The other thread was almost full, so here's a bright, shiny new one.

And here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And just in case you haven't discovered it yet, here is the recipe thread. Some truly lovely recipes on here that are worth a try.

IBO I've been having tuna mayo or egg mayo every day for lunch, fairly fed up of them now.

Twit · 16/08/2013 20:22

Thanks for the suggestions, yes cauliflower is a good filler, I should tell you all I can't get celeriac here Wink though...
I have been making courgette wedges or chips for me instead of lots of things as well. The soup suggestion is great (if I can find one online) as I find they are good on the go (and freeze able) but the pie and quiche... Way out of my league I'm afraid (I really am that crap).

daisychicken · 16/08/2013 20:26

Which pie Twit? The cheeseburger pie is more like a shepherds pie but with an eggy cheese top and quiche is easy too! I can pm recipes if you like? Honestly, not difficult - I promise!

Twit · 16/08/2013 20:30

I tried making flaxseed pancakes, very disappointing. My treat is cream, flaxseed and (again) blueberries. If you leave it for a while te ground flaxseed soaks up the cream a bit. I have added ginger and nutmeg separately to add a bit more taste to it but usually don't, I like plain food. My favourite is roasted peppers, aubergine & courgettes in butter without meat and cheese if I'm honest, but have to go easy on that I think because of the peppers.

CheeseAndFriedMushrooms · 16/08/2013 23:32

I did not know that you could have alcohol on bootcamp light Shock

Secondsop · 17/08/2013 00:55

Ok so. I was planning to do ubercamp in September when I go back to work after maternity leave. But looking at it, and the meals, it's triggering all sorts of reactions and emotions in me about restrained eating and dieting. The thing I like about low carbing is that i find it a very low-stress, natural way of eating, and I'm never hungry or worried about being hungry, and I feel I've broken a big emotional connection I had with food where I grew up eating things I didn't like and so used to panic and absolutely fill my face with the things I did like when I got them , as I didn't know when I'd next get it. This mindset continued into adulthood eg if at a restaurant, I'd automatically order the biggest thing I could, rather than thinking about how hungry I was and what I actually wanted to eat. I really feel I've broken that now, to the extent that I can plan a "cheat" without going completely off-piste. I'm worried at what the prospect of ubercamp is doing to my head. The thought of eating specified meals and specified portion sizes, like I did when I was younger and ate whatever my mum made and rarely felt satisfied after a meal, is absolutely terrifying me.

StuntNun · 17/08/2013 06:45

Seems like a very good reason not to ubercamp then Secondsop. There's no point messing with your head like that. Are you still going to bootcamp in September or maybe wait for the next bootcamp en masse in October?

StuntNun · 17/08/2013 06:59

I had an awful night, DS3 was up crying every 20 minutes. WIBU to go to Taco Bell?

Secondsop · 17/08/2013 08:39

stuntnun I still want to bootcamp in Sept - I think it would be a good discipline to start back at work on it.

Resist the lure of the Bell! When I've had a bad night with my baby I go to the cafe for a fry up.

Cherrypi · 17/08/2013 09:05

I watched it Nigella's guest. Finding it a fascinating series like his last one.

BIWI · 17/08/2013 10:36

Übercamp was created to be an ultra strict dairy-free plan. No need to even consider it. Bootcamp is strict enough for most.

Please, please, please don't even consider über camp if you have any kind of concern about food or any history of disordered eating if you are worried it might trigger this.

BOOTCAMP IS DESIGNED TO INTRODUCE PEOPLE TO A HEALTHIER WAY OF EATING THAT IS BASED ON LOW CARBOHYDRATE AND NATURAL, UNPROCESSED FOODS. IT IS ALSO INTENDED TO BE EASY TO FOLLOW, IN THAT FOOD SHOULD BE DELICIOUS, THERE IS NO WEIGHING OR COUNTING AND YOUR APPETITE SHOULD BE CONTROLLED, SO THAT YOU ARE SATISFIED, REPLETE AND NOT HUNGRY. IT IS NOT ABOUT DEPRIVATION!

Sorry for the shouting, but it is so important. I do not want ANYONE to start this WOE under any kind of misapprehension.

OP posts:
StuntNun · 17/08/2013 13:53

So what is the point of ubercamp then BIWI? I was hoping to use it to kickstart a second bout of weight loss, going on to bootcamp and then back to bootcamp light. I have definitely been prone to carb creep and cheating so I'm using ubercamp to 'reset' my eating habits back to the WOE.

BIWI · 17/08/2013 14:09

You can use it like that if you like - it was designed to help people really work out if they are affected by dairy, but also as a super-strict plan to get back on track. (That's why it's also only 3 days - it's pretty difficult!)

BREAKING NEWS!

The next Bootcamp will be starting on 9 September

timidviper · 17/08/2013 17:49

Secondsop I can sympathise with your post and, as BIWI said, Ubercamp is probably not for those of us who have food issues / disordered eating. It can be useful for those near to goal or struggling with portion size or needing to cut out milk.

I got to my very large size without realising the emotional connection I have with food as I don't fit into the obvious "emotional eaters" things they harp on about at WW, SW, etc but eventually realised that the panic I feel if I think food may not be available is not normal (it sounds obvious written out like this but it took me years to realise!)

I love this WOE as I do not feel deprived, in fact the food is so good I feel positively pampered! Ubercamp would bring back thoughts of dieting and failing for me so I don't do it, if I need to step up I just have a couple of stricter days.

Negroni · 17/08/2013 17:54

BIWI Excited! Thank you! My eating has been a bit meh lately but now determined to start the new bootcamp lower than I ended the last one.

(Not caught up with the rest of the thread yet but saw the announcement and had to post!)

BlackAffronted · 17/08/2013 18:12

My favourite food right now is mashed neep with loads of butter and salt & pepper prettybird, just had loads with some of DHs mince. I also love it roasted. I buy a couple of neeps a week.

BIWI · 17/08/2013 18:14

Oh yes - I bought one today! Am going to make roasted wedges tonight, sprinkled with chilli flakes and lots of olive oil, black pepper and sea salt, to go with fillet steak and salad.

OP posts:
BlackAffronted · 17/08/2013 18:16

secondsop, I am the same, ubercamp petrifies me!

BlackAffronted · 17/08/2013 18:19

Parmesan sprinkled on neep wedges is fab too. Add 5/10 minutes near the end of the cooking time.

BIWI · 17/08/2013 18:26

I should also point out that I haven't ever contemplated ubercamp either Grin

OP posts:
Secondsop · 17/08/2013 19:36

+timidviper* yes - I could have written your post. The mere thought of being "on a diet" scares the bejesus out of me, which is why I love this way of eating - I really don't see myself as "on a diet" - this is just how I eat now. And I'm eating such delicious food.

Secondsop · 17/08/2013 19:42

And timidviper I know exactly what you mean about not fitting into classic emotional eater territory. I was never an "eat when I"m feeling down" type - it's all more complicated than that. Actually this is one of the ways that I part company with the Idiot Proof Diet as it talks about learning to see food as fuel, whereas I think there is a healthy way to see food as something more - something to enjoy and to explore.
