Morning all.

Sorry for the late posting this morning. I had a bad night but managed eventually to get to sleep and have only just woken up!

As ever, here's the link to the spreadsheet

The plan for this week is as for last week, i.e. strict Bootcamp during the week but relaxing into Bootcamp Light at the weekend (if you wish).

Hopefully by now it's becoming more of a habit to eat this way, and the urge to snack has receded, and you're finding that you're no longer hungry between meals.

And channelling @ShagMeRiggins, I hope you're remembering the WATER, WATER, WATER! As well as all the fat Grin

Here's to a good week for us all Flowers

I agree @KateF about the anti inflammatory affect. I get very sore joints on hi carb/wheat based diet and LC actually sorts it out.

I made another recipe from the Leto book last night and it was very nice - a sausage and cauliflower bake. I have 3 I need to share in here now. Will do it today

Weighed in this morning and another sneaky lb down. I know it fluctuates daily, but it’s heading in the right direction still.

I’ve been fasting for longer as the hunger isnt there. In the mornings, I think this is helping massively.

Have great weekends everyone

KeyLimePies · 13/11/2021 09:42

Maths isn’t my strongest point so I’m hoping someone else can confirm or correct my calculations here:

12 chipolata sausages, total weight = 375g
Carbs are 3.2 per 100g
So I calculate each chipolata is 1g carbs?
(3.2 x 3.75 = 12g of carbs per pack / 12 = 1g each?)

They’re M&S 90% pork ones btw, very nice 😊

prettybird · 13/11/2021 09:44

3.2g per 100g is fine for sausages Smile - I wouldn't even bother calculating Wink

I haven’t been counting carbs so far, but I’m just curious to work out how many carbs I’m having in general per day as I’m losing at a much slower rate than I usually do. I might be overdoing it somewhere (probably dairy).

I want to hear about the Greek yoghurt soul mate.

@BestIsWest

I want to hear about the Greek yoghurt soul mate.
Well seeing as you asked...

Often people new to low carb are used to fruit (often low fat) yogurt and think they don't like plain/Greek, or they buy one and don't like it. I say, you've just not met the right one! Each brand and supermarket version tastes a bit different and just keep trying until you find one you like. Also possibly as your tastes change and as you get used to less sweet things, you may start to like one you didn't before. It's definitely worth varying the shop you go to when low carbing to make sure you don't get stuck in a rut.

I stock up on Fage when it's on offer in Sainsburys as it has a long shelf life and so I've got some in when I do my shop in Aldi where I don't like the yogurt. I like most of the own brand posh versions but prefer a bigger tub! Also the Yeo Valley Kerned yogurt is an lovely alternative to Greek and very low carb.

MercedesBenz · 13/11/2021 13:35

Oh did someone say sausages ??

Lovely brunch of local sausages , called 50’s style sausages , and fried eggs

Feel very full now

venusandmars · 13/11/2021 14:39

Coffee with cream this morning, then baacon and scrambled eggs for lunch (eaten quite late so I feel fuller for the meal at friends' house this evening). I can't control what the main ingredients are but I do have the choice to control myself when it comes to snacks and nibbles.

It's a glorious day here, not at all like November, so just off a nice walk through the autumn woods.

prettybird · 13/11/2021 16:03

I don't like the (latest version) of Lidl's Greek style yoghurt (which was reformulated down to 5% fat Sad) but I do like their Greek yoghurt (10% fat). ConfusedSmile

Moanranger · 13/11/2021 16:54

Not apropos of LC, but a little group I belong to has organised an Xmas dinner, which is fine (21st Dec), but the food! Shock The starter volunteer is bringing mackerel pate & the main course is cassoulet. I could easily swerve either. Normally I find dinners out at others lovely & tasty, but I think both of these are stodgy & dull. I did volunteer dessert, but someone got there before me - they will probably bring prune tart!
I guess I could bring crudités, and drink! Wine
.

Dellabob123 · 13/11/2021 17:23

I just started making this pork dish and prepped the sauce. Went to cook the fillet and realised I’d forgotten to take out of the freezerHmm

Am now saving the sauce for tomorrow and will defrost pork over night. At least that’s the prep doneGrin

Moanranger I’m convinced lack of/reduced alcohol has a positive effect regarding dripping noses and mucus.

It’s possible the overall diet also helps, but I’m not the science gal—I use the word diet in the sense of what one generally eats, eg vegetarian, rather than in the sense of weight loss.

Either way, nice NSV!

WATER WATER WATER!!

ShagMeRiggins · 13/11/2021 17:34

kerkyra

Does anyone else have the strangest concoctions? Yesterday was trout with roasted veg and some left over chicken fajita mixture on the side

I tend to think LCHF is the tabula rasa of fusion cooking. (I don’t, actually, but it amused me to type it. Grin)

BestIsWest · 13/11/2021 17:44

Ah, in that case Rayna, I’ve sampled a few, mine is probably the M&S Greek yoghurt with Morrison’s a close second. I usually end up with Tesco’s finest though as it’s where I shop usually.

ZiggZagg · 13/11/2021 18:38

Evening campers!

I'm currently cooking a chicken, mushroom, cream, cheese and tenderstem broccoli concoction!

