OK. It has come to my attention that there has been a lot of slippage going on over the last few days

Low carbing is not a very forgiving way of eating. It isn't like following a low calorie diet, where one meal or one day can compensate for another.

If you're low carbing then you have to commit to low carbing all the time.

Once you reach your target weight, then this isn't necessarily the case, but whilst you're losing weight, you really do have to keep your carbs low. If you don't, then all you're doing is constantly messing with your blood sugars.

And, if you have a massive increase in carbs, you are constantly re-filling your glycogen stores, which means your weight could go up by as much as 7lbs. And you're stopping your body shifting from carb-burning to fat-burning, because you're having to deal with all those pesky carbs.

So, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all

Let's make sure that we really commit and get shot of that weight.

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 23/05/2013 15:35

oh do we need to go there?

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 23/05/2013 15:36

ignore me, I see we are already on low carb topic. The wonders of MN Grin tech

captainmummy · 23/05/2013 15:49

Tee - that's fab! Low-carb is a good way of levelling your BG, as hopefully you will find out at your bloods. Much Much better than Shreddies any day of the week!

bulletwithbutterflywings · 23/05/2013 16:16

Anyone know what I can do with tofu? Its all I have in and I've forgotten why I bought it in the first place!

bulletwithbutterflywings · 23/05/2013 16:43

Actually... Scratch that! I remembered why I got it... ''breaded'' tofu and celeriac chips for tea tonight :) Hopefully The Boy will eat it too Hmm He like veggie chips - not sure about tofu though!

I am a bit confused and would really like some advice please. I am definitely in ketosis - used ketostix and appetite is less but ... I think I have put weight on this weekAngry
yesterday I ate :
B-Greek yog , frozen berries , few almonds
L- Celeriac soup with grated cheese
D-Salmon in lemon butter with swede and broccoli, cheese and butter
S- few tablespoons of sains lc peanut butter
almonds.

Do you think think I am eating too much dairy and peanut butter ?
thanks

WillieWaggledagger · 23/05/2013 17:15

Possibly too much dairy and nuts Colette. You say your appetite is lower but you're still having snacks - is that habit or hunger? How much water are you drinking?

You need to drink plenty of water with this WOE in order to flush out the ketones, because if your blood ketone levels are high your body will stop breaking fat down as it doesn't want to release more ketones into the bloodstream. This means that if you're not drinking enough water the ketostix might be showing high levels of ketones but actually less fat is being broken down. So the ketostix can lull you into a false sense of security. I have never bothered with them myself.

Marking my place. Daren't say anything as I have been BAD this week.
Slinks off in shame to hide in the corner......

QueenofDreams · 23/05/2013 18:24

Thanks ewan that looks LUSH. I think I'll be trying that tomorrow morning, but have it more savoury perhaps to avoid carby sweeteners.

sammisatt · 23/05/2013 18:32

I'm still here. I've been on track bar a a small handful of chocolate buttons at the weekend and cake today....but it is my fortieth birthday on Saturday so I will forgive myself and check in again on Monday for damage limitation.

BigStickBIWI · 23/05/2013 18:34

Apologies for absence - am away in Italy with DH on a long weekend. Little access to wifi. The lovely Willie will be starting next week's chat thread

thanks ww - that makes sense so am drinking more. Also rings true with ketostix showing higher level than usual ( I need to break my strange addiction to ketostix )

will try not to weigh myself for a few days. Snacks could just be a habit , especially as it is in the evening I am prone to snacking.

Need some form of alcohol tonight

Please tell me what is low carb or what I can have! I am utterly desperate. See below why.
My youngest has treated me to the following:
• toilet brush with remnants of bleach on wiped over new carpets upstairs hallway and on a pure silk roman blind. This one in the blink of an eye of taking a parcel. Both are ruined with bleach stains.
• three toilet rolls dispatched down toilet at once so had to get it unblocked by plumber.
• managed to open safe with 6 digit code (Houdini!!) and acquire my Tiffany diamond earring and Georg Jensen diamond necklace which was dispatched into another toilet. Plumber got them back unscathed. I was making the beds at the time. And he was in the wardrobe and ensuite for less than 2 minutes.

