely Willie will sort out the alphabetisation later.

From experience of previous Bootcamps, the chat thread can move very quickly! So, if you have a specific or particular question, please post it on the questions thread I will do my best to check it as often as I can, as will other seasoned Bootcampers.

If you have a really burning issue, please feel free to PM me and I will do my very best to help you as soon as possible.

And if you're looking for inspiration for things to cook, here's the recipe thread

Here is a brief reminder of the rules:

We do not eat any of the following during Bootcamp:

bread
rice
pasta/noodles
potatoes
flour
pastry
sugar
chocolate/sweets
biscuits/cookies
crisps

And here are the ten rules of Bootcamp:

  1. You must eat breakfast.
  2. Avoid processed food
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10. No sugar or artificial sweeteners

More detail/explanation of these rules is on the spreadsheet ? look at the tabs at the bottom.

One final word from me ? the disclaimer! I am not a doctor, a scientist, a dietician nor a nutritionist. The advice that is given here is based on my own experience of low carbing, as well as the reading I have been doing over the last few years.

If you have a medical condition, or you are taking long term medication, please take advice from your GP/consultant before starting to low carb.

Good luck everyone!

I really love pimenton (smoked paprika) with roasted celeriac - lovely smoky warm taste and rich red colour. It would go well with mushrooms too. Sainsburys and Waitrose sell it in their spice sections. Wink

dementedma · 14/09/2013 12:45

Keeping busy today to keep on track. Kitchen now gutted and spotless. Two loads of washing on the line and going out for a run in a min.
Breakfast was a HB egg, a slice of ham and some coleslaw. Lunch will be cauliflower soup.
Just have to not crack tonight.....

CiderwithBuda · 14/09/2013 12:53

Crabby - that sounds yum! What time will you be here to cook it? [ hopeful begging face emoticon needed]

janmoomoo · 14/09/2013 13:57

The info on this thread is sooooo helpful. Well done everyone.

I had celery and cream cheese before a long wet dog walk, then had a lovely fry up with DH but I didnt have the bread. There are so many low carb treats you can have (coffee with cream, brie, salami) I don't know why you would want anything else.

A real big bonus of this WOE for me has been drinks. I used to drink coffee all day until 6pm, then diet coke or diet ginger beer all evening, and that was it. Now I have one decaf coffee in the morning then it is herbal tea and water all day, soda water with little squeeze of lime in the evenings, peppermint tea with real mint from the garden after dinner.

I went to the gym last night for a run (DH asked if I needed the sat nav to get there, its been so long!)

Torrorosso · 14/09/2013 15:03

How bad would it be to have red wine with the lovely steak I've bought for dinner?

CiderwithBuda · 14/09/2013 15:24

Very bad Torrorosso, very bad indeed.

1 it will knock you out of ketosis
2 it may may you crave more
3 it will affect your willer
4 BIWI has a very big stick.

CiderwithBuda · 14/09/2013 15:25

Willer was willpower!

Torrorosso · 14/09/2013 15:52

You killjoy Cider. Not even a teeny one?

Cherrypi · 14/09/2013 16:19

Hi all. Another half a pound off this morning. Yay. What can I have from a Chinese takeaway that is low carb? ./?:

Cherrypi · 14/09/2013 16:19

Ignore the random characters at the end. Toddler climbed on me.

CorrieDale · 14/09/2013 17:11

Beat me BIWI - I had a couple of sweets last night. God only knows why. Also a lot of almonds. So today I am back on track and having a very low carb day. Stinking headache though.

CiderwithBuda · 14/09/2013 17:18

Torrorosso - up to you. But will you regret it tomorrow? I am very tempted tonight too as having steak but really want a good result on Monday. Last time I did this I got to day five having lost really well, had a planned cheat and then undid all my hard work.

LCHammer · 14/09/2013 17:22

I need willer too. Doing v well but I had a handful of toffee popcorn. They were in my mouth before I realised and I couldn't spit them out as I was with the DDs and didn't want to give them a bad example about behaviour around food.

Pagwatch · 14/09/2013 17:22

I've added myself to the spreadsheet at last.
A good week really and DH has just tinkered with recipe for supper to take out carb and is doing me loads of steamed veggies instead of the mash that everyone else is having.
I think I've lost a bit but I am only weighing once a week or I will get fed up.

More energy, sleeping better - so far so good.

