Summer '23 Boot Camp, Week 7: only 2 weeks to go

Good morning Campers! FlowersSmile

So we are on to the home straight with only two weeks to go before the end of this Bootcamp. Still time to shed a pesky pound or two, especially if you're super strict. Perhaps for these last two weeks you might consider doing full-on Bootcamp, rather than Bootcamp Light?

@FinallyHere will be along shortly to link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

We might into the final fortnight but we'll still be around afterwards for support or to continue following the Rules If you've only just started, we’re still be here to advise. Smile

It’s 6 weeks tomorrow before I’m off on holiday - so that will help focus me Wink

Still not feeling a 100% Sad so I suspect it will be day vegging in front of the TV.

So sorry to hear @prettybird's sad news.

And thank you @BIWI for stepping in again. THIS is the spirit of mumsnet, being here when needed, helping others, not the other nonsense that is going on elsewhere!

My planned lunch changed when I saw the specials on the menu, so I had chicken livers with smoked paprika and salsa verde (bloody delicious), followed by cod in watercress sauce - which was (I think) chicken stock and blended watercress and cream. I am brimming with iron, daren't walk past a magnet!

MovingRightAlong · 01/08/2023 17:59

Condolences PrettyBird I’m so sorry to see this terrible news.

yesterday & today:
B: Yoghurt, double cream & a couple of strawberries plus a coffee with cream
L: Egg mayo salad plus a coffee with cream

Last night I missed dinner - not on purpose but I was out very late and didn’t fancy anything when I got home. Tonight may be something with roast chicken.

HappiDaze · 01/08/2023 18:05

Oh @prettybird my condolences 💐

@BIWI thank you for stepping in

Goodiewhemper · 01/08/2023 18:24

Has anyone seen my Big Stick? Wink

StuntNun · 01/08/2023 19:56

BIWI · 01/08/2023 19:58

So a quick look at the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness shows some great results so far!

Brilliant progress for@Whicker, @Yappycamper @LadyBird1973 and @cardboardbox24!

LadyBird1973 · 01/08/2023 20:09

Thank you @BIWI . Having a shocking day today though. I'm restarting strict bootcamp tomorrow and throwing out all the cheese and cream for a couple of weeks to see if it helps get me over this weeks stall.

FinallyHere · 01/08/2023 22:05

So sorry to read your sad news @prettybird

Thinking of you and your family.

Many thanks to @BIWI

BIWI · 01/08/2023 22:09

I had a truly awful night's sleep last night, so I'm off to bed now. But in the morning I'll have a catch up of all the posts on this latest thread.

Night all Flowers

venusandmars · 01/08/2023 22:29

OH NO! @BIWI is going to look back see all the things that I did wrong. This is why mumsnet shoud have an edit button, specifically so I can go back through things and delete all my bootcamp misdemeanours.

Be afraid! Be very afraid!

BIWI · 01/08/2023 22:30
Grin
venusandmars · 01/08/2023 22:32

Thankful update: my misdemeanours were on the previous thread. On this one Halo

Very kind welcomes, oh wonderous @BIWI

cardboardbox24 · 01/08/2023 22:55

@BIWI thank you! It's my birthday coming up and I have two separate meals out, am going to keep a check on myself but allow myself a celebratory pudding.

bowiesmum · 01/08/2023 23:22

@prettybird I'm so sorry for your loss 💔

B- scrambled egg and bacon
L- tuna salad
D-salmon, cauliflower mash and green beans
Snack, ham and cheese

HappiDaze · 01/08/2023 23:29

I went late night supermarket shopping because they sell clothes in the larger ones and luckily they had bikini bottoms because DD realised she had none Hmm

I was able to restock on cheese and yogurt and buy some snacks for the plane. They had those chilled Starbucks coffees reduced to £1 so I've got those for the 3.30am start to grab and run. Don't want to be carrying round my usual coffee flask for no good reason.

I haven't eaten much today because I was tired and sleepy and there wasn't anything in that i fancied
I've since had some yogurt and a few grapes plus a small slice of DS pizza I ordered for him before we went shopping.

HappiDaze · 01/08/2023 23:29

The pizza was a bad move because it was pure laziness and I didn't have right food in to eat instead,

Lucienandjean · 01/08/2023 23:39

@prettybird I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. Much sympathy 💐

@BIWI welcome back quivers under the threat of The Big Stick

Today's food (I'm sticking with strict BC for now)

B: FFGY
L: cold salmon, celery with Boursin dip, cucumber and tomatoes
D: lamb and mint kebabs, sour cream, homemade coleslaw, avocado

I'm trying to get by without snacks as they are just too tempting. Lots of water today and 2 coffees (lactofree milk).

