Morning all!

I see from the last thread that there have been some great losses, despite the doldrums that we generally experience in weeks 3 and 4.

For those who haven't seen the scales move (or for whom the scales have moved in the wrong direction), don't panic - KOKO. Make sure you're following the rules, and all will be well. Remember that this is a marathon not a sprint, and try not to get too fixated on the short term.

Here's the spreadsheet, as usual . Casting my eye down the list there are some really great results, with at least four Bootcampers already more than 10lbs down, which is fantastic.

Here's to another good week

@IveNeverTriedThisBefore MCT oil is usually refined coconut oil although it can also come from palm oil. It's often used in keto diets because they restrict protein intake as well as carbs. It's also a key component of Dave Asprey's Bulletproof Diet along with special coffee and butter. We tend to discourage bulletproof / butter coffee on Bootcamp because it's very nutrient poor, there will be a little vitamin A from the butter but not much else. It's not surprising that the Bulletproof Diet also recommend a whole load of vitamin supplements.

Ooh frozen leeks! Great idea.

Another 0.5kg off for me today so a new low of 65kg now.

My day yesterday:
B - two egg omelette with cheddar cheese.
L - salad: Iceberg lettuce, baby plum tomatoes, cucumber, fried halloumi, olive oil vinaigrette.
D - traybake: chicken thighs, spinach, cauliflower, baby plum tomatoes, green beans, chicken stock & double cream.

Fluids - 3 x 750 ml electrolyte water, 2 X 600ml plain water, 6 cups of tea.

ditavonteesed · 25/05/2022 06:55

I didn't really think of that with the bucket proof coffee, I tend to have it before a long shifts as eating times are so restrictive that I don't want to be hungry, there is a constant biscuit and choc supply in the office.
Very happy to report that I had a whoosh, 3 lb overnight hope it's sticky.
Glad for the better day @mimosa1 hope your dads feeling more energetic soon.
Pt session this morning, I'm really excited. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it. I'm on a training course this week so sat at a desk all day so having to put effort into getting my steps in so having a lovely walk in the evening.
Got lamb for my dinner tonight. Looking forward to it.

Jollyholibobs · 25/05/2022 08:00

I’m off to the Chelsea flower show today. We always buy a ‘picnic’ from M&S. Should be straight forward to stay low carb.

Glad you’ve had a better day @mimosa1 . Great trouser progress @ditavonteesed.

Definitely going to look for frozen leeks.

BIWI · 25/05/2022 08:26

Lougle · 24/05/2022 19:05

I'm so happy, thank you!

While I was thinking, I had googled and come across this on a .gov.uk site:

assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/971018/McCance_Widdowsons_Composition_of_Foods_Integrated_Dataset_2021..xlsx

A complete database with official nutrient values. It gives leeks as 4.1g/100g, so just fine ☺️

Yes I have that dataset too. I keep meaning to revise the carb counter on the spreadsheet to reflect it

Trousers looking great @ditavonteesed

So jealous you’re going to Chelsea @Jollyholibobs , have a wonderful time 🌸

prettybird · 25/05/2022 09:30

Still hanging on in there: a bit of a sore stomach last night and still this morning. I'm struggling to drink my water allocation - need to work harder at that.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 25/05/2022 10:39

@StuntNun thanks for getting back to me

mimosa1 · 25/05/2022 11:13

@Lougle that traybake sounds delicious - will you share the recipe?

@Jollyholibobs enjoy the CFS. I've never been but DH gets a ticket through work and I've requested a houseplant as a consolation present!

Lougle · 25/05/2022 11:36

@mimosa1 oil in the bottom of a tray. Chicken thighs, spinach, green beans (halved), cauliflower (small florets) shoved on top. Salt, pepper. Chicken stock and a glug of double cream.

All in the oven for 30 minutes. I think I got the balance wrong slightly and there wasn't enough cream thicken the sauce.

venusandmars · 25/05/2022 11:39

@RagzRebooted I have sachets of mayonnaise. We have them for the campervan, but I also tend to have a couple in my handbag in case I'm eating out and get a woefully underdressed salad.

@Lougle I wonder whether the high value of carbs in leeks came from an American site? They have a complicated system of total carbs and net carbs which is not the same as UK.

@IveNeverTriedThisBefore in general bullet-proof coffee (coffee with oil/butter) is discouraged on this way of eating. It does fill you up but has a lot of fat and calories and not so much nutrition. I know we don't count calories on here, but my breakfast today of cheese, mushroom and spinach omelette has more nutritional variety and fibre than coffee with butter and cream (similar calories). I think @StuntNun has a saying "don't drink your calories" which would apply equally to us on bootcamp and to others drinking a fruit smoothie or a Starbucks choca-mocha frappuccino. I do have BPC occasionally, but usually reserve them for times when there is no low-carb alternative (e.g. when the only option is a sandwich lunch). I'd not have it as a regular feature, particularly if I'm also doing intermittent fasting, because that would only be one 'proper food' meal a day. There are a lot of strict keto diets where the aim is to have really, really low carbs - those diets rely on BPC, eggs, processed meats (bacon, sausage etc) and often highly processed keto foods which have lots of additives, sweetener etc (sometimes known as 'dirty' keto). I like boot camp because @BIWI promotes REAL unprocessed foods.

B - cheese, mushroom, spinach omelette
L - avocado salad
D - salmon, roast baby turnips, broccoli, green beans

venusandmars · 25/05/2022 11:50

@Jollyholibobs very envious of your day at the garden show. I went a few years ago and have very happy memories...

