Well done everyone who completed the Summer Bootcamp!

here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you want to continue adding to it

Obviously there are many of us who want to continue, either to lose more weight or just for general support to help with this WOE, so here is a brand new, shiny chat thread.

As for me, having slipped a lot a little when I was away, I'm firmly back on the wagon today.

And can I remind you, that if you haven't completed the survey we would be very grateful for your views/thoughts on how we can improve Bootcamp.

God Mouse I'm so sorry. Sad That's exactly what happened to this lad, nothing whatsoever he could do to avoid her and he was in a 60 limit so going fast too. I've been hyper-aware and anxious at junctions since Friday, which is no bad thing, frankly.

Sorry to keep banging on about this, but it's been so much on my mind. Anyway, this is a lovely positive...
Yesterday, after much debating whether I should, I sent a card to this lad with a note telling him I'm so glad that he's ok and that him and his family have been very much in our thoughts. This evening I got an absolutely lovely phonecall from him!! Smile Smile Smile
He was really happy to get my card, he's being transferred tonight to a local hospital (he was flown to a regional trauma centre) and would love me to go and see him. Smile He's feeling much better and is on the mend. I feel all warm and fuzzy! Grin

So, a nice footnote to a horrible incident, and I shall stop derailing the thread now! Blush

Food today
B - couple slices cheddar and some little tomatoes
late L - leftover curry stuffed in the remainder of the naan Blush
D - DH making beef stroganoff. If I'm hungry later then I'll have some with courgette pasta.
I'm having a glass of wine, my answer to any emotional event. Hmm

Crabby - (SORRY EVERYONE TO HIJACK) it's shit isn't it? Only last week, a motorbike was hit by a car at the top of the road that leads out of our village, the biker was airlifted to hospital and AFAIK, he's alive and making a good recovery but the car was left by the road for days, it was very badly damaged and it just makes you think, even though cars are designed to 'crumple on impact' these days, it's still pretty bad if the side wing was touching the windscreen.

The driver was elderly too, alive but injured. Sad

We were coming home from seeing my parents in Manchester on Sunday and a car pulled out into the path of a biker, DH braked pretty hard, expecting the car to smash into the bike, put his hazards on and waved his arm out of the window to warn other drivers behind that they needed to slow down.

It really shook us all up, the guy on the bike was livid, but alive, he wasn't hit and when he finally got level with the car that pulled back in out of his way, (he just pulled out into the bikers lane, no mirror check, no indicator or signals, nowt) the biker just pointed at his own eyes as if to say 'Look where you're going'

I was so horrified by the complete disregard for others by the guy driving the car. When we got level with him, he looked as though he couldn't give a shite!

Right, no more....... sorry for the gruesome posting

CrabbyBigBottom · 23/07/2013 18:58

Mouse it is scary, because you can be the best, most careful and skilled motorcyclist in the world, driving defensively, but if someone just pulls straight across you because they haven't seen you, you're screwed.

Eglute · 23/07/2013 19:08

Hey

Just to share my menu today

B mushrooms and asparagus fried in butter and 2 rashes of smoky bacon
L rocket salad with 100 g feta and 2 little onions topped with full fat yogurt and avocado and drizzle of olive oil
D pan fried trout fille with few green beans and broccoli with dill and double cream sauce

A lot of water.

Any comments would be appreciated. Am I eating correctly being in boot camp? I cannot believe this is actually a diet that helps to lose weight. I'm not struggling at all. No cravings for carbs or no snacking. I feel absolutely full and happy :)

MustTidyUpMustTidyUp · 23/07/2013 19:13

Thanks for the stick BIWI I'm still sticking at it. Am in week four and off on holiday next week to France. What am I going to do about croissants? Wink

My friend baked some beautiful cup cakes filled with fresh strawberries and a little drizzled icing on top. I resisted. So far. There are leftovers an tomorrow I will be hungover. Arggggghhh.

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/07/2013 19:38

mouse and crabby so sorry to hear your stories.

eglute looks good!

B - scrambled egg and fried button mushrooms
D - lettuce, tomato, sausages, asparagus, courgette, cucumber
S - some anchovy stuffed olives

LilyAmaryllis · 23/07/2013 19:50

My appetite has also fallen off the edge of the world. I guess its the hot weather.
B - scrambled egg and cucumber with oily dressing
L - smoked mackerel, salad, mayo
D - nothing so far... no appetite and no ideas. I'd have yogurt and strawberries apart from the fact that its the mistake 0% fat tub. Maybe I'll have to fry an egg later!

Also I've had an uncharacteristically active day. I'm usually v sedentary. Today involved a soft-play centre, a long trip to the playground AND going swimming with the kids. Better than the office!

StuntNun · 23/07/2013 19:50

Today was screwed up by a couple of glasses of white wine but we're celebrating accepting an offer on our house.

B: 5 strawberries and 160g Greek yoghurt
L: 2 chicken wings and one thigh, mushrooms fried in butter
D: roast chicken (DH didn't know what I had for lunch) with broccoli and courgettes fried in butter plus the aforementioned wine

Scales please be kind to me! Wink

CrabbyBigBottom · 23/07/2013 20:04

MrsH it's all good and a happy ending on my one! Smile Smile (still very happy!)

WillieWaggledagger · 23/07/2013 21:13

yup crabby, when dad used to ride a motorbike he said you had to ride it like everyone wanted to kill you. he had to sell his bike when i was born as mum said they couldn't take a baby on the back of a bike and should buy a car Grin

WillieWaggledagger · 23/07/2013 21:13

that all looks good eglute, though i wouldn't include much more dairy than you already are. some people find that too much dairy can stop them losing weight, but if you're enjoying what you're eating and you're happy with your progress when you come to weighing then don't worry. especially in the first few weeks of low carbing when it's more important to get used to the new way of eating - you can tweak later if you need to, and chances are you'll be fine with dairy anyway

careful with the onions too, as they can be a bit carby

you really sound like you're enjoying this way of eating which is fantastic!

