Morning all!

I see from the last thread that there have been some great losses, despite the doldrums that we generally experience in weeks 3 and 4.

For those who haven't seen the scales move (or for whom the scales have moved in the wrong direction), don't panic - KOKO. Make sure you're following the rules, and all will be well. Remember that this is a marathon not a sprint, and try not to get too fixated on the short term.

Here's the spreadsheet, as usual . Casting my eye down the list there are some really great results, with at least four Bootcampers already more than 10lbs down, which is fantastic.

Here's to another good week

Not my best food day - an ok breakfast, good lunch. Then a fridge detritus dinner. Empty fridge now so I'll do a shop in the morning.
Loads of exercise today - not the goal of BC but my energy was good. 50K cycle, pilates class, then walked the dog. Off to bed now.

Newlease · 28/05/2022 07:45

@Lougle Yeap, I would love that!
I am not weighing every day, as I know it would put me into -“whatever” mode. So sticking to Monday mornings! I have been good all week with lots of water- to my normal standards, so hoping atleast some movements on scale. Have guests, for the first time since house move, cooked lots for them, but I am sticking to meat and veg only.
Next week though, it would be different. Staying at my sisters for three days, I will try as much as possible to stick to this, and trying to avoid anymore guests/ meeting friends for another 3-4 weeks.
I am finding it easier this time than Jan BC, to eat salads and water goes down well too..
L: pork curry made for guests, with lots of fat in. And cabbage cooked in pork fat.
dinner: Marinated chicken roasted in ghee 😃 very yummy!!
2 coffee plus 2.125L of water!

Morning all. Everyone seems to be in the swing now. Glad you enjoyed Chelsea @mimosa1 . We spotted DH in the background behind Carol Cline on the telly last night.

Good day yesterday but did not have enough to eat at lunch time which was late and grabbed on the move . Was starving when I got home and had a bit of a eat everything in sight ‘snack’ all BC an avocado, chunk of cheese and Greek yoghurt. Then aubergine parmigiana with shougled asparagus, Swiss chard and garlic.

Going up North for good friend 60th birthday party today. Looking forward to seeing old friends. Not sure what food will be on offer. Hoping that I can stay on BC. Wondering if I should take my own packed party food box. Seems rude though. Knowing this friend I think it will be salads and bits that will be ok. Weather could be warmer.

have a good day everyone and water, water, water.

Frenchpoodle · 28/05/2022 08:25

Hope everyone who went to the Chelsea Flower Show had a good time, always looks amazing. I am very lately into gardening (having always previously lived in flats) - so love getting inspiration from other gardens.

@venusandmars Im definitely going to try that chocolate mousse recipe

Food yesterday-
I was holed up in a hotel room working for a full 12 hours, so strange snack food during the day. Had pot of egg Mayo and rollitos.

D - Pub beer garden (sadly a bit chilly) prawn and chorizo salad then chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella served with veg and salad. Had some wine

glamourousindierockandroll · 28/05/2022 08:59

Crap day yesterday food wise. Still on plan but due to the afternoon tea provided at work, I felt self consciously churlish making my usual scrambled eggs so I hovered, drank tea and just didn't eat anything at all. In the end it ended up being an in advertent fast day.

Could not be arsed at all making tea when i got home, as the kids had already been fed by my MIL, and was about to just have a random few bits of cheese and pork scratchings, but forced myself to make a halloumi and bacon salad.

The reward for my forbearance? A pound on from yesterday. I once again stuck my middle fingers up at the scales.

At least because i weigh daily I know it's a fluctuation but i have been STS all week, one pound above my best reading so was hoping it might tick down again today.

comfortablyfrumpy · 28/05/2022 09:19

In case this helps anyone ..

If I get remotely sidetracked yearning crisps and a glass of wine I find it helpful to imagine the weight I have lost so far in terms of packets of butter. And imagine lugging them round all day in a carrier bag.

I started LCing at Easter and sneaky pre-Monday weigh in tells me I have lost a stone so I am now imagining 28 packets of butter sitting in front of me.

I can then imagine another 28 packets as that's my next target. How awkward to be lugging that big bag of butter up the stairs etc. It really helps keep the motivation!

Mercedesbenz2022 · 28/05/2022 09:20

Slid down another 1/2 lb. !
i have stayed the same for ages or bounced up and down a lb or two, so pleased with that teeny movement downwards

for all of you that are similar , hang in there , I’ve had plenty of moments when I’ve wanted ti give it up , but I try to focus on nsv and koko

Jollyholibobs · 28/05/2022 09:45

@comfortablyfrumpy love the big bag of butter analogy. I also thought imagine you had to carry those packs of butter by squeezing them into you waist band, pockets, bra etc how uncomfortable would that be! Great image to hold on to.

@glamourousindierockandroll and others who are impatient to see faster loss remember it’s week 4 and week 3/4 are well documented for a stall, remember it’s not linear and there will be daily ups and downs, take measurements you may be losing inches/cm, celebrate all the NSVs, enjoy your food keep the faith it does work and KOKO. Also wonder if you kept your water up at your tea party.

Your post did make me think how often in work environments people want to frame a celebration/ social/ team building etc around unhealthy activity- cakes or alcohol. It’s become a cultural thing I think. I have started a regular work team social which is meet in person (we are mostly still wfh) and going a walk. Everyone joins in and those with kids often bring them too. Turns out people don’t need to be bribed with cakes or alcohol to get them to turn up. Maybe my lot aren’t representative but I doubt it.

