Morning all.

[[Here's the Spreadsheet as always

I hope everyone had a good week, and that any Mother's Day treats haven't messed things up too much Grin

So we enter our final two weeks. Still time to shift a couple of those pesky pounds - especially if you keep focused and stay strict. And a reminder, channelling my inner Shag, WATER, WATER, WATER!

Thanks @prettybird I have both sizes so will have a look at the recipe. I do love Eaton Mess so very excited to try that. May have to be my easter luxury.

cheeseisthebest · 18/03/2021 19:32

Greebols that's amazing. Good luck for future work.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 18/03/2021 19:32

Ah, Greebo, big hug . I don't have anything emotionally literate to say, but my heart goes out to you.

(history of food/criticism here, so a lot of defiant eating where treats and misery go together Confused)

Turnips.

Bestbees · 18/03/2021 19:47

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal Flowers

aren't we lucky to have a healthy eating thread where the number on the scales is not the only thing that is important? Most lovely thread I have ever been part of. Helping me and others tackle lots of difficult feelings around food, appearance and health. @BIWI and @Ninkanink thank you.

Dreamqueen · 18/03/2021 19:47

Thank you for the egg yolk ideas.

Dreamqueen · 18/03/2021 19:51

GreebolsIsmyspiritanimal thank you for sharing your story. Flowers for your strength and bravery to open up. Everyone on this thread is so supportive and kind. It feels a very safe space to share on.

FusionChefGeoff · 18/03/2021 20:04

Another one sending out love and huge identification with pushing the losses a bit further to @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal. Not any more, thankfully, but I definitely recognise that from my teens / early twenties.

My mum, dad and grandma both place huge value on how fat / thin someone is and are horribly condescending about people who don't eat like them / look like them which has definitely given me a very twisted relationship with food / weight so I hear you there!!

This thread is so amazing.

And now I know what BIWI stands for

Ps when I was reading earlier but didn't have time to post, I had a Pavlovian reaction as soon as I saw @ShagMeRiggins name I subconsciously stood up to refill my water bottle Grin

I feel my work here is done.

@Purpletomato hello, I'm not sure if anyone replied? If they did apologies, if not quite a few of us take these to help with headaches

You can buy them from Amazon or Holland & Barratt.
How are you finding things?

Oneborneverydecade · 18/03/2021 20:11

@venusandmars I loved your profound moment around the use of the word treat last night. I've been thinking on it all day. Thank you

Oneborneverydecade · 18/03/2021 20:16

@FusionChefGeoff my parents are the same, especially my step dad. He's 73, sporty and has never had a weight problem. He doesn't seem able to comprehend that people are overweight for reasons beyond overeating

FusionChefGeoff · 18/03/2021 20:29

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

My "garlic bread with pizza and chips" DH has just wandered in and said

"I might try a couple of weeks without bread"

Mimosa1 · 18/03/2021 21:13

Wow @FusionChefGeoff ! I remember something similar happened with my DH after I'd started low carving for a while - annoyingly he immediately started losing more weight faster than I was 😫

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal you've done an extraordinary thing in changing jobs, focusing on fitness and completing rehab from your old injury and finding an agent. These are huge accomplishments! I just wanted to say how impressed I am. It's so bloody hard to change even a thing about oneself and you've only gone and done all of that!

Food today was Cornish crunch and SLC bread and celery for lunch, dinner was pork belly and cabbage.

All the best

Thank you. It's fair to say my 40s brought about something of a midlife crisis!

nowlook · 18/03/2021 21:51

Good evening to all, but especially Greebo Thanks

I can completely see how frightening it must have been for you as a little girl (or kitten Wink). Faced with that start in life, I imagine you've built up quite a few defences over the years. It's remarkable then that you trust us all enough to share your story. Thank you.

All bootcamps are great, but Carlsberg must've had a hand in this one Smile

nowlook · 18/03/2021 22:02

For those asking about ice cream, I've just seen quite a few on the desserts recipe thread. It's lost its sticky, but there are some fantastic ideas on there.

nowlook · 18/03/2021 22:05

I've definitely found my culinary level with this jelly and cream dish. Knowing me, I'll still try and toast it or summat.Grin

FusionChefGeoff · 18/03/2021 22:28

I'm craving pancakes and found this from the desserts thread but whey protein is very expensive from what I've found - any subs possible do you think?? I've not ventured into low carb 'baking' so am clueless!!

ListenLinda · 19/03/2021 05:03

Morning all.

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal hugs to you Flowers this thread is the best, keep on coming back Smile

So, a NSV last night. I had a set of two bath towels, that never fully wrapped all the way around my body, always a sneaking bit i had to hold together. Not anymore Grin wrapped all the way round last night!

Mid week weigh in says I have had a gain. I know why. Not enough water (hiding from @ShagMeRiggins now) but can rectify that. I think the low carb lemon drizzle may have something to do with it too, it didn’t sit right and it’s now in the bin.

Was on boohoo last night too, looking for a spring jacket. I ordered a lovely yellow one and ended up ordering a pair of jeans and two pairs of leggings in the size below due to the baggiest on the waist of my current ones. For the first time in two years, I ordered from the non Plus Size section of the website.
You guys will know how good that felt!

And it clicked (bit late I know!) ... that the number on the scale is not the be all and end all.

Hugs to all and let’s KOKO this week and next and onto the next BC Flowers

Onelittlepiglet · 19/03/2021 06:28

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal Hugs to you and thank you for sharing about your childhood - that must have been very hard. It made me cry, but because I recognise many of those issues from my mum’s childhood and how she viewed food. I think the fear of being hungry was passed on to me and my siblings too. Both my parents had very poor upbringings during the war, so probably overfed us to make up for it.

Thank you also for those posting info about under active thyroids - I sometimes forget I need to be careful about it. I also now have Hashimoto’s which was diagnosed recently (probably had it for years but my medical care has not been great being overseas) so the info @RagzReturnsRebooted posted made me realise I need to up my carbs a bit as I’ve been keeping them very low. Will have some more carby veg or add some nuts/pulses rather than a pizza though! Grin

ouchmyfeet · 19/03/2021 06:36

Glad you have made progress @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal, and how brilliant is it that we have such insightful members who helped you get to the root of the issue so quickly StarStarStar

Jollyholibobs · 19/03/2021 08:14

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal so sorry to hear about you difficult childhood. Flowers

I have had a bit of a rubbish week. Was unwell last weekend and developed carb cravings which having given into have just got worse all week. Have been a really carby twat. Have also not been running and have been feeling guilty. I am aiming for maintenance not weight loss and have been maintaining a pretty level weight for last 3-4 months after 30lb loss. **Nink’s post about watching out for perfectionism got me thinking. I am maintaining and have been doing well but this week I’ve been binging on carbs again. All sorts of things that for the last few months had completely lost their appeal for me. Will try to do better today. It’s entirely in my control. I need to believe that. I am vegetarian (+small amounts of fish) so losing pulses has put more cheese and yoghurt into my diet for protein and nuts. All things that can trigger binging in me. I think I need to experiment with adding a few pulses and see if I can get the balance right.