And that was just this morning. This afternoon I (and others) were subjected to:
• wrecking part of a childrens display at the Hornimann museum (pulled off a plastic snail and the electronic thing which made animal noises)
• pressed the emergence button in the lift twice in same museum.
• managed to prize open an alarmed fire door (yes museum again) and set off alarm.
• dipped hand towel in downstairs cloakroom in toilet and wiped the oak flooring with it and licked it when I told him to put it down.

And that's just a small selection of my day.

It sounds like I don't try but I spend my entire waking existence screaming "no stop don't" at him and physically pulling him away and putting him in time out and confiscating toys.

Every day is like this although less in terms of destruction if things.

So I need alcohol and please tell me there is something other than neat gin (don't like gin and have no tonic).

Meals:
B: scrambled eggs
L: bacon eggs mushroom leeks and 1 tomato
D: black farmer sausages with runner beans in butter.

ZimboMum · 23/05/2013 19:11

Evening all.

I felt I had somehow 'made it' as a low carber whilst i was preparing dinner for tonight when I caught myself wondering whether to forego the carrot in the ragu leek lasagne a la recipe thread as it might make it 'too carby' Grin In the end i stuck it in as needed to use veg up and in the grand scheme of things, life is too short not to eat a carrot if you fancy it, no?

B: left over fish pie
L: salad with ham and cheese and mayo
D will be: beef ragu leek lasagne

Water. water. water :)

couch25cakes · 23/05/2013 19:14

Today was another good day, but as its day four it should be!
B- mushroom omelette
L- ham salad and dressing
D- lamb chops and fried courgette and cabbage
S- smoked salmon and Philly

I've not been hungry really, and not had any craving for bread, chocolate etc. but I really fancied a juice or squash when I got up this morning.

ZimboMum · 23/05/2013 19:14

MrsFlorrick Wine for you, though think vodka and soda lower carb, that sounds like a horrendous day. I hope tomorrow will be better Thanks

decaffwithcream · 23/05/2013 19:20

Enjoy Italy and don't worry about us BIWI - maybe leave Willie the big stick in case anyone touches the blue squares again?

decaffwithcream · 23/05/2013 19:34

B- cream cheese pancakes - with creme fraiche/lidl yoghurt and squeeze of lemon. And one with spinach and blue cheese and sprinkle pine nuts.

L - diced celeriac with goats cheese and chilli flakes on rocket

D - Omlette with courgette, goats cheese, rocket, shallot and mayo. Side of garlic "potatoes" made with celeriac.

S - blue gorgonzola, 2 squares dark chocolate

MrsFlorrick · 23/05/2013 19:57

Zimbomum. Thanks Thanks

I don't have vodka but I do have rum. I also have diet coke. Does that work?

Doshusallie · 23/05/2013 20:06

B - bowl of ff yoghurt with rather alot of double cream
L - 2 salad pots Forman office canteen, one with chicken, one with beef, both with mayo, no idea how army the mayo was though...
Snacks - couple of handfuls of Brazil's, pkt pork scratchings, 1 teaspoon PB
Tea - no idea!!

Doshusallie · 23/05/2013 20:06
  • From an office canteen
Doshusallie · 23/05/2013 20:06
  • carby not army
ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 23/05/2013 20:11

Step away from the diet coke!!! Tis full of the crappy artificial sweeteners we are meant to avoid and will restart any sugar cravings you may have fought through already!

MrsFlorrick · 23/05/2013 20:18

Too much.

What should I mix the rum with? It's pretty much the only thing in the house. Not sure neat rum is nice.

And if you are wondering why I need a drink, please see my earlier mammoth post. Smile
