Morning all!

As ever, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So we only have two weeks to go before the end of this Bootcamp. Still time to shed a pesky pound or two, especially if you're super strict. Perhaps for these last two weeks you might consider doing full-on Bootcamp, rather than Bootcamp Light?

And now for a challenge. One that I know that not everyone will relish! (Looking at you @venusandmars Grin). Exercise! This is main/partly for me, as I've missed several of my PT gym sessions over the last month - a combination of him being away and me having guests and/or social events. And I've been very lax about going to the gym during the week.

So the challenge - it doesn't have to be much, if you don't do any now, and it doesn't have to be every day. But see if you can fit in at least one form of exercise this week - be that a walk or an intensive HIIT session. For me, I need to get back to my deadlifts, as I'm working to beat my PB.

Therefore I'm going to get to the gym at least once, and I'm also going to get myself out and go for a walk. I love this time of the year when things are budding and starting to flower, and I have a few podcasts to catch up on too.

Good luck!

@TangledWebOfDeception don't worry, I know what you mean, I'd be disappointed to pay Zoe to tell me that LC good, IF good, UP'F' bad Grin I also agree about paying Zoe in particular as I feel a bit uneasy about so many jigsaw pieces of my data being in one [commercial] place and the potential for them to draw conclusions about me individually rather than just about individual traits at a population level. However I'd accept that as a user of FB and Google, that might be the least of my worries!

I'm curious about gut biome tests too but it's quite expensive and I can't get my head around the fact that presumably the gut population is always changing as diet changes, so won't it be quite an arbitrary snapshot? Has anyone tested their gut biome?

Ha, @venusandmars, by November I'll be able to tuck my size 10 jeans into my baggy boots. Imagine! Very interested in your blood sugar experiments, @Baystard. I know from pre BC, mashed potato is a killer for me - going on how ravenous I am just a couple of hours after a sausage and mash dinner. Same with white rice. I think I do better with beans, pulses and nuts. Best thing about BC has been the lack of sugar rushes and crashes. Had a good bike ride this morning so think I've aced the exercise challenge this week, just have to keep it up now!

Went to Wagamamas last night (the food was terrible for the first time ever, I usually love it)……impossible to no carb. I chose a curry and left the rice. What do you recommend from the menu? I wish they’d just do stir fry without noodles.

TangledWebOfDeception · 26/02/2023 16:40

I’d probably go for a selection of starters/sides/however it works there (been quite a few years so I don’t remember). I know I used to like the squid. It was very lightly battered IIRC so wouldn’t have been all that carby. But it’s not easy there I don’t think. I’d probably happily order ramen/whatever broths or soups there are and just not eat the noodles.

Skiphopbump · 26/02/2023 17:06

@DryWhiteagainW Chicken katsu salad has 20g of carbs so I would choose that - may even be able to ask for the chicken without breadcrumbs to lower the carbs more.

As part of the Zoe trial, I used a CGM which I really loved. It mostly confirmed that low carb was working really well for me, that the reason I just wasn't very hungry after the first few days was exactly because my blood sugar was so stable. It was reassuring to try IF while checking that my blood sugars were still stable, so that I really could be burning body fat, of which I still have ample supplies.

I am so.much.more likely to stick to a way of eating when I never get hangry and ravenous. It really confirmed that bootcamp was working well for me.

I bought a few more from their site, around £50 max each but then never used any more. I'm going to try one now, one year later, to see whether as o hope the actual level has dropped.

We shall see when it's had a chance to calibrate. Wish me luck, I'm going in now.

Good luck @FinallyHere and good luck to everyone weighing in tomorrow!

Ooo @DryWhiteagainW i usually always get the Wagamama ramen but we discovered that they stopped it after Covid and have never brought it back and I’m heartbroken! It was the best thing ever - pork belly, chicken, prawns and squid too with a fried egg - never managed the noodles after all that!

TangledUpInDreams · 26/02/2023 21:20

Hey all, just me with a namechange! Need a break from the other one....

venusandmars · 26/02/2023 21:24

@FinallyHere does the CGM device sit on your skin, or does it prick into you somehow?

I've noticed eating in a very different way this week (i.e. 2 meals 11-12 hours apart) that I am not at all hungry inbetween. I might be tempted by lunch about 6 hours after breakfast, but I don't need it, don't feel hungry and I have a series of different massages booked for 4pm so I wouldn't want to be doing any of that with a full tummy. And I am only lightly (and nicely) hungry for dinner. I'm finding it very useful to be out of my normal routine. Also finding it very helpful to be warm, the cold has me reaching for food more often than I really need to.

Had a great dinner tonight. Gambas pil-pil then the salad buffet (another starter) with lots of meats, cheese, salad veg and pickles.

FinallyHere · 26/02/2023 21:31

@venusandmars

The libre CGM uses a very very fine metal probe which penetrates the skin to measures glucose levels in the interstitial fluid

https://www.freestyle.abbott/uk-en/home.html

The sensor comes with an applicator which provides a completely painless application process. First time I used one, I hesitated a good long while before being brave enough to try it. After applying, I had to check that the sensor was actually in place as I had felt nothing at all.

Sorry for absence - DB and SIL here with us this weekend, so we haven't been around much.

Morning all. I've just weighed in for the week. I've found this bootcamp a fascinating insight into how much my weight bounces around. Usually on BC I am doing it to lose weight so I am generally on a downwards trajectory with some stalls or a couple of lbs gained here and there. Being pregnant this time means that I'm logging my weight more for interest than anything else, but not doing it for weightloss makes the weekly bouncing up and down of my weight much more obvious (outside bootcamp I maybe weigh once a year 😅).

Good luck all and have a lovely week!
