BIWI · 14/03/2022 09:16

Morning all.

Here, for its last outing this Bootcamp is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I know the last couple of weeks have been a bit quiet, and apologies for Covid-related absence from me as well, but it looks like this has been a pretty successful Bootcamp, which is great.

I don't know when the next Bootcamp will be, but probably won't be till around May at some point. However, we'll keep this thread going in the interim.

Don't forget to have a good rummage around the other threads in the Bootcamp topic in the interim, especially the recipe threads, as there's lots of useful stuff there.

And thank you to everyone who has posted, helped to support other posters and even those who have just lurked at the back! I genuinely wouldn't have even half the motivation to do this without you. This is a rather lovely little corner of Mumsnet.

Thanks @BIWI I will be sticking around, am in the zone now and no desire to ruin that!

Jezzballs2000 · 14/03/2022 09:53

Thanks Biwi! I sort of lost momentum at the end but I also lost 6lbs which i'm actually very pleased worth. It was the 6 that made the difference between my jeans fitting or not! I need to focus a bit and remember how well nixing the pasta and rice works for me. I am starting IF a few mornings a week and think this could be a good thing for me.

Thanks all for your posts and your great humour. Hope to keep seeing everyone here. Flowers

Fleecy · 14/03/2022 10:47

Thank you so much @BIWI.

I haven't weighed this morning but I have lost the best part of a stone even without a final weigh in and I wasn't hugely overweight to begin with, so I'm pleased with that. I'm just going to carry on with it all as I'd like to lose a little more and maintain that.

I am going to look for a few new recipes, as the ones we have are great, but it's always nice to have variety.

Good luck to everyone!

venusandmars · 14/03/2022 10:47

Thanks @BIWI for keeping going with bootcamps. Have missed any big rows and flouncing this time round, that always livens things up Wink Grin

Going to an enighbour's for dinner tonight. He's 78 and very sweet. He was widowed 18 months ago and now he wants to introduce us to his new girlfriend. Don't want to add to his pressure with a complicated list of foods, and will just have to go with whatever he's prepared.

CrystalTits · 14/03/2022 10:55

About half a pound up this week but I'm still over 10lbs down, which I'm vairrrr happy with. Thank you so much @BIWI and all the bootcampers keeping the morale going over the last few weeks, I would never have found the motivation without you. I'm sticking around as I'm only halfway to target (I suspect this second half is going to be really stubborn to lose) - and I really value the support here. Thanks all and well done!

SummerSazz · 14/03/2022 11:13

Thanks @BIWI, a great bootcamp I agree 👏

I've STS as expected. That's 13lb off in total - I'm pleased with this but had wanted to get to the stone off (which I have hit 3 times in the last couple of weeks which is frustrating!).

Well done everyone so far and I'll still be here!!!

RagzRebooted · 14/03/2022 11:29

@SummerSazz same here, I'd hit the stone last week and bounced back up again!
Still, KOKO and more water and we'll get there.

Wilkolampshade · 14/03/2022 15:45

Hey all, and thanks for the new thread @BIWI
Slow progress atm and on another plateau, but this one mainly the result of too much red wine....
However, 16/17 lbs overall so very happy with that. Can't really believe how big I'd let myself get!
2 more stone to go. Will keep chipping away. 😊 Maybe I'll be using the May bootcamp to get rid of the last.? If @BIWI is good enough to run one that is.

Baystard · 14/03/2022 17:04

Thanks for the new thread @BIWI.

I don't know where the time has gone, can't believe were nearly at the end of bootcamp.

B- coffee
L- toasted keto bread with butter
D- ?

I'm not feeling 100%, can't be bothered cooking and not particularly hungry, but worried I'll make a poor choice later if I don't eat something substantial for dinner. Might try the gnarly chicken recipe 🤔

Newlease · 14/03/2022 17:05

well done everyone :) just marking my place not to loose the thread.. I will stay KO until the holiday rush kicks in, I need to get properly into few more of my old clothes before holiday

Andi2020 · 14/03/2022 19:34

Well done everyone
Thanks @BIWI
I was back in office today first time since covid so now I'm going find this harder was good today but don't know how long I can keep it up.
Felt more peckish at work than I did working from home.

SummerSazz · 14/03/2022 20:22

@RagzRebooted we shall indeed!

@Andi2020 I'm always ravenous in the office even though I take yog/cream/rasp, big salad and some cheesies 🤨. Water is easier to drink though I think as it's much warmer than my house!

Pisseslikeahorse · 14/03/2022 20:40

thank you BIWI
its been great getting back into this way of eating. Its not the weight loss today but the extra belt loop that made it.

I'm going on until the easter break and then back after that for a while.
well done LC's

H1Drangea · 14/03/2022 22:03

Thanks for running this @BIWI , real life has been keeping me busy , and I haven't posted much , and haven’t lost much … but I have lost some pounds and a couple of inches off my waist
I’ll keep plodding on 👍

FrenchBoule · 14/03/2022 22:13

Marking place as stuck at work atm 🙂 and internet is sloooow

FinallyHere · 14/03/2022 22:19

Wheeeeee, I've made it through a whole bootcamp, without throwing in the towel.

Thank you to @BIWI , @stuntnun and everyone who has been part of it.

Hoping for company to stick around, to get me through to the next bootcamp.

This time round, I decided just to concentrate on sticking to the ten point plan, KOKOing and trusting that the results would come in time. Something about stepping into scales always seems to throw me into chaos. I have had some NSV's to confirm that it's going well.

Loads to report, of which the latest is that my Yoga pants been getting a bit loose and baggy. I have the exact same colour and style across a full range of sizes, bought reluctantly when I really didn't fit into the current ones any more.

