The other thread was almost full, so here's a bright, shiny new one.

And here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And just in case you haven't discovered it yet, here is the recipe thread. Some truly lovely recipes on here that are worth a try.

Post up what you've been eating but usually the advice is drink plenty of water and make sure you're having enough fat to help you feel satiated and less likely to succumb to the chocolate devil.

NigellasGuest · 21/08/2013 19:39

Just a bit of chocolate creeping in shouldn't completely undo all your hard work, PinkPeanuts. There are bound to be little setbacks and you don't have to regress loads! You're only human. Just saddle up and ride on!

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 21/08/2013 20:14

Right. I have slowed or stalled at 144lbs. I might be eating too few calories - when I lo

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 21/08/2013 20:17

Argh, silly phone. When I look at net calories on my fitness pal after exercise its often below 1000.

I'm doing shred every day plus 20 min swim.
I'm 5'6- 5'7 and have lost a stone since early July.
I want to lose another 4-7lbs to be under 10 stone
Any thoughts? Thanks...

Secondsop · 21/08/2013 20:29

pinkpeanuts the way I get back on track is to make sure that the next few meals are my absolute favourite low-carb meals. Then I look forward to the food and it really reduces the chances of me straying.

timidviper · 21/08/2013 23:46

Has anyone watched that BBC2 programme called "Welcome to the world of weight loss". God, how depressing! It is following people from diet clubs, WW, SW, RC, etc, it just feels like a real downer watching these people depriving themselves and struggling. It makes me realise how well we eat on this

I have been hungry today for no reason at all so, in addition to my normal food I have eaten a small bag of macadamia nuts and 6 squares of salted chocolate Blush I am at a wedding tomorrow (reception is billed as an italian feast!) then away for the weekend and not in charge of food so am just hoping I won't do too much damage..

BlackAffronted · 22/08/2013 07:38

Trucks, if you are eating when you are hungry, then you should be eating enough. How long have you stalled? 6 weeks of no change on the scales is usually what a proper stall is. Maybe post up a food diary so we can have a look & see?

BlackAffronted · 22/08/2013 07:38

timideviltwin, when was that programe on?

BerylStreep · 22/08/2013 08:59

Trucks I am led to believe that as you get to your body's natural weight, loss starts to slow down anyway. Are you being realistic about what weight you are aiming for?

Secondsop · 22/08/2013 10:09

I watched that timidviper. blackaffronted it was bbc2 I think, 9pm. Found it hard viewing, after a lot of attempts at such stuff in the past (though thankfully I never put myself through the group weigh-in, group hug situation). All those complicated rules for weight loss success, but nothing getting to the heart of finding something properly sustainable to beat hunger and cravings, instead of obsessing over food forever.

timidviper · 22/08/2013 13:02

Yes it was BBC2 at 9pm, don't know if it was repeated.

I was shocked at the woman showing her little food diary book and listing it as this many points for 2 biscuits and this many for fish fingers and this many for a small pack of Smarties. It was all rubbish yet she was delighted at how much crap she could eat on her "diet", no re-education there then!

I also couldn't bear the smugness of the class leader who had eaten nothing but a Mullerlight and a banana that day but thought she had learned how to be in control of food.

How's things going evil twinnie? It sounds, from some of your posts, like you and I are following the same zigzag route to weight loss! Grin

Secondsop · 22/08/2013 14:54

Yes timidviper I thought exactly the same. And that conversation about cottage cheese! And the woman who was practically self-flagellating over the scampi and chips - those diets just seem so depressing, with the constant vigilance and restraint and fight against hunger. A lot of processed foods too eg low fat everything, special cereal bars, etc.

PinkPeanuts · 22/08/2013 15:08

Thanks so much for the replies, I've been reading through this thread and I'm feeling far more motivated today.

Breakfast was scrambled eggs made with double cream, after my workout I had some king prawns a some babybel cheese, I'm having a late lunch of steamed cod with spinach and mushrooms. So far so good!

KinkyDorito · 22/08/2013 17:14

Hi all

A question - starting as a vegetarian, can I eat nuts and seeds in the first phase of bootcamp?

I'm determined to have another shot at low carb after my first went horribly wrong (dark as possible on ketosis sticks doing Atkins, felt really ill, drinking liters of water and still dehydrated). I think the less than 20g carbs was very severe and I like the bootcamp approach of being careful but not too strict with vege counting. I was having very little on Atkins.

I need to try low carb though as I know I have a serious problem with carbs; I have chronic IBS and I've just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I'm not expecting this to cure me, but I would like to feel better. This time, it's not about weight for me. I am very overweight, but I'm more worried about my health. My DD just finished cancer treatment after 2.5yrs and now I'm feeling crap. I want our household to be in better health, and like it or not, I know having a better diet is a big part of that. I work FT and have often gone for quick and easy pasta based meals. This needs to stop. Nobody should be hooked on penne!! I also feel like I'm letting DCs down by not exploring better options. Definitely heading back to meat, potatoes and two veg for them (Briffa-style; no meat or potatoes for me).

