The other thread was almost full, so here's a bright, shiny new one.

And here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And just in case you haven't discovered it yet, here is the recipe thread. Some truly lovely recipes on here that are worth a try.

I was given recipe by another boot camper! I buy cheese slices (leherdamer or emmenthal - although I can't spell either!!). Cut them into about quarters, i put them on baking parchment on a baking tray, sprinkle with stuff (whatever you like, I like salt and dried chives). Bake in oven for about 10-15 minutes on about 180-200. You have to watch them
Carefully first time in particular as there is a fine line between rubbery and burnt (about 3 minutes!). They will
Bubble and start to change colour, take them out and leave to cool and they go all crisp!! I would do a few at a time first time until you know your oven and heat/timings but they are delish!!!!!

I have had a day of really enjoying my food.
B- 2 boiled eggs, 3 slices Edam (ok a bit unexciting).
L- mozzarella tomato avocado salad with a bit of basil tofu
D- 2 herbed lamb rosettes with baked baby aubergines (baked in chive oil and cumin, with pine nuts), feta crumbled over the top.

I LOVE this way of eating. I was thinking today about what I'd eat if I could eat anything I wanted, and I realised that I could do without carbs a lot of time time. I don't really miss pasta meals or sandwiches - i used to eat them a lot because they were easy default meals. I do miss potatoes (roast, baked, chipped, not boiled or mashed) but I could happily never eat another carrot or parsnip again. I miss noodles but I've now discovered shirataki noodles so can make my favourite noodle meal. Rice, I miss when I have curry but not at other times. Dessert i miss when I eat out but not when at home. I do miss the odd afternoon tea though, which is a bit weird as I could sort of take or leave cake beforehand. But these realisations have made me feel confident that once I've lost the weight I want to lose, I'll be able to maintain without completely losing the plot.

Secondsop · 24/08/2013 22:31

And I just wrote that whole post without even thinking about carby booze so I clearly don't miss it much.

KinkyDorito · 24/08/2013 23:06

Where do you get basil tofu Second?

Secondsop · 24/08/2013 23:09

Ok, I'm back! It ended up being a total of 90 miles. 87 miles round the course and 1.5 either way to the car park.

The last 22 miles were a bit of a killer, partly because some lying git told us the course was 82 miles, not 87, so the final 5 miles were somewhat unexpected.

My nutrition worked out fine, although I gave in to the carbs (needs must) and I didn't need half the food I had brought.

B: Smoked salmon and scrambled egg
Sn @ 25 miles: Banana, handful of macadamias and 1 fly
L @ 46 miles: Vegetable soup, macadamias, finger of cheese
Sn @ 65 miles: Energy wine gum things
Sn @ 82 miles: crunchy peanut butter bar, and some silent, salty tears (did I mention the lies?)
Finish: More macadamias and some cava

I had predicted it would take 7 1/2 hours, including stops, and I came in at 7hrs 20 minutes - average 15 mph.

Pretty pleased with myself, although I'm sure my bum looks like a baboon's!

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/08/2013 18:24

beryl fantastic, the fly was low carb though Grin

BIWI · 25/08/2013 18:50

Fantastic, Beryl - really well done! Hope your bum isn't too sore tomorrow!

Hi all,

Im down to start the Autumn Bootcamp, but after reading Dr Briffas book, decided to start now. Had a big, fresh food order delivered by Asda this morning to help us.

This is my day -

B- Scrambled eggs, with mushrooms and sliced cumberland sausage. 1 cup coffee.

L- 150g pack of chilli chicken chunks (these were in the fridge and needed eating up)20g guacamole to dip.

D- Homemade turkey burgers, with added mexican seasoning and spinach. I had sliced aubergine and flat mushrooms with mine. Also some mexicana cheese and guacamole.

For dessert I had a square of 85% chocolate.
To drink, I've had rooibos and about 2l water.

How does this all sound - i'm definitely not feeling any hunger - more stuffed, uncomfortably so in fact.

PS, congrats to the cyclist! Grin

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/08/2013 19:49

ImaTot that sounds like a good start. Some thing to consider maybe might be some sausages can be quite carby, check individual packs to find the ones lowest in carbs. Black farmer ones are 1g of carbs per sausage which I think is the lowest. When bootcamp starts there are stricter rules for the first two weeks which would mean it would be best to avoid the chocolate for those two weeks, after that they would be fine. I you wanted to go straight to bootcamp light, then no problem I think! Also, just double check the water, there is a table on the spreadsheet that lists weight to lose and how much eater you should drink. I sound really picky - but you've done great and big welcome!!!!!!

NewStartNewStory · 25/08/2013 19:57

Sorry I missed you massive achievement earlier Beryl well done on your massive achievement! Hope you aren't suffering too much tomo.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 25/08/2013 20:07

Thanks MrsH, I've actually just spent the time since my post flicking through the spreadsheet (wow thats a lot of info! Grin) and at 153lbs, I think I'm about right with the water.

The sausage was a leftover, just the one, and no packet info left to check. They were good quality sausages but I don't know how that usually equates to carb count? Ah well, it was a very filling breakfast - more so than my oatibix, definitely.

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/08/2013 20:11

Generally the meatier the better! Honestly it was all fine, this is a lovely way of eating, and breakfasts are definitely more filling than those measly cereal portions!

captainmummy · 25/08/2013 20:31

Beryl - many congrats! What an achievement!
Imatot - welcome. Breakfsts (espp weekend ones) are a real treat - bacon, eggs, mushrooms in butter... see if you can find Lidls nuremberger sausages, they are herby and low-carb too.

Feeling good today - spent the pm baking for the dc; Nigellas gooey chocolate log, choc chip muffins, flapjacks... and have not had any! (Well maybe a quality-control crumb of the log, but not even a whole mouthfull!)

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 25/08/2013 21:47

Oh gosh..... I'm not hungry, really I'm not.

But I really want toast. Delicious seedy bread, dripping with salty butter. What do I do?

Collywibbles · 25/08/2013 21:56

Beryl - that is awesome! Well done you! Make sure you do lots of stretching (if you are not already in bed!)