@ditavonteesed great trouser progress. I've got a pair of trousers that won't do up currently. I'm aiming to change that.

ditavonteesed · 25/05/2022 12:14

Omg personal trainer is a sadist.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 25/05/2022 13:16

Thanks @venusandmars for getting back to me

Today is:
B: Greek yoghurt & cinnamon, creamy coffee
L: Asparagus and salmon in coconut oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, lime zest and juice, ginger & chilli flakes. Was yum
D: is going to be the Med Chicken and cauliflower from the chicken recipes thread
Have 2 L of water drank already, 2 to go

Newlease · 25/05/2022 14:20

@ditavonteesed trouser update is amazing! I wish I had a pic from week 1, will definitely do one today to keep checking!
@BIWI Enjoy your days away!
@Lougle I am closely following you,( not stalking I promise ), from the day I read your post about 400gm weight gain. Mine goes up and down like that and guess what? I am right now on 65.6kg! So seeing you have gone down to 65 is real motivation and I am one week behind you guys!
whoever is adding 4L of water or similar, thanks for that, I finally managed to get my drinking up a bit so now, 2-3 litres plus 2 big mug of coffee.. ( and constantly running to loo) waterlogged app helped too.
Egg wrap looks lovely, I usually do something similar, today I had a pepper with eggs and spinach for Lunch.
D : would be same as yesterday, beef mince cooked with taco seasoning and added cheese. I don’t have name for anything I cook 😊( so never update here)
KOKO everyone!

Was curious about the leeks.
Checked polish sources and I m confused
in 1 source it's says 14.8g of carbs per 100g (net 12,5g)
and in another source was only 3g of carbs per 100g.

So its very confusing and what is right.

Lougle · 25/05/2022 15:48

@Newlease we can be buddies ☺️ I'm finding the weight dropping off a bit now I've upped my water intake even more.

@teraculum29 it's crazy, isn't it. I'm going to comfort myself that the dataset on the gov.uk site says 4.1.

Baystard · 25/05/2022 20:05

Office day today followed by some shopping on the way home. Didn't get time for lunch so decided to run with it. Somewhat eclectic meal tonight when i got home ...

B- black coffee
L- fasting
D- Serrano and manchego rolitos, stewed rhubarb and 2 huge spoonfuls of clotted cream, one thin slice of LC bread slathered in butter.

Didn't drink enough today so catching up now with 1/2 litre fizzy water.

Started re-reading Clever Guts book by Michael Mosley last night. Wish I'd done it sooner, I'd forgotten how good it is. If anyone wanted something interesting to read that fits well with the nourishing real food WOE of bootcamp I'd highly recommend it. Explains the importance of gut bugs/biome in making hormones how our bugs can make us fat, how to encourage the right populations of bugs. Also just really good info on our digestive system.

Jollyholibobs · 25/05/2022 20:07

@ditavonteesed PTs have to push you out of your comfort zone. Some manage to do it without appearing to enjoy your discomfort. It’s a great feeling when you do something you didn’t think you could though.

Flower show was great and caught up with my mum and my sister at lunch time. Food all BC friendly too and I’ve had no dinner yet and not a bit hungry. Love this WOE.

ZiggZagg · 25/05/2022 20:50

How did 2 days pass without me checking the thread?!?!

Good few days anyway, right back into it, water getting near perfect!

I've bought a cheap smartwatch off Amazon which prompts me to drink water (like my very own @ShagMeRiggins on my wrist Wink) and get up and move! Best purchase in a while!

Not so much veg today but working on it!

Hope everyone is doing well Smile

Lougle · 25/05/2022 21:12

Today's food:
B - two egg omelette with double cream and cheese.
L - salad: baby leaf lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, smoked mackerel, olive oil dressing.
D - Beef stroganoff with left over traybake veg (cauliflower, green beans).

Fluid: 3 x 750ml electrolyte water, 2 x 600ml plain water, 7 cups of tea with almond milk.

FinallyHere · 25/05/2022 21:23

@Jollyholibobs

Glad your visit to the CFS went well. We drove through Chelsea today, took a while to work out why so many businesses were decorated with flowers. Duh

@Lougle

I checked the range of sizes in R&P personally today. They are confident they cover all sizes. It's only fair to point out that the prettiest, wisp of lace ones with lovely thin straps are only available in the smaller sizes.

In unrelated news, todays NSV is I'm down a band size since I started bootcamping this January. Still some way to go but all trending in the right direction. Hurrah.

Weighing myself has been known to knock me off course, if I loose I'm tempted to cheat and if I've gained yo eat because I'm despondent. Using clothes to track works well for me.

SummerSazz · 25/05/2022 22:56

Quick pop in as life crazy busy with my house refurb (hence no recipes as I'm microwave eating and there isn't a great range!) although I don't mind this

SV as I have finally moved off my 10.13 - 11.1 range where I've been fluctuating the last 4 weeks due to work events. Saw 10.12 on the scales this morning which was fab Smile. It is the lowest I've been since 2014 so that's an extra win too.

24lbs off since Jan bootcamp - have been BC light all the way since then. 2lbs to go to normal BMI and 4 for the 2 stone. Lots to aim for!

Lougle · 26/05/2022 06:33

Thanks for the recon @FinallyHere!

@SummerSazz that's amazing!! Well done. An 8 year low is not a SV. It's a MV!

I'm 0.2kg up today but let's face it, that's just a poo in the making 🤣

Mercedesbenz2022 · 26/05/2022 06:53

@SummerSazz
well done ! Nearly 2 stone off , that’s great

after reading all the comments on the gut book I bought it last night , very interesting what I’ve read so far
