The other thread was almost full, so here's a bright, shiny new one.

And here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And just in case you haven't discovered it yet, here is the recipe thread. Some truly lovely recipes on here that are worth a try.

Black - if you lose 10lbs in one week you really can't expect to lose again the next week! I think you have to a bit more realistic in terms of your expectations

Cheese - it does sound like you've reached the 4th week plateau! Keep on keeping on and things will get going for you again soon. Don't change what you're doing as its obviously working.

What me? Lost 1 lb on holiday!!!!!!! HURRAH FOR THIS WOE!!!!!!

SamanthaJones · 19/08/2013 09:50

Cheese, check sugar hasn't crept in somewhere - read labels religiously. Eg mayo and lots of other unexpected things have sugar in them. Or dextrose / glucose, which is still sugar.

SamanthaJones · 19/08/2013 09:54

Tbh I don't discuss my WOE with anyone except dh / Internet fora people because I can't be doing with the naysayers.

There is nothing wrong with eating fish, meat, veg, salad, olive oil, butter, and no sugar, no bread, no pasta. I can't think why anyone would disagree.

But we are so conditioned to think

  • fruit is very good for you
  • carbs are important
  • that sugar is FINE

That it's hard to convince people otherwise. Oh well, I'm 3 stone down so v's up to them, frankly!

Wise words!

Morning all. Quite excited that bootcamp will be starting again in September! I have been very guilty of carb creep, especially where alcohol and berries are concerned (and more lately, Lindt 90% choc), although I am happy to say I haven't gained (haven't lost either though).

I was at friends for a meal last night which involved some crisps, ice cream and tray bake. The crisps I could have avoided, but my friend was so proud of the tray bake and ice cream that I thought to refuse would cause too much hurt. As it was, I didn't enjoy them, too sweet, and only ate about 1/3 of the tray bake, and then DH hoovered up the rest.

My 86 mile cycle event is this Sunday, and I am really looking forward to it, although hoping I can manage it - the furthest I have cycled is still 36 miles, although I can do that quite comfortably. Some of my friends who are also doing it are talking about perhaps only doing half or 3/4 of it, but I am the sort of person who just can't have that sort of outlook. If I allow even the tiniest amount of doubt to creep in, I will self sabotage before I have even started.

Anyway, my focus of this week is absolutely zero alcohol, and lots and lots of water. I also need to think about what food I can bring with me, in a tiny cycle pouch. There are breaks at 20 miles, 40 miles and 60 miles, with snacks and lunch provided, but I suspect it will be carb city.

I was thinking of 2 boiled eggs with sachets of mayo, some individual portions of cheese, and a bag of macadamias. That will probably be the most I can carry.

Secondsop · 19/08/2013 14:38

beryl those snacks sound good to me. Although I can't really contemplate what would be good in the context of an 86-mile cycle ride! Good luck - sounds amazing.

Secondsop · 19/08/2013 14:39

Finally tried my shirataki noodles last night, in a sort of stir fry with tuna and veg. I liked them! I don't think I'd have been able to tell the difference between them and rice noodles, cooked the way I did them. Definitely getting them again.

prettybird · 19/08/2013 14:45

Beryl - I've taken the mini peperami you get in Lidl and some babybels on cycle rides. They are small and slip easily into pockets of cycle jackets.

CheeseAndFriedMushrooms · 19/08/2013 14:52

Just to let you know that sainsburys have 25% off Lindt excellence chocolate, they had some 75% and 80% and 90% cocoa ones

CheeseAndFriedMushrooms · 19/08/2013 14:53

Sorry beryl just scrolled down and saw your post about carb creep and Lindt.....Hmm

milliemoomay · 19/08/2013 15:05

Hello - it's been yonks since I posted. I've been away on my holibobs in the land of carbs - Italy. Pizza, focaccia, pasta... all those around were scoffing away but what was worse is that they were casting aspersions on my WOE.

I never complained once, didn't martyr myself in the least (as one 'friend' said that complaining about missing pizza wasn't on if I had made the choice not to eat out - true, I guess). And yet I got a earful about my woe.

There were a few debates about food and 'fussy eaters' - I was quite shocked at people's general lack of support or understanding.

Aside from that it was a good holiday - and I only put on a pound (think that might have been from the general inertia - lots of lying around by the pool and supping a fine red!)

Great to come back to the embrace of this warm and comforting thread.

GermanGirlinLDN · 19/08/2013 15:09

Hello,

I am having a really bad day today. Ate so much rubbish. My mother has been admitted to hospital again and I can't go and visit her. The day started so well and now I am in such a horrible mood again and eat for comfort.

MrsHerculePoirot · 19/08/2013 16:41

german sorry to hear about your mum. Take a minute, don't panic about the food. What is eaten is done, but try to remember for next time that it didn't make you feel better or improve the situation, and in fact you a more annoyed with yourself now and have posted here. Draw a line, drink a tonne of water and just move on with the food, try not to write off the rest of the day (someone said once if you accidentally scratched your phone would you then think fuck it and jump up nd down on it!!!). Big hugs and I hope your mum and you are ok.

Disclaimer: I have emotionally eaten for England in the past for years and am on,y just learning not to do so, eg do what I say not what I do post Wink

BerylStreep · 19/08/2013 16:48

Millie welcome back. It's weird how lc induces people to feel they have a right to comment on what you put in your body.

I have been guilty of manufacturing ailments to cover just wanting to lc, so I have claimed to be diabetic, wheat intolerant or coeliac in the past, rather than being viewed as a fusspot.

Sorry to hear about your Mum, remember that you can only control what you can. You can't control about your mum being in hospital, but you can control what you eat. I know how it is though, my mum was in hospital a couple of months ago and it is really worrying.

BerylStreep · 19/08/2013 16:49

Last part of my post was meant for German btw.
