prettybird · 21/11/2022 08:08

Hopefully, the one where you get beyond the Weeks 3, 4 and 5 doldrums. Grin And if you don't, then KOKO, drink all the water and maybe post what you've been eating so we can see if there is anything you can tweak. We're all here both to support and be supported.

@FinallyHere will be along shortly to post the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousnessf. It truly is fabulous to see the results coming in Smile

Christmas is in 5 weeks time - that's certainly an incentive for me to keep focussed. Xmas Grin

Welcome @GoldenFarfalle!

prettybird · 22/11/2022 19:36

In terms of my own going self-care challenges: still succeeding at getting to bed before midnight and it's getting easier Halo

Still doing a bit of prep every day for Christmas: have bought a few Christmas presents and have ideas for others (not for everyone yet though Xmas Hmm). Might even start wrapping what has arrived all ready Xmas Shockthat really would be unheard of for me

Have bought a couple of things on my food shopping list (non-perishable) and will make a big batch of "killer almonds" tomorrow as they store well.

On my anti-procrastination efforts, yesterday (and a final few today) I delivered the SNP leaflets I'd not got round to doing (November 21 & 22 counts as "by middle of November" , doesn't it Wink) and today dh and I booked our Covid and flu jags for Monday.

Managed to have four social events (lunch, dinner, lunch, dinner) in 48 hours. Most of me is delighted to see people but the introvert part of me just wants to crawl back into lockdown! There were Many Potatoes involved, most of which I could avoid, but I didn’t manage with the couscous at one lunch or with the desserts. And deliberately had to not be good about water as I knew there’d be long stretches where I wasn’t reliably near a loo. Well, this pace of socializing will not continue, so back into the KOKO saddle with me (and back to the water)!

BIWI · 23/11/2022 09:44

@humancalculator it's tough, but all part of making this WOE a WOE that fits in with life.

There will always be times/occasions when you have no alternative but to eat the carbs - or, being honest, when you want to!

As long as you do it mindfully, and then get back on the wagon as soon as you can afterwards, it will be fine. Don't beat yourself up about it.

prettybird · 23/11/2022 11:34

Woke up this morning with a horrible sore throat (actually went to bed with symptoms starting) and horrible catarrh at the back of my throat. Slept really badly as I kept up waking up with what felt like lots of liquid at the back of my throat Sad

Sorry to read that @prettybird

Hope you find some things to help you feel a bit better and feel properly better soon.

venusandmars · 23/11/2022 14:41

@humancalculator my downfall on those occasions is having potatoes (or some other starchy carb) and then STILL opting for the pudding that is just cream and butter, or the cheese plate. The combination of fat and carbs... Blush

@prettybird I tried to get ahead one year by wrapping things as I bought them. But once wrapped I seemed to have a mental block and start buying other additional presents. Plus a couple of the presents got wrapped but not labled... the Christmas equivalent of popping something in the freezer certain that you will remember what it was!!Hope you feel better soon.

prettybird · 23/11/2022 14:56

I use The Christmas List app https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/the-christmas-list/id340779800 to keep track. It was recommended in Good Housekeeping (I think) years ago. It cost something like £2.99 but it's been worth it. Xmas Smile

I also use it to jot down ideas when I get them over the year (also works for birthdays) Xmas Wink if only to stop duplicate or lost presents Xmas Grin

I did once wrap in advance and put post-its onto the presents so that I could do the labels the night before (as we usually write clues on the tags) ..... but most of the post-its fell off Xmas Shock

Fortunately, with exception of Christmas, I'm happy to forego the potatoes (and I often don't finish the single roast potato I serve myself at Christmas Xmas Confused)

Throat is still sore and I'm sneezing a bit - but at least the catarrh/phlegm is not irritating me at the moment, maybe because I'm standing up and gravity is doing its work.

@prettybird sorry your not well. Huge sympathies.
I wrapped dhs birthday presents and the one Christmas present I got him so far today. I am labelling as I go and I have a list on my phone of who has what.
Welcome @GoldenFarfalle how's today been.
Just had pt session, I only have one left. May have to treat myself to more in January as I love them.
Getting a new tattoo tomorrow, very nervous. Also worried about how long it will be till I can go to the gym.

