Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

BIWI · 25/04/2021 23:22

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

Welcome MTwhyowhy, lovely bunch here

Makegoodchoices · 27/04/2021 12:13

I appear to have lost interest in food so I’m not sure what today holds, probably:

B: Greek yog
L: Scrambled eggs with cheese
D: Chicken and veg - might be spicy, might not.

I’m absolutely freezing today so my planned salads will have to hold on.

ListenLinda · 27/04/2021 12:27

Just caught up with the thread. Was DS birthday yesterday, but i stayed very good! I expect I will be at the hospital most of the day tomorrow so will plan accordingly food wise.
On another note, as per last BC, i seem to be struggling with BO Blush i washed under arms with soap and water three times yesterday and still Confused
Hopefully a short term thing.

BIWI · 27/04/2021 12:57

You're very welcome @MTwhyowhy!

Have a read of the week 1 thread and the prep thread for some more background reading.

Then just dive in!

Just browsing the spreadsheet, and there are some amazing losses for the first two weeks!

But the big Star has to go to @Moonswimmer who has lost over 17lbs in just two weeks - absolutely fantastic.

Congratulations, Moonswimmer!!

Moonswimmer · 27/04/2021 13:17

Aww thank you @BIWI, but I think I might also have the most to lose though Blush. Anyway, I will gratefully accept the congratulations and be all inspired to not give in!

Moonswimmer · 27/04/2021 13:19

Also:

B: rhubarb and cream and creamy coffee
L: 2 x low carb sausages and oily salad
D: to be decided! Am watching everyone else’s plans for inspiration.

prettybird · 27/04/2021 13:49

@MrsKoala : what collagen supplement do you take? Me, vain? Wink

Oneborneverydecade · 27/04/2021 13:57

I'm still catching up but jumping into say @MrsKoala I'm 5'10 and 43 - we're definitely in the same gang!

I almost can't look now in case I've posted mid convo

Back to page 5 I go

ditavonteesed · 27/04/2021 14:19

Thanks @BIWI and @StuntNun I am due a blood test in the next couple of weeks so I'll see what that says. I will keep a proper food log over the next few days on mfp and check what my carbs are. It might explain why I seem to get off lightly if Cathy comes to visit occasionally. (I think 3 or 4 times since I started) bodies are so complicated aren't they as well a hypothyroid I also take metformin for pcos insulin resistance, think the 2 things actively work against each other.

ditavonteesed · 27/04/2021 14:20

Congratulations @Moonswimmer that's amazing.

MrsKoala · 27/04/2021 14:26

@prettybird I take the beauty pie one . But it’s a membership thing so you’d need to join. This article looks at them and has recommendations . I’d stick to marine collagen ones as they are closest to our own collagen and it takes at least 3 months to see a difference. I’ve been taking it since Dec and have recently had some compliments about my skin looking more taught and fresh. A neighbour who moved in Jan came by last weekend and said ‘wow your skin looks great’ like it was improved since she last saw me.

You should also take one with vit c included as it helps absorption.

They aren’t cheap tho at between £50-100 per month for the good ones. So if you only have that budget and want to see more of a difference on your face then Profhilo injections may be a better way to go. I do like the collagen too tho because it covers all skin, hair and nails and joints too not just the visage.

As we're sharing cute animal pics here is the fluffy assassin.

prettybird · 27/04/2021 14:58

In an NSV, the small belt that I bought from John Lewis (as a substitute for the large Hmm one that dh bought me for Christmas and which we still have to take back ) is now doing up comfortably in the second hole Smile

BIWI · 27/04/2021 15:01

Well done @prettybird!

In other news, no idea if others are keeping up with the challenges we started back in March, but today I ran my first 30 minutes. Week 1 of the last week of Couch 25K. Halo

All caught up finally

I forgot to thank biwi and cheese for looking at the menu for last night. I went for the steak without chips and it was okay. I have been a bit twatty (as usual) so need to get a grip

Love the finches @Random789

Well done @Moonswimmer fantastic result

Moonswimmer · 27/04/2021 16:16

Well done @BIWI! I wasn’t here then, but am very impressed and up for a similar challenge if anyone else is also eying their ancient dusty trainers with trepidation.

Bestbees · 27/04/2021 16:26

Well done @BIWI I have stopped my work out challenge but am trying to get moving everyday one way or another.

They have accidently cut through a sewage pipe here so the stink is putting me off food!

@Moonswimmer that's amazing, well done!

prettybird · 27/04/2021 16:28

I'm planning on starting running again tomorrow. It will just be a short run of less that one and a half miles - about 20 minutes because I'll be running it really slowly.

TheHoover · 27/04/2021 16:38

Thanks for the Keto rash link BIWI. I’m lucky in that Its not really itching but it’s very unsightly. Will gladly up my carbs starting with transitioning to BC Lite and relaxing a bit on veg. Congrats on the run also!

Huge well done moonswimmer for being this fortnight’s biggest loser

Congrats also to colouring for breaking the BMI barrier too. That’s my next goal and when I reach it I will be dancing around the house going ‘I’m overweight! I’m overweight!’ (Except when DH is in earshot as there’s no way I’m admitting to him that I was/am obese’).

Andi2020 · 27/04/2021 16:49

All caught up on thread
That made me laugh @Thehoover about in earshot of your DH
Well done @BIWI on your run
I will stick with walking
Sleepless night ahead with blood pressure monitor on for 24 hours hopefully this diet has settled and BP report will come out normal.
B boiled egg green tea greek yogurt
L 2 hard boiled eggs spinach ham slice 2 tomatoes slice cheese
D Tuna and spinach and coleslaw
2.5l water

Random789 · 27/04/2021 16:51

I'm off for a run now, having just finished my working day. The hope is that it will give me a morale boost that will help me to stick to the rules tonight. Part of the reason for posting is that I can't not go for a run if I've declared that I will.
For two weeks, Ive felt very positive and found it easy to keep to the plan, but now I feel more feeble, and I keep worrying that I'm eating too much, failing, etc, which can of course be the forerunner of an eventual slide into giving up.

I usually go on a riverside and woodland route that takes about 35 mins. (As a bonus it takes me through one of the locations where Dominic Cummings was spotted when he broke the lockdown rules.) But I might shorten it a bit if I still have that carb-flu leaden feeling.

BIWI · 27/04/2021 17:04

@Random789 the best way I keep my resolve and focus is through reading and learning more about low carbing. There's so much more to it than just weight loss.

In the short term, have a read of some of the resources linked to on the spreadsheet. In the longer term - i.e. when you can get hold of some of the books! - I can recommend reading Gary Taubles' tome "The Diet Delusion" and also Nina Teicholz's book "The Big Fat Surprise"

Dr John Briffa's book "Escape the Diet Trap" is also a good one. Once you realise just how much science, Big Food (and also the Government and Media) have misled us over the years, you'll think about food, calories and dieting in a totally different way.
