Low Carb Bootcamp challenge - lose half a stone before Christmas

BIWI · 07/11/2023 17:09

If we start next Monday, there are 6 weeks leading up to Christmas.

Hopefully that means that we can drop 7lbs in those weeks - but only if we're properly strict.

It's entirely up to you if you want to do strict Bootcamp, or Bootcamp Light across those 6 weeks, although I'd suggest that if you haven't got too much to lose, you veer towards a stricter approach.

It's also, we need to bear in mind, a more difficult time of the year to think about losing weight as there are likely to be more social occasions, so a stricter approach around all of those events is probably a good one!

Who's in?!

You haven't entered a weight for this week.

Are you going to do it before next Monday? Or do you want me to take you off the spreadsheet?

TIA
Flowers

Hi @BIWI I added the app and thought I changed it yesterday is it not showing up?

Sunsnowsun · 23/11/2023 14:04

Hi BIWI, I'm on the spreadsheet. 1st couple of days going okay. Thank you for doing this as it has helped me to focus on the extra lbs that have crept on this year.

HazelNuttyElf · 23/11/2023 15:32

Thank you for the reminder @BIWI. My weight is now added.
This week has been tough to stick to the plan as we have had to eat out a lot (flooring being replaced and having to move everything out of rooms etc.). Thankfully I've been doing this long enough to know the gain is mostly water weight so should shift again, although slowly as I'm fairly close to goal weight.
Upping the water intake to try to flush it out, starting today!

BIWI · 23/11/2023 15:54

@Frumpyunicorn your starting weight is on there, from last week, but nothing for this week

Take me off sorry I'm being really crappy at keeping up with anything at the minute. I'll plug away in the back ground and pop in every now and then. Thanks xx

RooRooCooChoo · 23/11/2023 19:04

Sorry @BIWI I'm travelling again so no scales. Will update tomorrow when I'm at home.

ChimneyPot · 23/11/2023 19:24

@yesyesitsaparkingone that dip sounds delicious. Please report back.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 24/11/2023 07:01

Apologies BIWI. Just got really demoralised and fed up with it all. Could you just take me off? Many thanks, xxx

RooRooCooChoo · 24/11/2023 08:36

Sorry for the late weigh in. 1.6lbs down since the last time. This is very pleasing as, while I've been very much LC-ing, I've not been super strict. I had pizza and cake for my birthday Blush. However, if loss can occur with moderate adherence to the rules this WOE will be one for life!

OldandTired66 · 24/11/2023 12:47

Just checking in, being as strict as I can with food and water to undo last weekends damage and another weekend away coming up - though not as boozy and should have a bit more control over what goes in my mouth! Son is baking up a storm in the kitchen for a friend's party so keeping well out of the way. Delicious baking smells though 😬.

yesyesitsaparkingone · 24/11/2023 17:45

Okay the the spinach and artichoke dip was obscenely rich, very low carb and delicious! The recipe I posted is for huge portions, but if you halve it, then it fits about an average jar of artichokes, and tub of sour cream. Lidl had no cream cheese so I used mascarpone and I swapped mozzarella for cheddar as I’ve had so much mozz recently I fancied a change. I had run out of garlic and it is fine without that. A brilliant ‘treat’ side dish for a special occasion, I may make it again at Christmas.

LadyBird1973 · 24/11/2023 18:33

Hi all.
I seem to be losing and gaining the same pound continuously this week!
Been out Christmas shopping, so food has been smoked trout flakes and pork crackling from M&S. 2/3 of a bar of dark choc and dinner was boiled eggs on low carb toast. Need some veg tomorrow!
Have blown lots of money in tkmaxx, so can't afford food anyway 😁!

Roasted sprouts are a favourite easy hot lunch here. I have them in sea salt and olive oil with halloumi or sausage (which roasts on the same tray). They are perfect when the outer leaves are golden and crispy and the centres meltingly soft.

Almahart · 25/11/2023 12:12

That sounds absolutely delicious!

I have a strange thing, the scales are saying I am down 7ibs, but my clothes don't feel any looser. Obviously I'll just KOKO, but what is actually happening here? I think when I have lost a lot of water weight previously on this woe I have also seen/felt a difference.

BIWI · 25/11/2023 12:43

@LC4life
After my loss last week I've been a bit demoralised this week as overall I put on 1lbs so far this week

But hang on! You lost 11lbs last week! Focus on that rather than allowing one small pound change to demoralise you.

@Almahart I suppose it depends where you're losing weight from. Did you take your measurements at the start?

... also worth checking the batteries in your scales!

I’ve been quiet this week but still KOKO. Had a bit of an iffy couple of days, had some rice with a curry because I literally had no food in the house, and couldn’t get to the shops because I had to wait in for a plumber due to an emergency situation. And then had a funeral the next day and all there was was sandwiches, and I was starving. Did avoid the cake though! So not lost any weight this week but not gained any either which I’m ok with. Seems to be the way it goes, I had a 3lb drop last week, so I’m expecting to hover around there for a couple of weeks before losing any more.

Almahart · 25/11/2023 15:54

@BIWI good point, I think my scales are a little dodgy. They've stopped working now even without batteries so I will be flying without weighing in for a little while. Will be interesting

Almahart · 25/11/2023 16:09

Can anyone help? I saw a recipe for roasted pork belly slices with some sort of red cabbage coleslaw/salad somewhere. I now have the ingredients, but no idea where I saw it. I can make something else, but the recipe looked really good.

BIWI · 25/11/2023 17:17

I've had a Google and also done a search on here, but haven't been able to find anything @Almahart - if I come across anything I'll post it.

Almahart · 25/11/2023 17:27

Ah that's kind of you, perhaps I dreamed it! I found some other recipes on the diet doctor link you posted on the general chat thread that look great too so all good

Gnomegnomegnome · 27/11/2023 06:09

Last week was a bad week (not just eating wise but definitely haven’t stuck to plan, Dh definitely thinks that food makes everything better) I’m surprised that I haven’t put on more than I have but it’s a new week. Hopefully a nicer week! KOKO.

agnesmartin · 27/11/2023 07:17

Morning Bootcampers!

Well, I suddenly put 1.5lb on last night for no reason that I can see other than hormones and a crap night's sleep, so I am taking the weight that I weighed for each of the 3 prior mornings as my spreadsheet weight and hoping that its just a blip.

Am in the LC zone - apart from mindlessly eating the pan scrappings from a cheesy white sauce that I made for DH lasagne. Was given a homemade sticky bun yesterday and that's gone in the freezer for when I have a few days off LC over Christmas.

Had some great days where the not hungriness came in and I could see how people can fast for 24+ hours on this WOE. I had had an active day and got to 4pm and realised I hadn't eaten. But then fast forward to the last couple of days and I've been starving! Been hoping for the 3 lb weightloss that another camper mentioned after feeling hungry but that's not happened for me ... yet ;=) It'll be hormones, but my stomach had definitely woken up! Will just feed it low carb food and it'll have to be happy with that.

Hope everyone managing to navigate Christmas events and looking forward to seeing everyone's results.

KOKO

EversoDisorganised · 27/11/2023 07:33

1.8lb down this week, 3.1 altogether. I’m really quite pleased with this fairly modest loss as yesterday was a bit of a write-off and I have been out for several meals since last Monday with varying degrees of adherence to BC rules. I am only aiming for BClite rules, but always find the weekends hard with easy access to all the carby stuff in the kitchen from the rest of the family and a tendency to forget to drink water when I’m out and about (it’s easy at work). So onwards into another week. Next weekend I am going out for three meals, so I need to frontload my efforts.
