The other thread was almost full, so here's a bright, shiny new one.

And here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And just in case you haven't discovered it yet, here is the recipe thread. Some truly lovely recipes on here that are worth a try.

Got your big stick ready BIWI?

B: sausages, bacon and mushrooms
L: tacos supreme and Mexican fries at Taco Bell Blush
S: two sushi rolls
D: barbecued ribs, salt and chilli deep fried squid and a tiny quantity of rice

BIWI · 17/08/2013 20:54
Shock

I'm assuming, StuntNun, that this behaviour will stop once we're on Bootcamp?

OP posts:
StuntNun · 17/08/2013 22:17

This behaviour will stop tomorrow. Maybe I can plead temporary insanity due to a completely horrendous night of baby crying.

LilyAmaryllis · 17/08/2013 23:08

My mum arrived to go on holiday with us. She falls over backwards at my new slimmer shape (hasn't clapped eyes on me for 2 months).

Within seconds she is saying "how long are you going to be on this diet, I think its really unhealthy". I try not to feel quite insulted while saying, "well, you see" thinking she will see what my meals actually are over this week and maybe revise her opinion.

Arrive at holiday destination, I go out to shops to get some food in for first couple of days. Mum unpacking the shopping bags: "What a lot of vegetables!" Me: "I need them for my unhealthy diet" Smile

(I also heard a squeak of "Double Cream!!")

PS pleased about the 9th September news - I have carried on since the May bootcamp but it will be a good focus and I will actually buy scales so I can take part properly watch weight fluctuating and get all worried

Lighthousekeeping · 18/08/2013 11:13

Good god boot camp gives you the worst hangovers!!! I thought my head would fall off this morning, that'll teach me.

I have a chicken to roast today. Does cauliflower, leeks and spinach sound like too much veg? What can I do to liven them up? I don't want to spend anymore money. I need to eat what I've bought for boot camp.

I've bought a new water filter half price it's really saved the penny's. I just fill a two litre bottle up for work.

Secondsop · 18/08/2013 11:22

lighthousekeeping you could crumble a bit of cheese on the veg once it's cooked? I often do roast veg with goat's cheese or feta. I sometimes do myself a cauliflower cheese when I do a roast chicken as it's one thing that (just about) makes up for missing out on my [amazing] roast potatoes (I couldn't cook it for my husband without the potatoes as there'd be a revolt).

Lighthousekeeping · 18/08/2013 11:44

I love my roasties well, Jamie Oliver's.

BIWI · 18/08/2013 13:48

Roast the cauliflower - good sloosh (technical term) in olive oil, season with sea salt, black pepper and ground cumin. A few chilli flakes are good too. Takes around 20 minutes till florets are soft/charred. If you have some shallots, they are lovely with the cauliflower.

Leeks - slice diagonally and then pan-fry in butter; if you have any cream, add a couple of tablespoons when they are cooked (take no time at all to cook)

Spinach - if it's fresh, rinse and then throw into a pan over a medium heat and stir till it's wilted; drain in a sieve/colander and while it's draining, melt some butter in the pan and add a finely chopped clove of garlic. Cook briefly, to take the raw edge off the garlic, then tip the spinach back into the pan, and stir so that it's all coated in garlic butter.

Hello losers! I am back from two weeks in Italy, think I was pretty good, scales will tell in the morning. I found it amazingly easy to mostly stay on this woe, and for the first time ever it truly feels like a woe and not a diet if that makes sense. I did have the odd ice cream (but also took my lolly moulds and froze diet drinks for other days) and desert (mostly panne cotta with berries) but never had pasta and only had half a pizza one day with a salad instead of just the whole pizza and pudding! I took clothes that I could only just get into and could still do them up at the end of the two weeks... I wan't it to be the morning, so I can see the truth!!!

Two weeks before my new job starts and so two good weeks for me, followed by clothes shopping I think!

BlackAffronted · 18/08/2013 16:50

Hope you had a fab time MrsHP :) and well done on keeping to the woe.

BIWI · 18/08/2013 16:51

Brilliant, MrsHP!