CrabbyBigBottom · 23/07/2013 21:47

Eglute can I suggest you substitute escallion shallots for onions - much less carby and a lovely flavour.

Willy my dad was a police driving instructor at Hendon (the training school for the Met). I was taught to drive (for the second time) by one of his (very very veeeeeery patient) colleagues who's main point was always to expect other drivers to do something stupid and dangerous! Grin He was absolutely right. My first driving instructor (3 yrs earlier) was an ex-SAS guy (we lived in Hereford) who basically said exactly the same thing, although he also had some very strong opinions on drivers wearing hats - whatever you do stay away from them; they'll do something unpredictable and dangerous. He was right too, although I failed my first test by trying to do a hill start in 3rd instead of 1st and then bursting into tears. Grin Between them they stood me in pretty good stead though.

My dad had a motorbike (and taught motorcyclists at Hendon) when I was a kid, even though my mum absolutely hated them after seeing a motorcyclist knocked from his bike and straight under the wheels of the bus on which she was travelling (he was killed) when she was young. She told me this weekend that even though she was absolutely petrified of them, he persuaded her to go on the back for a 'very slow ride around the block' and then did 90mph up the dual carriageway with her. Hmm My dad was a bit of a nasty fucker at times, to say the least.

Although the best times I ever had with him were years later when he got a pan european and used to take me out on the back. He was a very very good driver. That's probably the best thing I can say about him tbh. He could be very generous too.

CrabbyBigBottom · 23/07/2013 21:47

Shock whose not who's! Blush

CrabbyBigBottom · 23/07/2013 21:49

Just read that back and I'm sorry for such a splurge of consciousness. I'm a bit tired and emotional. Hmm

CorrieDale · 24/07/2013 06:39

Step away from the cupcakes MustTtidyup. They will be miles too sweet - cupcakes always are.

BeenieBaby · 24/07/2013 07:12

Wow it's day 3 and I've already lost 2.5lbs!! Definitely less hungry today!

Eglute · 24/07/2013 07:57

Good morning all

Thanks for your advices and comments - much appreciated. My Ipad decided to autocorrect tomatoes for onions :) I would be a bit stinky is I had 50g of rocket with 2 little onions :)

I am still learning about this WOE but it has been brilliant so far. The best diet ever. It is really hard to believe that it is possible to lose weight that way. I haven't felt hungry since Sunday when I started low-carbing :)

I also walked to work today (it took me a bit more than an hour) so I hope it will help with weight loss as well :)

Thank you again and have a lovely day everybody :)

PS pardon my English as I am not native English speaker :)

Eglute · 24/07/2013 07:59

BenieBaby - well done!! It is myfourth day and I have lost 2.5 lbs too :)

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/07/2013 08:05

3 days of Ubercamp = 3lbs down! V v happy. I've broken the 10 stone barrier, too, and am now 9 stone 12 and a quarter. Yippee!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/07/2013 08:05

Now must not fuck it up...

Eglute · 24/07/2013 08:11

TooExtraImmatureCheddar - wow great results! and amazing weight! Well done Flowers

How long have you been doing this WOE?
And I saw some other girls mentioning ubercamp. What is it?

Cherrypi · 24/07/2013 08:39

Argh 4lbs on this morning. I cheated yesterday. I had a piece of gluten free bread with my lunch out and a pot of tea with milk. I had a teaspoon of my son's mashed potato and worst of all a chocolate hob nob. Also not drinking enough water - only 3 glasses yesterday.

So fresh start this morning. Had bacon and butter fried mushrooms for breakfast and 4 glasses of water.

Toddler has hospital appointment an hour away at lunchtime. Not sure what to bring for lunch for me. So far have thought packet of pork scratchings, a cucumber and some babybels. Any ideas people?

captainmummy · 24/07/2013 08:40

Eglute - it's wonderful to see people 'get it' with this WOE! After decades of low-fat low-cal crap, it's fantastic to finally eat proper food, and feel proper full-up! AND lose weight too. You are doing really well.

Have a look at the spreadsheet - at the bottom are tabs for weight-conversion, rules etc and one of them is ubercamp... it's 3 strict days, with meal plans, no dairy and takes all the guess work and planning out of your control! And it works. Tis strict though.

And your english is perfect!

Eglute · 24/07/2013 08:48

captainmummy - thanks for all kind words and explanation :) I will have a look at spreadheet. I do not find this WOE strict at all and it suits my needs perfectly. I never liked pasta or rice, not a big bread eater as well. I have always been savoury eater rather than sweets but I love mayo and cheese and everything that we are allowed to eat so I am really very happy to have found this WOE.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/07/2013 09:36

Eglute, I would never have known that English wasn't your first language! Thank you for your kind words. I started this WOE in June last year, to lose baby weight. I was bf DD2, so stuck a bit more to Briffa/Bootcamp Light, and lost nearly 2 stone by October. I spent the intervening time messing around - mainly doing low-carb during the week and binging on toast and chocolate at weekends Blush. I've finally got my act together to restart properly. Did a week or do of Bootcamp Light and didn't get anywhere, so tried Ubercamp in desperation and here I am! In my 9 months of dicking around I put 2-3 lbs back on fairly quickly, then remained at 9 stone 10 - 12 for months, and then after summer hols in Dorset put another 3 lbs on, which kick-started me to get serious.