Skiphopbump · 23/11/2022 16:36

Hope you fell better soon @prettybird

Backstreets · 23/11/2022 18:07

Feel better soon @prettybird ! Shit time for it, we have so many off sick right now :(

have to report a victory today! Felt cross about how baggy my previously smart trousers look and went through my “too small” box - can’t fit into ALL of them but found a couple that now fit like a glove!

maybe I do have to come back to the next boot camp, see if those elusive green check ones will ever feel comfortable…

BIWI · 23/11/2022 18:52

Sorry to hear you're not feeling great, @prettybird - hope you recover swiftly.

Re wrapping/labelling, I've created templates for labels. I have a sheet saved for each member of the family (each with a cute, Christmassy picture and a different font!) and I print a sheet off each time I need one (21 labels on each sheet). So as soon as I've wrapped a parcel I have a sticky label to hand. It makes life so much easier.

I also create a spreadsheet each year of what I've bought for whom - I can then keep track, as well as compare with earlier years, so I don't duplicate/know when I can duplicate (socks, pants, etc!)

prettybird · 23/11/2022 19:36

Feeling a bit better now but decided not to go to rugby training (it would've been cold and muddy Wink)

Don't think I'd be that organised for labels @BIWI - and I'm also weird in that I like everything handwritten. Even my Christmas card list is still handwritten and I insist on writing the addresses by hand (although I'm now economical with how many cards I post Xmas Hmm )

@Backstreets - great news on your trousers. And remember, we're still around between Boot Camps (and future Boot Camps) for support, whether that be to lose more or simply to maintain. Those green check trousers will be comfortable one day.

My Christmas List app is good at keeping tabs on what I've got people (and how much I've spent Xmas Shock ) as you can archive previous years/gifts and see what you've got them over the years.

My dad cocked up lunch arrangements/picking up my brother so we ended up not having lunch at his place. So I decided that I may as well do a 36 hour fast. Dh and I are off into town tomorrow to do a bit of a recce for presents and we'll have breakfast at Sarti's (Glaswegians will know where I mean Wink). He'll have Italian bread toast and I'll have scrambled eggs (and he'll get the extra toast for himself).

I've been having lots of herb teas today to try to lubricate my throat Grin

In good news, I've finally had a whoosh and have dropped 2.5lb since Monday to 12st 4.5lb Smile

I might should manage to break into the 11st bracket by Christmas Xmas Grin - and possibly even into the three digit territory Xmas Shock (ie 11st 9lb or under Xmas Wink), but I'm not going to beat myself up if I don't.

Good news @prettybird !!!

Just had a lovely soup for lunch- leeks stewed in butter then zizzed up with chicken and stock and cream.

Can anyone give me some ideas for breakfast? I've been eating scrambled eggs every day for 5 weeks and I cannot state strongly enough how sick I am of them. I sometimes have yogurt with blueberries and walnuts, but that's often my lunch, so prefer something different.

Any ideas!?

prettybird · 24/11/2022 14:20

Is it eggs in general or just scrambled eggs?

If you're still ok with eggs, how about boiled eggs or an omelette (maybe with some Boursin).

If you're fed up with eggs, why not make some low carb granola (there's a recipe in the veggie thread) or make some low carb muffins - cheese or vanilla (recipe also in the veggie recipe thread). You can make a batch and then you've got a few breakfasts ready. I like the cheese version either hot (I have a 6 hole silicone mould so I can get them out easily while they're still hot) or you can half and toast them and then slather them with butter Grin

Or have a continental style breakfast of ham and cheese. Or simply left over food (especially veg Wink) from the night before. I often cook extra veg especially for this purpose Grin

Can anyone give me some ideas for breakfast?

Alternatively, a couple of rashers of back bacon, in a buttered SLC roll

If I regularly am eating breakfast, we tend to cook an additional portion the night before, to leave in the fridge for the morning, so anything really

ditavonteesed · 24/11/2022 16:46

Yay for the whoosh @prettybird
5 and a half hours getting tattooed, I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself now.