Thread in Chat right now, with posters saying how healthy carbs & potatoes are for us. I give up Grin

timidviper · 18/08/2013 17:34

I looked at it Black and almost posted but then just thought what would be the point? They are convinved that the status quo is right so to try and argue with them is pointless.

BlackAffronted · 18/08/2013 18:05

Thats why I stopped posting. Unless they have read up on it, there is sense in a pointless discussion.

Negroni · 18/08/2013 18:41

Well done Mrs HP !

I am hoping to stay on this WOE during my holiday starting this Saturday if I don't may end up starting new bootcamp heavier than at end of last one

StuntNun · 18/08/2013 18:53

I've stuck my oar in on the Chat thread as well. Smile I seem to be back on track after yesterday's departure from the WOE. Are the carb cravings going to hit me big style tomorrow?

B: strawberries, double cream and Greek yoghurt
L: trout salad
S: pork scratchings - just a few
D: roast beef, half a roast spud, cabbage, leek and mushrooms, followed by two squares of 85% dark chocolate for dessert

BIWI · 18/08/2013 19:16

I started off posting fairly neutral stuff on that thread, but should have known better.

Being told by people who are overweight that low carbing doesn't work is ridiculous!

(I know some of those posters, and I know their situation)

Just read that other thread. Was tempted to wade in with a comment about fruit (as isnt fructose in fact particularly fat-forming as it sort of short-circuits some of the body's processes and pretty much goes straight to the pancreas?) but I would have got all wound up. Plus low carbers had already been described as worse than scientologists and i didnt think that proclaiming "THE FOOD REVOLUTION IS COMING!! would help matters. I always find it odd that people describe low carb as "cutting out a whole food group", but low fat never seems subject to the same analysis. Also, describing LC as a fad that we'll see the back of in 10-15 years is also odd given that until around the 70s, it had been conventional medical orthodoxy that it was carbs that made people fat.

LilyAmaryllis · 18/08/2013 22:33

Brilliant points Secondsop!

With my dinner tonight I had a particularly delicious mix of onion, courgette and chard fried in a mix of olive oil and butter. It was much more delicious than I thought it would be - it was worth me experimenting.

prettybird · 18/08/2013 23:10

Lovely dinner tonight of roast chicken (and crispy skin of course Grin), cumin roasted cauliflower and butter braised cabbage and a nice glass of wine

I'm really enjoying this "fad". Smile

timidviper · 19/08/2013 01:03

Me too Prettybird. I had a bad start to the day and a lunch out which was not brilliant but had roasted chicken thigh with mushrooms, garlic and green beans in cream sauce for tea so feel a bit better!

I posted on THAT thread too Blush

CheeseAndFriedMushrooms · 19/08/2013 07:46

Morning all. I'm plodding along with this WOE, have lost ten pounds so far, but weight loss seems to have stalled Hmmany ideas? I'm not counting carbs specifically but I'm estimating no more than 40g a day. Drinking loads of water ( haven't had any squash or coke in 4 weeks - those that know me are amazed!)

prettybird · 19/08/2013 08:00

If your mention of 4 weeks is a clue, then I'd say you were in the commonly experienced Week 3-4 (or 5) stall.

Have patience and keep the faith and the scales will start moving again. Smile

Maybe watch your dairy - some people find that that stalls them.

sybilfaulty · 19/08/2013 08:05

Hello from Devon.

I think sidestepping that thread is wise. Several people font want to listen. Besides, as you look sadly at your WW fake food phantom bar, chock full of artificial everything, it must be very hard to accept that LC food is so delicious, healthy and can help you lose weight.

I've been making a Jamie Oliver coleslaw type salad which is so gorgeous. No carrots but plenty of chilli. Will post on recipe thread.

Off to beach shortly. But have promised kids pancakes first. Lets hope the holiday kitchen has a whisk !

BlackAffronted · 19/08/2013 08:05

Cheese, I lost nothing at all last week after losing 10b the week before. No idea why it happens on this woe, but it does happen to me all the time and I find it so frustrating.
