So here we are! Over 160 of us signed up!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to enter your first weight

If you aren't on the list for any reason, just go to the bottom of the list and add your name - the lovely Willie will sort out the alphabetisation later.

From experience of previous Bootcamps, the chat thread can move very quickly! So, if you have a specific or particular question, please post it on the questions thread I will do my best to check it as often as I can, as will other seasoned Bootcampers.

If you have a really burning issue, please feel free to PM me and I will do my very best to help you as soon as possible.

And if you're looking for inspiration for things to cook, here's the recipe thread

Here is a brief reminder of the rules:

We do not eat any of the following during Bootcamp:

bread
rice
pasta/noodles
potatoes
flour
pastry
sugar
chocolate/sweets
biscuits/cookies
crisps

And here are the ten rules of Bootcamp:

  1. You must eat breakfast.
  2. Avoid processed food
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10. No sugar or artificial sweeteners

More detail/explanation of these rules is on the spreadsheet ? look at the tabs at the bottom.

One final word from me ? the disclaimer! I am not a doctor, a scientist, a dietician nor a nutritionist. The advice that is given here is based on my own experience of low carbing, as well as the reading I have been doing over the last few years.

If you have a medical condition, or you are taking long term medication, please take advice from your GP/consultant before starting to low carb.

Good luck everyone!

Well done purple for not giving in - you will feel a hundred times better tomorrow for it. Hoe our back feels better soon.

Well done for everyone keeping on the bootcamp road - it is sometimes tricky at the beginning remembering everything and being organised. If it helps at all I no find this woe extremely easy wherever we go and whatever we do, it seems completely normal to me now and I cannot tell you how much happier I am. Stick with it, it is hard changing habits of a lifetime, but it is well worth it I promise!

MsIngaFewmarbles · 11/09/2013 18:59

Passthetwiglets, I made a cake for DS birthday when we had LCed for a week. tried a tiny bit and it tasted VILE! It was so sweet and sickly I had to spit it out but everyone else was tucking in.

Today I think I have pre menstrual tiredness and aching. I have a huge pile of reading for uni tomorrow and I just want to go to bed. I've stuck to bootcamp but probably not quite enough water.

pixiegumboot · 11/09/2013 19:04

wow lovely foods. have I missed something, pate and pork scratchings are allowed?? Grin Grin

googoogoggles · 11/09/2013 19:11

Posting without reading as need to give laptop to DD2 for homework (though Mumsnet is obviously way more important)...
Trust everyone doing OK (though have just seen purple's post at top of page – hope you feeling better tomorrow purple. Bit of carb flu today – dizzy at times, dry mouth, etc, but know it will pass.
B Eggs with sauteed mushrooms
L Small shop-bought Caesar salad when out (bit vile to be honest. One measly olive – and I put the few spuds on one side)
S buttery chicken and spoonful of remaining coleslaw (because of vile salad)
D Grilled salmon in butter with green buttery veg
Coffee x 2.5 (full caffeine), much more water but still need to glug another litre or so. Here goes...

Purple2012 · 11/09/2013 19:19

Thanks guys. I know I will feel better if I don't give in. Haven't been able to exercise due to my back so that isn't helping.

Tomorrow I am going to try cinnamon with my yoghurt for breakfast and I have just cooked some chicken in butter to have with salad for lunch so still planning ahead.

Off for a bath soon and an early night. Once I have finished all my water that is. One pint to go!

PrimalLass · 11/09/2013 19:23

Passthetwiglets - have strawberries and cream instead of cake.

For help with drinking water, I find this app really helps. I listen to it in bed (and fall asleep within seconds).

itunes.apple.com/gb/app/virtual-gastric-band-hypnosis/id504835984?mt=8

There is a free version too.

BlackAffronted · 11/09/2013 19:28

Still trying to get to grips with balancing LC eating and college life ... I was a SAHM when I was doing it before and it was much easier!

B - omlette
S - pepperami
L - salad, chicken breast, coleslaw
S- Babybel
D - steak, garlic mushrooms, salad

loopyloou · 11/09/2013 19:28

Pixie, HM pâté is lovely and v v easy. Pork scratchings are carb free but processed junk food, so only eat occasionally. But sometimes it helps to be able to snack on something!

BlackAffronted · 11/09/2013 19:33

Homemade pork crackling/scratchings is fine :) and delicious!