@venusandmars it's the dairy protein that can cause insulin spikes in some people, and therefore disrupt their blood glucose levels. Butter is less than 1% dairy protein (and ghee is even lower) so if you do think dairy might be an issue for you then there's no need to restrict butter intake. Even if you do find dairy stalls your weight loss you shouldn't need to cut it out completely. If you have dairy no more than once or twice a day as part of meals (i.e. not coffee with cream between meals) then it shouldn't impact your weight loss.

Thank you both. I suspect that this may be an issue for me. I will try and cut back a bit. Yesterday apart from the cheese bread and two coffees with cream I avoided dairy.
So yesterday I had:
On waking at 5 am coffee with splash of cream and another at 8am.
B - (10.30) green smoothie (avocado, spinach, cucumber, almond milk, protein powder and mint) and a piece of cheese sgg bread.
L - scrambled duck egg with peppers in oil and some left over courgette from everything before.
D - gluten free sausage sandwich with small artisan keto bread roll and truffle. Serving of green salad dressed with olive oil and salt and a portion of sauteed courgette.
I discovered a bag of mint choc herbal tea bags in the cupboard and had one of those after dinner. It really satisfied my sweet spot.
Hope everyone has a great day today.

ItsAsIfWeWereThere · 02/08/2023 06:43

Oh PrettyBird I’m so sorry. Thinking of you.

Goodiewhemper · 02/08/2023 07:03

My daughter bought me Naturya Keto Porridge. I have attached is photo of the Nutritional Values. The carbs seem high but the fat and fibre content is high also. Should I avoid or would a little in moderation (say 30gr) with unsweetened almond milk be ok? Thank you.

Summer '23 Boot Camp, Week 7: only 2 weeks to go
EvenlyDetermined · 02/08/2023 07:34

Just jumping back in, I fell off the wagon in a week of celebrations (family birthday) and nights out, bread and crisps snuck back in, those are the things I miss the most, I can live without potatoes, pasta, rice, most sweet stuff. I tire of the high fat thing at times too - I never did eat low/no fat versions of normal food but have historically limited butter etc and its hard psychologically making myself eat more. I ended up missing the entirety of last week’s thread Blush, going to skim it and catch up with this one later. Back on it now

TheOnlyMrsW · 02/08/2023 07:41

@prettybird I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, hugs to you and yours. I've lurked a lot before actually joining a BC and your love and care for your dad has always shone through Flowers.
@BIWI thank you for stepping in for us all x

Last two days just haven't felt hungry at all, we went out for lunch on Monday to extend our break (& because I couldn't be bothered to even food shop after getting back on the smalls!!!), very traditional pub food so I ordered a burger which came with bacon and cheese, plus a portion of veg instead of chips. Lots of carrots, broccoli, and peas which I left because 🤮, DH had my onion rings.

Out for lunch yesterday with Ddad which was spiced chicken salad (huge), then roast pork shoulder for tea with broccoli and cauliflower. Struggling to manage back up to peak water but back to work today and I'm always better as I just sit in front of a laptop with it next to me........... breakfast will be FFGY and herbal tea, roast veg for lunch and spag bol for tea (without the spag for me).

venusandmars · 02/08/2023 09:14

I've got a tricky day today - an event from 4pm - 8pm with free VIP hospitality tickets. Train there and back so will be out of the house between 2pm and 10pm. Of course it's the kind of thing that you can't take your own food/drink to.

I think I'm going to eat lots of breakfast and lunch and then fast till tomorrow and only have water at the event.

B - left over egg royale (poached egg on spinach and smoked salmon with hollandaise sauce), plus coffee with cream
L - avocado and salad with cheese; FFGY with a few berries

@Goodiewhemper personally I would avoid the porridge, I can see a little of the indgredients and it has at least three sweeteners (erythritol, stevia and apple powder) which does little to wean us off sweet tasting foods. If I was going to have it, it would be 30g once a week, not everyday. Nice of your dd to get it for you though Smile

Hmm. How is allowing yourself a pudding keeping a check on yourself?! Grin

However. I do get that it's a birthday. Is it a significant one?

Do you know which restaurants you're going to (assuming you're going to restaurants?). Perhaps you could post the menu and we can help you to navigate through the different choices.

Just be very careful about the pudding - do you have to have one? Do you have to have one at both meals?
