Morning all!

I see from the last thread that there have been some great losses, despite the doldrums that we generally experience in weeks 3 and 4.

For those who haven't seen the scales move (or for whom the scales have moved in the wrong direction), don't panic - KOKO. Make sure you're following the rules, and all will be well. Remember that this is a marathon not a sprint, and try not to get too fixated on the short term.

Here's the spreadsheet, as usual . Casting my eye down the list there are some really great results, with at least four Bootcampers already more than 10lbs down, which is fantastic.

Here's to another good week

@UnOeufIsEnough I haven't tried these recipes but they were in the book I was reading last night and they look reasonably good for LC:

Chia pots (a creamy puddingy thing): mix well 2tbsp chia seeds, 125ml milk, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and a few berries in an airtight jar, leave overnight, top with fruit, toasted nuts etc.

Chia Raspberry Jam: heat 125g finely chopped or blitzed raspberries and 2-3 tbsp chia seeds (depending on whether you want jam or more of a coulis),simmer 2-3 mins.

I'm going to try chia pot today with 50/50 milk and dbl cream and report back!

I've also made good raspberry trifle before using a LC mug cake (almonds, coconut flour, egg, baking powder mixed up and microwaved in a mug) as a base and then just using a tiny amount of natvia to sweeten the normal custard and/or raspberries if essential. It looked great, and it was tasty and with the custard and whipped double cream it was filling too!

Morning all. Up again this morning but not stressing about it. I'm getting used to see waves in my pattern!

Jollyholibobs · 27/05/2022 07:36

Morning all.

hope the bad breath sorts out. Awkward for you @Ollieharriet . It’s a thing and should go away over time but more water and more fat may help in the meantime. Maybe lots of us have it just nobody told us! I don’t care as I feel good on the WOE.

Navigated a meal out last night. Had sole meunière without the potatoes and extra veg. Cheeese to follow when others were on puddings. I remembered some good advice on here not to think I would just leave the potatoes. It’s difficult when they are on your plate so I asked for them to be substituted out. Easy Peasy. My friend who had the same thing with the potatoes commented it looked like I had more than her. I had so much veg.

Have a site visit today at 1.00 so will delay lunch until I am coming back . It’s M&S at Euston to eat on the train.

Worth thinking ahead and planning for the jubilee weekend which has a certain propensity to derail me if I don’t plan ahead. Also away staying with friends this weekend but feeling capable of navigating the temptations.

🎉 6oz to go and I've hit the 1 stone loss! I'm a week ahead of everyone else on this bootcamp. I've been using an app to track my progress and have little mini goals to aim for. Will set it for another 7lbs which will take me to 10 stone. I've had days where my weight's fluctuated or stayed the same, but ignored the "fuck it" feelings and stuck with it. I'd put off restarting this WOE again, but I know it works for me, so I'm glad I started, persevered and will KOKO.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 27/05/2022 08:52

@Justmuddlingalong
thats great news !
I came in to report a 1 lb loss after sts or bouncing up and down by a l lb or so , it is very tempting to think it isn’t working , but I’m sleeping better, got into jeans I haven’t worn and just generally feel better so I ignore the sts and koko ,

pinknsparkly · 26/05/2022 23:56

But I'd also be interested in any genuinely sugar and sweetener free suggestions other posters have. Long term I will definitely need more dessert options than just a few strawberries with cream if I'm to stick to this WOE!

Have you checked out the desserts recipe thread? Lots of lovely things to choose from there!

Brilliant Flowers

I think having little mini goals is a great way to approach weight loss, otherwise it can seem all too overwhelming - and then it's easy to catch a case of the fuckits!

@Mercedesbenz2022 sounds like it's definitely working for you Smile

Hi everyone,

I will be checking out the desert recipe thread (I love to have people over especially on boot camp when I can control the food, so will be good to have a few more options up my sleeve) and chia seeds. I don't think I've ever had them before.

I managed to get a last minute ticket to the Chelsea flower show. It was BRILLIANT. I've ordered some bulbs from October and I'm ridiculously excited. The biggest tulips I've ever seen Smile .A couple of glasses of champagne and it was glorious.

I've got a tricky weekend food wise coming up with with my elderly aunt and uncle. They are not used to children and I'm bringing the DC. I hate putting them out further so I've packed a load of frozen LC bread and brining a cheeseboard and shall do my best.

The scales are moving sloooowly down.
Im 7kg away from being at the very top end of a normal BMI so it feels like a long way to go. I like the idea of mini goals. My next one is 78 kg, incidentally the weight I was the day after giving birth to DC1...

venusandmars · 27/05/2022 12:17

@pinknsparkly I make lemon posset with erythritol. Although every time I make it I put in less sweetner as my tastes have changed. Last time I saw my dh wince at the sourness! But it's easy, and other can have it with sweet biscuits or a sugar topping like a creme brullee. Sometimes I make it like individual cheese cakes, with biscuit base for the others. The diet doctor chocolate mousse works well too, and as above I sometimes service on a biscuit base for those with a liking for sugar. I just have extra cream on mine Grin

Going to a dinner party tonight. We're have asparugus wrapped in ham, some kind of slow cooked beef (no doubt with veg and potatoes - though only veg for me). Someone is gluten free and making gluten free brownies, and I've said I'll bring cheese. I've also got to drive, which is a good plan and the wine will be flowing far too freely.