CrabbyBigBottom · 14/09/2013 17:26

Did you say you're in Somerset Cider? Should take me about... ooh... four hours. Grin

toomuchicecream · 14/09/2013 18:09

Have just done the roast/pureed/creamed celeriac and put it back in the oven while the leeks cook - the bits on the spoon were yum!! We'll be having it with leeks & pancetta fried in butter and finished with cream, and lamb meatballs (because DH didn't pick up my text asking him to get steak...

Just deciding if the meatballs will need some kind of sauce or whether the creamy leeks will be enough....

Ruprekt · 14/09/2013 18:25

Good week so far.....

Breakfast was late but had a bacon burger with salad Smile

Took coffee and water to the cinema while the boys had popcorn and haribo. ConfusedConfusedConfused

For those doubting this woe, keep going.......Smile

EwanHoozami · 14/09/2013 18:36

B - Lidl yog
L - Bresaola spinach and cheese wraps
D - Roast broccoli and swede salad

minor mishap involving a spoonful of peanut butter Blush

Celeriac fans - the celeriac bravas in the IPD book is SO good.

bigkidsdidit · 14/09/2013 18:43

Can I ask you good cooks, I have a sweetheart cabbage to have with roast chicken tomorrow. How would you cook that?

SteppingOnLego · 14/09/2013 18:45

Home again from dinner at my mum's to report back. All went a lot better than I thought it might. For a start I drove so not tempted by wine!

It was a roast dinner with lots of veg so I had roast beef, cauliflower, broccoli and mashed swede with butter. Managed to avoid yorkshire pudding as there wasn't quite enough (I was very unselfish) and only took 1 potato which by coincidence was still there when I finished.

So far so good but pudding a bit more tricky. It was apple crumble. Got away with just asking for a small portion (too full up). Only ate the fruit which was quite sharp (she had forgotten the sugar!) and whipped cream luckily rather than custard. Not sure how bad the cooked apple will be so drinking lots of water.

SteppingOnLego · 14/09/2013 18:47

Forgot to say - thank you for the advice, very useful tips. It helps to know that other people are there going through the same things. Keeps me accountable somehow.

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 14/09/2013 19:06

Evening all, keep on track if you can, adjusting to this WOE is a real mental test sometimes, esp when the world around us is set up for carb consumption, but the rewards are worth it!

B scrambled eggs
L picky bits between jobs: ham and Philly roll, slice of cheese with peanut butter (I know, but am long termer so I know it doesn't stall me) cucumber.
D Total Veg Fest! Did cauliflower cheese*, leeks in a cream, garlic and mustard sauce and wilted spinach. All gorgeous. Completely full.

used the original teaandthorazine recipe which is double cream, Philly, grated cheese, cumin, pepper and bacon bits. Fabulous. Find it in the Food section, low carb recipes, just called Cauliflower Cheese (it will say by WineGless who was fabulous at transferring recipes from the thread to the section for us all. Now known as justasmallgless* which is a misnomer if ever I heard one Wink )

Ohfuckohfuckofuck · 14/09/2013 19:23

I survived a 4 year old's birthday party without scoffing wotsits and chocolate fingers! Hooray, I had a water and politely declined the cake. Same could not be said for DD, but she is a skinny 3 year old, so meh.

B: 2 rashers of bacon, 2 fried eggs, 1 sausage (97% pork with just 1.2g carb per 100g) and fried mushrooms.
L: made pizza, garlic bread and sausage rolls for friends, kids and dh, but made a lovely salad using cooked salmon, prawns, avocado, few cherry tomatoes, grated shallot and lots of salad leaves, dressed with a mayo, oil and lemon dressing. Unfortunately everyone else liked it too, so my plan for leftovers was scuppered.
D: 'Cottage Pie' with no thickener for the gravy, mashed swede and a ton of brocilli smothered in butter. I'm stuffed.

No snacks and no desire for them. I will probably have a small glass of red in a minute though (see above comment re attendence at 4 year old's party)

Feeling good. Also checked and my mayo is very low carb, yay!

Pagwatch · 14/09/2013 19:29

Help me out here.
If you were stuck in Starbucks for three hours (8.00 - 11.00am) is there anything to drink?
Is Americano with milk or cream the best option. Flat white?
I will have breakfast before I go

PrimalLass · 14/09/2013 19:43

I know it's not the same as pizza! But we're not eating pizza, are we?!

No, not pizza. Chippy chips. But that was last night and I have been a good girl otherwise Blush