Jollyholibobs · 28/05/2022 09:46

@Mercedesbenz2022 exactly.

stayathomegardener · 28/05/2022 10:09

Butter analogy very memorable @comfortablyfrumpy

FinallyHere · 28/05/2022 16:29

Loving the butter visualisation, thank you @comfortablyfrumpy 😀

comfortablyfrumpy · 28/05/2022 16:45

Glad the butter is useful!

I find it good because even if you "only" lose 1lb in a week, that is 2 packs of butter. It looks a lot! Try carrying those 2 packs around all day :)

ditavonteesed · 28/05/2022 17:10

Love the butter analogy. That helps a lot today as feeling a bit deflated, weight going up/staying same constantly since starting gym and personal trainer.
I've lost 40lb ish in total, that's a lot of butter.

I love it! Quite impressive when visualised like that. I have seen a new low on the scales this morning, putting me at total loss of nearly a stone and half since the beginning of the year (hard to be exact as I started off weighing at work) which would be nearly 40 packets of butter!

Making some kind of pulled pork thing for dinner (instant pot, from frozen, I'm skeptical!) with coleslaw and salad for me and rolls or rice for everyone else. DH came back from an event with a raspberry cream sponge, but I just ate a few of the raspberries with cream. I had creamy coffee for breakfast and SLC toast with cheese for lunch.
Low on veg and water so far today, but I have had a very long week (worked 6 days) and am shattered. Will do better tomorrow.

RagzRebooted · 28/05/2022 18:48

No jubilee do for me, but we are camping at a show over the Bank Holiday weekend and I am trying to plan ahead. I have the week off work, so I should be able to prep stuff and we won't be using burger vans for financial reasons. I will probably make a chili or bolognese to freeze and take, one night will be BBQ (can do extra meat for leftovers next day) and maybe a frittata or mini crust-less quiches. We don't have much fridge capacity in the little gas fridge.

Any suggestions for low carb camping food would be welcome.

BIWI · 28/05/2022 19:01

What do you have to cook on @RagzRebooted? If you have a camping gaz stove, surely you could do a fry up? Lots of sausages and bacon - beans for everyone else for the full camp fire experience?!

Will you have a cooler of any kind with you?

Upontherooftops · 28/05/2022 19:17

Mattesson smoked sausage is useful for low carb camping. Doesn't need to be refrigerated and can be eaten cold or heated up. 1.5g carb per 100g. Not fancy and obviously processed but ideal for the circumstances as it can be a meal base or a snack. We use it for DS camping and Duke of Ed as it's also milk free and he's milk allergic.

glamourousindierockandroll · 28/05/2022 20:12

NSV here. My sister, whom I've not seen for over a month visited today. She immediately told me that i looked as though I had lost weight. I had not told her anything about making an effort to do so, so I know she wasn't saying it to be nice either.

Lougle · 28/05/2022 20:56

I'm so tired today.

B - avocado
L - salad: samphire leaf salad leaves, baby plum tomatoes, cucumber, 2 boiled eggs, mayonnaise.
D - ½ ribeye steak; courgetti and leek fried in coconut oil.

Fluid: 3x 750ml electrolyte water, 400ml water, 6 cups of tea.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 28/05/2022 21:18

Hello all, hope everyone had a good Saturday.

Had a mad busy day with the kids, I am behind with my water, only 2.5L down but going to have more now (instead of wine🤣)
Was full this morning so didn't have breakfast
Had tuna mayo, lettuce, tomato, spring onion, peppers and goats cheese for lunch
Just sitting down for dinner now - steak with lots of garlic butter, roast med veg with grilled mozzarella
I weighed myself this morning and was 3lbs heavier than Weds. Am hoping it is mainly due to late dinner last night and TOTM.

averywittyusername · 29/05/2022 08:16

I'm just sneaking on here to pat myself on the back.. 12st for me today which is weirdly a 2lb loss overnight and putting me at my lowest weight in 10 years+.. ! My weight loss has been verrrry slow, I blame thyroid issues (it's also too-much-food related 😂) but yesterday I was so busy I "forgot" to eat, due to low carbing I just wasn't hungry, and I did have baked fish with salad for dinner.

I must not get complacent now, my goal is to get just under 12st but I'll definitely be seeing this bootcamp through. Thanks BIWI & all for the support!

Mercedesbenz2022 · 29/05/2022 08:44

@averywittyusername
well done ! A 10year low !
👏

FinallyHere · 29/05/2022 09:09

@averywittyusername

due to low carbing I just wasn't hungry

This has been my experience with bootcamp, that I really don't feel hungry at all. I am not sorry to be rid of that hangry 'got to eat now ' feeling. I would be interested to know how others experience the genuine feeling of hunger.

Is it possible that with someone much fat still on my body available to burn that my body doesn't see any danger of starvation so doesn't ever signal hunger? Should I just stop eating til I really do feel hungry?

I've tried that and went though over 24 admittedly very busy at work then sleeping hours. When I woke up again, I was entirely comfortable waiting til lunch time before eating.

In fact, at the moment my purpose when I do eat appears to be the provision of roughage plus fat to make it palatable

Sorry, a quick question turned into a lot of paragraphs. Anyone else wondering this?

I do know it's all going the right direction because my dress up for dinner going out out trousers only need a twitch of my hips to easily slide now, hurrah. Might take them in a tad today

FinallyHere · 29/05/2022 09:10

Sorry again @averywittyusername

That was supposed to be gratters in the ten year low.

glamourousindierockandroll · 29/05/2022 09:16

@FinallyHere I'm not knowledgeable enough to answer your question but I can say that I have noticed the same. I find that i'm eating because it's time to eat, and less because all I can think about is food, which is how my brain would usually work.