At the weekend, I bit the bullet and threw out the size XL. Took a chance this afternoon and tried on the size M, perfect so wore them to class this evening.

No one but me will even notice so no questions to field

BaconOmelette · 14/03/2022 22:34

Thanks for runnning this @BIWI and well done everyone.

I’m down 13.6lbs since the start of bootcamp. Long way to go for me but I feel like I’ve settled in to low-carbing as a long-term lifestyle now, rather than a fixed term diet. Pleased with my progress (even if I am slightly shy of a whole stone loss!), and I feel like I’ve got a better relationship with food now.

Thanks for all of the advice, but most of all thanks for the encouragement and the reassurance to keep going.

Well done all, onwards & downwards Smile

SummerSazz · 15/03/2022 08:21

A day late (story of my life 😄) I'm a stone off. Def want to move downwards now!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 15/03/2022 10:19

Slinking in shamefacedly after a long absence from these threads. Will catch up properly later.

Have just added the last two weeks to the SS. I had a whoosh (for me) last week and then gone up again this week which I think is period related because my food and water intake has been good. I also had a much more active week last week.

My overall weight loss is tiny but my measurements are really pleasing and I can wear so many more of my clothes now. I'm going to keep low carbing because otherwise I'll go straight back to where I was!

Pleaseandthankyou · 15/03/2022 13:06

I have struggled this boot camp. I had been successfully maintaining but I put on 7lbs at Christmas and I cannot shift them. Every time I take a few pounds off some event turns up and on they go again. I have trying to stay as low carb as possible. I am going on holiday next week, I will have a lot of temptation . Strictly bootcamping before I go and back on it when I get back. It was so much easier when the restaurants and bars were closed and my social life had dropped off a cliff. Thank you for these threads

Baystard · 15/03/2022 14:11

Well done everyone for making it this far, the road may have been bumpy but the attitude of KOKO/climb-back-on amongst bootcampers is really impressive.

Still feeling fairly rotten here - headache, permanently cold and just eurgh (worse than when I had covid last month). However have made decent choices yesterday and today, LC both days despite a craving for chocolates coming out of the blue. I've also put on around 4lb in 24 hours so I can only assume my hormones are a factor.

B- coffee and a toasted keto roll with butter (normally don't eat in the morning but felt horrible)
L- custard (egg yolks and double cream, and tiny amount of natvia). Needed comforting!

D- tandoori chicken and salad.

BIWI · 15/03/2022 14:28

I made another of the recipes from Keto Kitchen last night Creamy baked salmon with spinach and cherry tomatoes

It's been removed from her blog because she's included it in her book, so here it is:

Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (approx 130g/4.5 oz each)
1 tbsp unsalted butter (no idea how you measure a tablespoon of butter so I used roughly 20g)
2 garlic cloves, finely sliced
120g baby spinach leaves
280ml double cream
100g cherry tomatoes, halved
juice of 1/2 lemon
small handful of finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley to serve (I didn't have any of this and it was fine without)

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan/400F/GM6
  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with kitchen paper and season with salt. Set aside
  • Melt the butter in a large, ovenproof, non-stick pan over a low heat and gently fry the garlic until softened. Add the spinach and stir continuously until the leaves wilt. Pour in the cream to gently warm through and season with salt and white pepper
  • Add the salmon fillets to the pan along with the halved cherry tomatoes. Bake in the oven for 15-18 minutes to allow the salmon to poach in the thick cream
  • To serve, squeeze over the juice of half a lemon and season with salt flakes I didn't do this - I forgot! - but it was salty enough with the salt on the salmon initially and the seasoning earlier. Finish with a generous scattering of finely chopped parsley.

It was delicious!

I served it, as she suggested, with the creamy cauliflower mash, that's also in her book, which is a large cauliflower, broken into florets, boiled for 20 minutes till very very soft, then mashed with cream cheese and lots of butter, seasoned with salt and white pepper.

I also made a side of braised sweetheart cabbage - finely sliced half a cabbage, boiled for 5 minutes and then drained. In the same pan, sweat two sliced echalion shallots and then when softened, add the cabbage back in along with the juice of half a lemon. Lid on pan, then braise for around 10-15 minutes. Before serving, remove the lid of the pan, and then turn the heat up so that you reduce the juices a little.

That sounds delicious! I still haven't weighed since last week but my clothes are fitting better and I'm eating so much veg and drinking plenty of water, so I can't help but feel my diet has vastly improved. So yeah, thank you again!

ShangPie · 15/03/2022 21:12

Evening all!

Popping back in to say thanks to @BIWI and helpers for the LCBC motivation, spreadsheet and ongoing support.

I’ve been off the threads since going on a trip to France in w6 and 7 but have somehow despite the boulangeries managed to stick to LC, and have lost close to a stone in total.

Now trying to figure out how to reintroduce the carbs I want to eat in a way that doesn’t tip me back into mindless snacking and regaining the weight.

NigellaAwesome · 15/03/2022 22:29

Crikey @Moonswimmer that is an amazing loss!! Well done.

I've lost 16.5 lbs, which I am really delighted with, although have the same (and more) to still lose. I'm still dicking about, as I have been for the last couple of weeks. I've been caring for my DM after surgery, and everything is out of routine.

The good news is that I haven't had any alcohol or wheat based products (both problem categories for me), BUT I have been having chocolate nuts and my MIL brought homemade meringues. No one else in the family likes them, but we dont want to hurt MIL's feelings as she spends so much time lovingly making them specially. So what I don't understand is why I feel the need to single-handedly eat them all? I can't bring myself to bin them, but what is the solution? I recognise I have some odd guilt based thinking around this.

Plus, I think the sugar has fired up my UC. I am bloated and farting like an absolute trooper. 💨Blush