MrsSnuffleupagus · 11/09/2013 19:42

I think I may have overdone the dairy today- yogurt and cream for breakfast, feta with lunch and cauliflower cheese for dinner? Hmm

aftermay · 11/09/2013 19:52

B - feta cheese omelette
L - hummus & celery
D - grilled pork, salad with mayo

BTW - I thought no fruit at all during Bootcamp? Are strawberries ok?

I find it difficult throwing the kids' unwanted food away, the cereal, the toast, half eaten apples & bananas. But it needs to go.

IBO · 11/09/2013 19:58

Hey lovely bootcampers! 3rd day is going to an end and its is nice to know people are losing weight :)

B Greek ff yogurt
L tuna with mayo and few drops of olive oil with cucumber and germ salad leaves
D home made piri piri chicken with home made coleslaw.

I felt like milk today so I had few gulps of milk.. I hope it is not too bad.

1 black coffee, 1 cup of hot bullion with lunch and I'm having ginger tea now.. And loads and loads of water. I'm not counting my water but I'm drinking loads (and weeing even more :) )

Good luck to everyone x

MrsSnuffleupagus · 11/09/2013 19:59

aftermay I think we can have a small amount of berries after the initial two weeks but definitely not before and definitely not banana- far too carby! Although I'm new at this so I could be wrong

BlackAffronted · 11/09/2013 20:00

MrsSnuffle, only if dairy is a problem for you. I seem to tolerate it ok so dont watch my itake at all.

Roobot · 11/09/2013 20:03

Omelette with veg for brekkie
salad with mackerel for lunch
Black farmer sausages witj veg roasted in coconut oil and low carb cheese sauce. Yum.

feel rough though. Think this is deffo a cold as well as carb flu. Yay!

MrsSnuffleupagus · 11/09/2013 20:09

Thanks BlackAffronted I've no idea how I am with dairy so I guess I'll just keep an eye on my weight loss (or lack of)?

PrimalLass · 11/09/2013 20:15

BTW - I thought no fruit at all during Bootcamp? Are strawberries ok?

Bugger, no. But better than cake Grin

Actually, I can usually eat strawbs and still lose weight.

thenightsky · 11/09/2013 20:26

aftermay We are allowed humuus??? Shock

pixiegumboot · 11/09/2013 20:31

loopy, how do you make pate?

CrabbyBigBottom · 11/09/2013 20:32

On bootcamp...
No strawberries in first fortnight
No hummus at all - chickpeas too carby
No milk apart from tiny amount in tea or coffee.

CrabbyBigBottom · 11/09/2013 20:36

Sorry to hear so many people struggling today. Me too - feeling absolutely fucking awful today. Sad Hope tomorrow's better.

B - boiled egg mashed with mayonnaise
L - mozzarella, tomatoes, parma ham
S - few spoonfuls egg mayonnaise
D - smoked mackeral with celeriac mash, roasted broccoli and leeks
S - greek yoghurt with clotted cream and grated vanilla

Roobot · 11/09/2013 20:39

Bulletproof coffee,to, which was rather nice. What do those of you who drink it mix it with... i am wondering if something a bit more powerful than a spoon is the way forward...?!

MrsJoyfulPrizeForRafiaWork · 11/09/2013 20:41

Evening losers Grin

B: Americano with cream. The woman behind me in the queue said 'oh my god, I'd never thought of ordering that, I LOVE coffee with cream!' and promptly ordered the same thing. Yay!

L: not brilliant but I did try. Had a choice of jerk chicken, sausage and salad, or felafel pitta and chips, or pad Thai. Went for the jerk chicken, which was lovely. As was the plantain and sweet potato I was served with it - I ate some of it before I realised what it really was Blush. Oh well, it was all unprocessed and lovely, and there wasn't much of the starchy carbs so... It's got to be better than pitta and chips!

D: two cold low carb sausages and two large mushrooms stuffed with garlic, chopped tomato and cheese.

Water, x2 cups of tea with a tiny splash of milk each time (I like builders tea luckily!)

CiderwithBuda · 11/09/2013 20:48

I really miss hummus. But no thenightsky - it's not allowed.

aftermay - BIWI will be waving her big stick!

No carb flu here thankfully. Big salad with chicken and mayo for lunch. Then met a friend for coffee and had a big Americano with cream.

Was starving when I got back home so had two slices of corned beef.

Dinner was beef stroganoff with cabbage greens fried in butter. It wasn't a big portion so had some cheese afterwards.

Chugging on the water. Am a bit hungry though so will go eat something sensible.

aftermay · 11/09/2013 20:56

No hummus? Damn. I'll go and wash my mouth with more water.
