Low Carb Bootcamp challenge - lose half a stone before Christmas

BIWI · 07/11/2023 17:09

If we start next Monday, there are 6 weeks leading up to Christmas.

Hopefully that means that we can drop 7lbs in those weeks - but only if we're properly strict.

It's entirely up to you if you want to do strict Bootcamp, or Bootcamp Light across those 6 weeks, although I'd suggest that if you haven't got too much to lose, you veer towards a stricter approach.

It's also, we need to bear in mind, a more difficult time of the year to think about losing weight as there are likely to be more social occasions, so a stricter approach around all of those events is probably a good one!

Who's in?!

There's nothing to 'using' the spreadsheet @islandtiger! Just click on the link and have a good look around - look at the tabs at the bottom.

And make sure you've read all the info that I posted upthread about what we do/don't eat, as well as what the rules are.

Yes please - I would absolutely love to take part.

Carrierbagofseedsandstars · 09/11/2023 22:24

Thank you @BIWI

Baystard · 09/11/2023 22:53

I'm in - thanks for organising @BIWI

Probably won't go on the spreadsheet. I mainly just need a good thump with the stick please Grin

N2022 · 09/11/2023 22:58

Woah! I've done keto before but this is extreme! Though to be honest extreme is exactly what I need right now so I'm all in.
God help me😅🙏

Witsend101 · 09/11/2023 23:07

Can I join as well please. Haven't been on a bootcamp for a while and fell off the last one I attempted after a couple of weeks so going to persevere this time and make it through to end

dimples76 · 09/11/2023 23:38

Please can I join you.

HazelNuttyElf · 10/11/2023 04:11

I'm in please @BIWI!
I've been on multiple bootcamps, under a different username (BloomingHazel on the current one) and this morning I weighed the lowest I have been in years!
I plan on doing a hybrid, strict during the week, not as strict on the weekends. I'm close to my goal weight (about 5lbs) and it'll be nice to reach it by Christmas.

I assume you're weighing in kg, @Baystard?!

Baystard · 10/11/2023 07:52

I weigh in pounds (well stones) but converted to kg for the spreadsheet for some reason. Does it matter for the spreadsheet, can I go in pounds?

ChimneyPot · 10/11/2023 08:08

Thanks BIWI.
I’m in too.
I’d be delighted with 5lbs.

After being on plan mostly for all of the last boot camp I haven’t been great this week. I had a gastro bug of some sort so ended up eating some toast and other plain carbs and had dinner at a friends later in the week and couldn’t avoid eating some rice.

So I need to get back on track. I think I will be strict during the week and light at weekends.

BIWI · 10/11/2023 08:21

@Baystard enter whatever you prefer. The spreadsheet doesn't combine people's weights, after all. It's just a place for us all to record our (individual) progress. Personally I prefer to use pounds, as weight loss seems quicker - there being 2.2lbs in a kilo!

Sorry to hear you've been ill @ChimneyPot - I think in those circumstances you eat whatever you can stomach.

I am still with you too.
(I don't weigh often.)

Gnomegnomegnome · 10/11/2023 09:07

@ChimneyPot that’s kind of what happened to me. I got covid (with diarrhoea which was fun) and had no appetite for a while and then just ate carbs as it was the only thing that I could stomach. And then I gave up!

Letsrunabath · 10/11/2023 09:25

I’ve added my name to the spreadsheet. I’d decided I was going to start on Monday before seeing your post it will be great to have some support and be with like minded people. I want to loose 10lb in total but 7lb by Christmas will be brilliant. I’m also hoping to encourage my oh to join me as he needs to loose about 3 stone to be in a healthy weight range.

BIWI · 10/11/2023 09:31

Welcome @Letsrunabath - and hopefully also to your OH!

I am at an outer activity for 7 hours on Sunday and need to bring a packed lunch and snacks.
It will be very cold.

Does anyone have a really hearty low carb chicken soup recipe.?

Baystard · 10/11/2023 12:48

@ChimneyPot I make thai cauliflower soup from chicken stock - very hearty and filling on a cold day as it's got fat from coconut milk and spice from Thai curry paste.

ChimneyPot · 10/11/2023 13:36

Oh chilli in the soup will definitely help warm me up. I’ll try that one.

Thanks you.

agnesmartin · 10/11/2023 13:51

I made this at the weekend and it was lovely. Not sure if it meets the hearty criteria thought and obvs depends if you have a whole chicken, but am sure it would work with pieces and a stock cube. You could use bare naked noodles, or I just had some boiled buttery cabbage strips.

Morning all. I'm looking for some inspiration. I've got an online food delivery booked for tomorrow and just looking for some fresh ideas. What are some of your 'go to' bootcamp breakfasts, lunches & dinners that you have? I've just got a bit stuck with thinking/planning and need some fresh inspiration.

I enjoyed a lot of salads over the past few weeks, but getting a bit cold for that now. Last winter I had a lot of soup (but seems like it will be missing something without toast/bread!).