I'm not sure how it will turn out but it's all I can muster tonight.

Have not drank enough water but I'm going to try and make this up between now and bedtime.

Have a great night y'all Grin

ZiggZagg · 13/11/2021 18:49

Also Morrison's own Greek yoghurt is the best 😍

mrshoho · 13/11/2021 19:14

Evening all. I survived the afternoon tea without too much trouble. I wasn't really even that tempted but as the girls had gone to so much trouble I didn't want to not have anything. one finger cucumber sandwich, one scone with cream and half a small cake plus tea and a glass of prosecco plus a g&t slimline. I'm drinking lots of water this evening and back on it again. Yesterday a film birthday with Chinese, baskin robbins cake and other goodies and I didn't have a morsel of it. I had made a cheeseburger pie and had that instead - Delicious so thank you for that recipe!

H1Drangea · 13/11/2021 21:37

I made the chocolate mousse from the dessert recipe thread
Oh
My
Goodness
I didn’t have 60% chocolate so used 55% , it’s delicious . I made half quantity and have 3 glass fulls ( and if I have to fight DH for the extra one tomorrow night , well , it will just show who’s the strongest out of the 2 of us … or I could just make some more ..)

Nutsaremynemesis · 13/11/2021 21:50

@moanranger when I make mackerel pate it’s just smoked mackerel, Philadelphia, lemon juice and black pepper - quite nice with crudités :-)

In other news - I found a sad pink brown iceberg lettuce earlier that had welded itself to the back of the fridge. Chopped it up and threw some in my chicken and mushroom stir fry as I didn’t have any pak Choi - it was lush!! Who knew that cooking lettuce was so nice? Still have half left so I think I might sauté it with butter tomorrow.

No weight lost here and I’m still back up at my start weight - still blaming the HRT / water retention. Fingers crossed it whooshes away soon!

Wildheartsease · 13/11/2021 23:27

Nothing wrong tonight... but need a moan.

Thought about cheating - but didn't - though still feel heavier. (Clearly good at guilt; it is heavy stuff.)

Coping with kitchen chaos. One side all pulled out for re-plastering. Cupboard contents have filled many times their original space and spread out over two rooms. No preparing space. No water in kitchen . No sink.

Behind with work :( Catching up tomorrow if I can.

MerylSqueak · 14/11/2021 00:38

That sounds like a great strain @Wildheartsease. It must be really difficult to organise eating. Seems such a faff that we do it so often as a species! I feel heavy too, although the scales say not. I'm putting it down to my period. Had a crap day at drinking water too. Onwards and upwards. You'll get there both with the kitchen and with the weight loss. Flowers

JunieSpoony · 14/11/2021 00:45

Had a good start to the day (boiled eggs, Greek yoghurt) but got a migraine around lunchtime. The prescription meds worked (seems to be about 66% success rate) but they leave me feeling woozy. My usual recovery food is toast with marmite and a can of coke. Had the toast but didn’t ask anyone to buy me a coke. Not sure if I can find an alternative to carbs in that situation, and it really helps the lingering nausea. Anyone else in the same boat?

FusionChefGeoff · 14/11/2021 08:13

I love smoked mackerel pate and add a spoon of horseradish - yum!

@Wildheartsease well done for not trying to eat your feelings away. Emotional eating is such a curse.

@JunieSpoony looking at your normal recovery food it's a salt / sugar rebalancing so could you try an electrolyte tab???? There are low / no sugar ones.

I'm finally back home and therefore back in control so I am properly on BC for the rest. I was having to eat too many compromises / cheats to post my daily food but hope to use that again now for accountability.

Yesterday was a disappointing prawn salad (flavourless and boring) at the park cafe but made up by a gorgeous 'brinner' ie a fry up with sausage, black pudding, bacon, grilled toms and fried eggs. Absolutely stuffed and exhausted so bed with kids at 9pm and no snacking! Oh, tell a lie, I had some cheese and some macademia nuts when we got back from the park as was hungry after salad.

Todays lunch - prob mackerel salad with loads of Mayo / hm coleslaw if I've got time then I'm doing some kind of stuffed chicken wrapped in prosciutto with baked 'squash' and braised cabbage. Baked potatoes for the rest of the family.

Jollyholibobs · 14/11/2021 08:50

Morning all. I’ve been reading the thread but not posting as I have been unwell. Lots of great wisdom and inspiration. Hoping antibiotics have done there job now and feeling alert this morning for first time in several weeks. Will use the time that DH is out cycling to catch up on all the work that I am behind with. Then I can relax for the rest of the day.

@JunieSpoony The Seriously Low Carb bread. Order on line. Is expensive but a good standby for when you need toast and marmite. You need to keep it in the freezer. I make a loaf last a month and have a regular order once a month.

Good day yesterday lunch was avocado, spinach and courgette salad with homemade Mayo and nice French cheese and a little bit of Greek yoghurt. Dinner was easy fish curry from the Fast800 blue book. I had cauliflower rice with mine and DH and adult DD had rice. It was really yummy. Definitely will make again. Very quick and easy too. DH and DD enjoyed it too.

Really nice to spend evening with DD too.

Today will be
L green soup, cheese, spinach and avacado salad.
D pan fried mackerel with FLGV and celeriac wedges.
