Summer '23 Boot Camp, Week 7: only 2 weeks to go

Good morning Campers! FlowersSmile

So we are on to the home straight with only two weeks to go before the end of this Bootcamp. Still time to shed a pesky pound or two, especially if you're super strict. Perhaps for these last two weeks you might consider doing full-on Bootcamp, rather than Bootcamp Light?

@FinallyHere will be along shortly to link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

We might into the final fortnight but we'll still be around afterwards for support or to continue following the Rules If you've only just started, we’re still be here to advise. Smile

It’s 6 weeks tomorrow before I’m off on holiday - so that will help focus me Wink

Still not feeling a 100% Sad so I suspect it will be day vegging in front of the TV.

Morning @prettybird, I hope you and your dad are feeling much better today. Slithered under the 90kg barrier today with a 0.8lb loss 😬. And hit the 10% overall loss since my first BC in January so very happy about that. Next number target is to get under 14 stone for the first time in probably decades. Breakfast was boiled egg, Lunch will be smoked mackerel salad, Dinner steak and roast veg as prodigal son is popping in this evening. And I'm off to see Barbie with a friend this afternoon 💅🏻

prettybird · 31/07/2023 09:54

@Coffeeandcherrypie - thank you for posting the link Flowers

I'm not sure why I've got these stomach cramps - I've not eaten anything different to anyone else (except for the penne that the others had on Saturday). We have some old Covid tests so I might do a test later (cramps are not a common symptom but can sometimes be, especially with headache and dizziness, both of which I am experiencing on and off). I'll probably have to use a lot of reagent vials as they seem to evaporate.

I've bounced around this week. A low of 166.8 but today I'm 169lb. Still down 2 from last week's gain. I'll koko for the last 2 weeks with strict bc.

LadyBird1973 · 31/07/2023 10:14

Good morning all. Just checking in. Am out for lunch with a friend today, so will try to be careful especially in light on zero loss this week.
I think going back to strict bootcamp is a good idea for tomorrow and onwards. I'm not planning to stop when this bootcamp is officially over - I still need to lose 2.5 stones really.

I did have a nice day yesterday though - I tried on some coats at the shops that I definitely don't need but will probably buy anyway and a size 16 was roomy. Not so long ago these would have been a bit hit and miss, certainly tight in places.

place marking on new thread - typing with one hand while I try to stem a nosebleed.

HappiDaze · 31/07/2023 11:29

I've just had a 3 egg omelette with sirachia sauce, cup of tea and now I'm on coffee

DD keeps eating all my FFGY and soft french cheese which buggers up my eating plans

My brain has fortunately kicked into gear for keeping away from carbs. My eyes look at carbs and my brain says No!

I'm off on holiday later this week. It's AI on a large resort. I'll be fine with food because there'll be a big selection to choose from so I can stick to this WoE. I don't drink as much as I used to. I'm planning on swimming a lot. I love swimming on holiday in a warm sea or pool with the sun blazing down. The sea in the UK is always bloody freezing and no chance of it heating up much this summer.

Oh no have you managed to stem the flow

HappiDaze · 31/07/2023 11:36

I looked in the mirror last night and my face looked noticeably slimmer. I was very excited and had to keep looking to be sure that my cheekbones were finally coming back.

Hopefully to stay because I don't want jowls (which I'm starting to get) I want to age with a sunken face instead.

I was watching the SATC spin off called And just like that and a plastic surgeon was showing Carrie how faces age differently and I thought I want the sunken face not the jowls Grin

bowiesmum · 31/07/2023 12:11

Marking my place!

Down 3lbs, first week went well!
I had two heavy nights of drinking this weekend but still managed to stay carb free food wise so delighted with that!

Lucienandjean · 31/07/2023 19:04

So last week didn't go well but this is a new week! Meal planning is done, and I'm off to the supermarket for supplies.

I'm back on strict BC at least till the weekend.

Today's food:
B: FFGY
L: Pret A Manger crayfish and avocado bowl. A macchiato coffee
D: baked salmon, salad, asparagus, avocado, mayo.