I have a variety of 'measures' to keep my motivated. I switch from wighing in lbs to kgs, to reach nice round numbers; I have significant BMI points that I look at when I am close to them, but not when I'm far away; I have trousers that are unforgiving (no stretch at all in them) but get a little closer to fastening every week; I have an ultimate pair of shorts and a glamorous evening dress which only fit when I'm 100% on target. Bootcamp 3 years ago saw me swaning around in said evening dress at 10am in the morning - delighted with myself. Postman's face was interesting Grin

pinknsparkly · 27/05/2022 12:54

@Biwi, I hadn't looked for that thread, but am struggling to find it now that all the stickies have disappeared. I don't suppose you have a handy list of links for the various recipe threads? Perhaps you could add them to the spreadsheet?

BIWI · 27/05/2022 13:12

They're all supposed to be stickied @pinknsparkly but lost their stickies with the replatforming. It's on MNHQ's list but not really a priority for them right now!

FinallyHere · 27/05/2022 13:57

@mimosa1

Not really a recipe but for what it's worth, when we have people over, we finish with a cheese board and set out some sweet things, squares of chocolate, Turkish delight, nougat and dates. Coffee / fresh peppermint tea

It's very conducive to a long lingering stay at the dining table, perhaps with port and a sweet wine. No one have ever noticed I help myself to a small piece of cheese and some celery.

Thanks so much @prettybird ! I'll take a read through that later

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 27/05/2022 18:55

Hi all, just checking in for the day

Did IF today so no breakfast
Had leftover med veg & chicken with roasted peppers and feta for lunch
I am v excited for dinner: steak, creamed spinach, onions halved and roasted in lots of butter
Drank 4L of water and had 2 creamy coffees
Might have a sq of dark choc, but I expect I'll be very full so if I am I won't

BIWI · 27/05/2022 18:58

@IveNeverTriedThisBefore your dinner sounds lovely! Just a word of advice though - you could make it even lower carb by using shallots instead of onions. Onions are actually quite carby at 7.9g carbs per 100g, whereas shallots are only 3.3g.

If you use the banana/echalion shallots they're much easier to peel than the little, round ones.

OP posts:
IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 27/05/2022 19:17

Hi @BIWI i did see that on the spreadsheet and I have subbed them in place of onions when i can find them, but the supermarkets around me don't have them in stock that often, which is a shame as you don't really notice any difference. The steak was in a pack of 2 and DH doesnt eat steak so will have it again tomorrow most likely with roast peppers and courgettes as they need to be used up so hoping that will be lower carb.

BIWI · 27/05/2022 19:19

I'm just jealous that you're having steak ...

OP posts:
UnOeufIsEnough · 27/05/2022 19:21

Good day today apart from being a bit behind on the water!

L: scrambled egg, smoked salmon, avocado and mayo
D: slow cooker stew with beef, mushrooms, shallots and broccoli on the side

Currently enjoying a large gin after what seems like a loooong week!

prettybird · 27/05/2022 19:28

Re the meringue roulade in the Dessert recipe thread that I posted: it makes an enormous roulade. If you have a smalller Swiss roll tin, then I'd half (or 2/3) the quantity. It would also mean you have fewer egg yolks to use up afterwards Grin

(Enriched low carb carbonara, enriched scrambled eggs were two of my "solutions" Wink)

Baystard · 27/05/2022 19:33

Your steak sounds lovely @IveNeverTriedThisBefore, I also love an onion. They're not the lowest carb veg and I feel far more virtuous tucking into a roast onion than a roast potato but that's a really good idea about shallots @BIWI, will be trying that.

B- black coffee
L- smoked salmon omelette with lots of butter.
D- lamb fillet, big salad.

First alcoholic drink of BC tonight. Not intending to make a habit of it but going to enjoy it.

Eating lots of veg but in a rut eating the same types every week, must shake things up a bit 🤔

@FinallyHere your cheeseboard sounds fab as does the relaxed after dinner chatting, I'd love this.

@Justmuddlingalong congrats on the milestone but especially for the KOKO attitude.

@Jollyholibobs when you wean off the carbs it's actually far nicer having veg, so much more interesting to eat.

@venusandmars 😂about dress and postman.

Lougle · 27/05/2022 22:57

Evening all. I'm so impressed that we're coming to the end of week 4! I wondered if I would stick with it when I was contemplating BC.

B - Avocado
L - antipasti selection other half (olives, chorizo bites, sliced chorizo, gouda, salami) I skipped the bread sticks!
D - Salad: Baby leaves, baby plum tomatoes, cucumber, celery, smoked mackerel, oil and vinegar dressing.

Fluid: 3 x 750ml electrolyte water, 800 ml plain water, 3 x cups of tea.