The more I read, the more low carb seems to be the way forward for health. I am a bit nervous about ketosis after last time, but hoping to get some hand-holding and support from you all. Thanks

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 22/08/2013 17:16

Beryl, Black, thanks for replies.
I'm 144lbs now so 10 stone 4.
Was 157lb start of July so lost a stone.
I want to be just under 10 stone, am 5'6 and a half and 42 years.
Am on Bootcamp Light/primal as BF and I fast (500-600 calories) once or twice a week.
I Shred and swim most days.

A typical non fast day is protein plus salad for lunch and meat or fish plus salad for dinner, olive oil on salad, coconut oil drunk first thing, cheese and ham or chorizo as snack.
Have been having 1 glass dry white for last week which might explain why scales have stuck for two weeks.

It could also be that my calories are too low - about 1650 a day but I'm burning 300 in exercise and also breast feeding 3-4 x day. So about 1100 net calories.

Or it might just be that I'm building muscle and very close to my target.

Dunno. As an experiment I ate 2100 calories yesterday and the scales moved half a pound first thing, which they've not done for a while.

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/08/2013 17:37

trucks that is good news, maybe body just slowing towards goal as others have said I should think (and the wine probs!!!).

kinky welcome! There will be. Others more knowledgeable about veggie low carb along I am sure, but I know rose Elliot's book low carb vegetarian has been mentioned a lot previously. I think there are also some amended rules for vegetarians on the spreadsheet, which I think allows some nuts from. The beginning. Link to spreadsheet in OP, and I think it will be on one of the tabs on there!

How is your DD now? That mst have been a v stressful time for you, others who suffer from IBS and fibro report that they feel better on this woe so hopefully you'll be feeling a million dollars very soon!

BlackAffronted · 22/08/2013 17:54

yep timidtwin, I am definetely zigzagging! At least its mostly down, and that I stick to this woe most of the time. If id been on a diet, id have given up ages ago and not hopped back on.

Trucks, you have lost loads last month, your body is probably just adjusting. I oftn go weeks without any loss then bam, drop loads overnight.

Kinky, Im a big meat eater, s cant answer your Qs, buit there are some veggies who are having ggreat success so Im sure they will be along to give some great advice :)

Going to go watch that programe onn iplayer, if its there. The Men Who Made Us Thin is on tonight too.

KinkyDorito · 22/08/2013 18:10

Thanks Black.

Mrs DD not bad - a bit of a way to go to get back to normal. It's been really hard going, especially as I've had to work through much of her treatment as we couldn't afford for me to be off. She finished in April so by October should be back to full blood counts and we will be working on her fitness together. She's carrying a load of steroid weight which is getting her down (she was 15 last week), so I'm hoping a less carb-based diet will be good for her too. She enjoys meat so will be very happy if I start to cook more of it. I now cook none - a steep learning curve for me ahead!

I found the info on the spreadsheet and that answered my question Thanks.

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/08/2013 18:56

That sounds tough, but sounds like you have a great plan to get fit and feel better together!

78bunion · 22/08/2013 19:50

(Last night's BBC 2 programme - "welcome to the world of weight loss" www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03906f5/Welcome_to_the_World_of_Weight_Loss/ was just full of processed foods, bars, WW products, the foods many of them ate at home - artificial non real food. They newd to do it this way instead.)

Neitheronethingortheother · 22/08/2013 19:58

Hi all I have signed up for the next bootcamp. Just back from holidays which I loved except I felt so fat the whole time. Came back on Tuesday and went straight to lc from lunch time onwards. Sticking well to it so far. Just had a lovely steak fried in garlic butter and a big salad for dinner.

Whats good again for breakfasts. I had bacon, egg, mushroom this morning and yesterday morning but would find that too much every morning. Would like a light choice also for breakfasts.

Went for a 5km run today and yesterday also. had to stop a few times but it was good to get out again as its last year since I ran.

Looking forward to reading through the posts and recipes.

TheRedRabbit · 22/08/2013 20:13

neitherone this morning I had a smoothie made with frozen mixed berries, full fat greek yoghurt and coconut creme. It felt very light and was very quick to make with a stick blender.

I had a random lunch as had run out of food and not planned anything so I made a curry with frozen spinach and feta cheese on top. I thought it would be weird but it was lovely!

Have made mexican mince tonight which we will have with guacamole, grated cheese and a bit of sour cream. Yum.

Bonus is that the DCs can have it for dinner tomorrow and I will mix in some baked beans and rice for super quick dinner for them.

I definitely don't feel like I'm on a diet, other than having to avoid desserts. I just couldn't face calorie counting, feeling hungry all the time would make me really miserable and its just not sustainable.

prettybird · 22/08/2013 21:50

For breakfast (or a snack) I have a couple of dessert spoons of FF Greek Yoghurt with a slosh of double cream and some cinnamon, all stirred together. If I have them and I'm on Boot Camp Light, I'll also add a few blueberries, raspberries or sliced strawberries. Yummy. Smile

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 22/08/2013 22:31

My lunchtime salad was yum.
Dry fried chorizo slices, crumbled into green salad when cooled, then stir fried defrosted shrimp in the chorizo oil in the pan, chucked shrimp in salad with some olives and a spoonful of olive oil and lime juice.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 22/08/2013 22:32

Light breakfast - ham or smoked salmon spread with soft cheese or sour cream, rolled up, with black pepper?