I need to up my water intake, definitely.

bowiesmum · 31/07/2023 22:22

B-sausages, bacon egg
D chicken in creamy sauce, aubergine bake and broccoli

Snack ffgy and raspberries

Goodiewhemper · 01/08/2023 06:05

I did manage to update the spreadsheet yesterday but didn't post here. I weighed in at 78.8kg which was a loss of .8lbs from the week before. At least I am moving in the right direction.
Yesterday i had:
B - green smoothie(avocado, cucumber, spinach) and a slice of bread made from cream cheese, butter and eggs (found recipe online). Coffee with cream.
L - Mozzarella salad with three cherry tomatoes, basil and olive oil. Side serving of radish and cucumber.
D - Burger with cheese and courgette sauted in olive oil and dressed with butter and grated parmesan.
Snack - strawberry fat bomb. Again recipe found online blending a cup and a half of strawberries with 250gr cream cheese ( I used mascarpone). I portioned out twelve into bun cases and froze. Each one is about the size of a Reese's cup. According to the recipe they are about 1gr net carbs each so I hope that is ok. They are yummy though and very satisfying. I resisted the temperation to eat more than one.
Have a great day everyone.

Suxeed · 01/08/2023 07:55

Stayed the same here, hey ho, better than putting on as we say, defo :).

venusandmars · 01/08/2023 09:48

@Goodiewhemper your strawberry bombs sound lovely. Just the kind of thing to keep in the freezer for an occassional treat. And I'm insipred by your green smoothie - depening on what comes in today's veg box, that sounds like it will definitely be on my menu list for this week. Glad your weight is still reducing gradually. KOKO and it does work. I notice that your food list today had quite a lot of cheese in it. Some people find that too much cheese/dairy causes a small insulin response, so if you find your weight loss stalling you might want to reduce dairy. Butter aparently doesn't have the same effect. @stuntnun is the expert on this.

B - coffee with a touch of cream (I'm going to cut this out once my current pot of cream is finished).
L - I'm out but have looked at the menu and will have thai chicken salad, then grilled mackerel fillet with roast cauliflower
D - eggs royale (poached eggs on smoked salmon with hollandaise sauce). I'll have mine on wilted spinach, dh will have muffins.

Have a good day everyone. Drink all the water.

StuntNun · 01/08/2023 12:09

@venusandmars it's the dairy protein that can cause insulin spikes in some people, and therefore disrupt their blood glucose levels. Butter is less than 1% dairy protein (and ghee is even lower) so if you do think dairy might be an issue for you then there's no need to restrict butter intake. Even if you do find dairy stalls your weight loss you shouldn't need to cut it out completely. If you have dairy no more than once or twice a day as part of meals (i.e. not coffee with cream between meals) then it shouldn't impact your weight loss.

LadyBird1973 · 01/08/2023 14:01

I don't know what's the matter with me today - I'm sooo hungry. And really tired!
Have had a few frozen raspberries with a tablespoon each of pumpkin seed/flax seed/coconut and a tablespoon of mascarpone for bf.
L - salmon pate on low carb toast.
Snack - 2 squares of dark choc and 2 coffees with a splash of cream.
Could still eat tbh. Where did this come from?

Had nap on sofa because I'm also zonked. Making myself go out this afternoon just for fresh air a bit of exercise.

BIWI · 01/08/2023 15:19

Afternoon all.

Sorry to hear you and your dad aren't too well @prettybird - hope you're both better soon.

I need help from the collective low carb minds! On Friday we have our neighbours from either side of us, coming for drinks. We get together like this every 3 or 4 months, and it's become the convention that the hosts provide some kind of food. Not a full-blown meal, but more snacky/canape-type things.

Previously these have tended to be fairly high carb - things like small puff pastries, or bruschetta. This time, though, I'd like to keep the carbs as low as possible, but I'm finding myself feeling very short of inspiration.

I thought I might make some of the muffins - I have a little mini muffin tin, so little, bite-sized ones should work. But does anyone have any other suggestions?

There will just be 6 of us.

TIA.

I've had the worst news: my dad died some time this morning. SadSadSad

@prettybird that's devastating news! I'm so sorry, especially as it seems you were so close. 💐We'll be here for you for support and will understand if you need to take a step back from leading the thread.
I don't post much, but I do lurk and follow the threads.

BIWI · 01/08/2023 15:34

Oh no! I'm so, so sorry to hear that @prettybird Sad What a shock that must be.
Much love to you Flowers

BIWI · 01/08/2023 15:56

In the light of @prettybird's bereavement, I'll be taking over Bootcamp for the remaining two weeks

Apologies if I don't have a 'feel' for what's going on/who everyone is - but I'll do my best to catch up.

LadyBird1973 · 01/08/2023 16:30

@prettybird I'm so sorry lovely x

Suxeed · 01/08/2023 17:34

So sorry @prettybird , feeling for you at this awful time.
