Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all

We're half way through now. Hopefully by now we should all be getting used to a low carb way of eating, which will mean we should be fat-adapted.

I hope you've enjoyed the recipe challenges, and I really look forward to reading more recipes.

I especially hope that the challenge has lured the lurkers out! Please post your recipes!

And, of course, here's hoping that we all have a good week ahead

I love pork belly and that way of cooking sounds amazing @ShagMeRiggins ! We can’t get pork here very easily (it’s a mainly Muslim population so pork is rare), but I do order it in sometimes for a treat! It’s one thing I look forward to when we finally move back to the UK. I think the kids will eat pork for every meal in some form or other as they love it too!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 23/02/2021 17:05

So, skipping lunch didn't work. Turns out that Morrisons sells bacon ribs in their deli section - very fatty but sooo delicious I ate two. The good news is that I'm unlikely to want dinner because they are very filling!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 23/02/2021 18:01

@ShagMeRiggins thank you, that's a very kind offer and I'd be happy to send you payment for postage if you'd like to get rid of one. Seems like a shame to order one if you've got so many sitting around!

Made these again, ketogenicwoman.com/air-fryer-salt-and-pepper-crispy-pork-belly-crack/
went a lot better this time as I put less salt and managed to slice them thinner. Would be even better if the pork belly was fatter, was less than half fat (bloody Tesco) so ill have to try the butcher in the village and get some proper belly. When we had shares in local pigs a few years ago, we had amazing pork that DH butchered himself and the belly was too fatty for streaky bacon! Would have made excellent pork crack.
Unfortunately DS2 was in the kitchen and has eaten half of them with me!

Dreamqueen · 23/02/2021 18:15

*@ShagMeRiggins*thank you for the gel kit info. I'm stopping myself ordering one. Not sure if I'm skilled enough to actually do it and remove it successfully.

Great tips for the pork belly. Sainsburyd delivered a piece toady so thats tomorrows dinner sorted.

ShagMeRiggins · 23/02/2021 18:41

@Oddbutnotodd

Hi ShagMeRiggins. Is the pork 188 degrees Fahrenheit for the meat itself? Just looked at my meat thermometer. It sounds delicious btw.
It’s 188 Celsius. UK numbers.

What I loved was the sheer simplicity of it, and knowing that fat side down plus 188 made a difference.

I don’t want to over egg it, though, there are loads of amazing pork belly recipes and this one was easiest for me.

Buy the best you can afford, y’all.

MarmaladeTeepee · 23/02/2021 18:58

The crispy chicken was a success, kind of kiev-y. The DC enjoyed it so that's a win. I'll pop the recipe in the chicken thread.

nowlook · 23/02/2021 19:26

Am an idiot. Just posted my thanks to @prettybird for remembering the celeriac fondant on the red meat recipe thread Confused

Anyway, I had it with duck, spring greens and fancy mushrooms and it was lovely. So thanks again Grin

ZiggZagg · 23/02/2021 19:34

Have not fell off the wagon, rather belly flopped off it into a load of Turkish Bread Sad I just ordered the meat and salad and it came with bread and I ate it, it was so worth it but now I'm kicking myself!!

Back on it 1000% tomorrow!

Loving all the nail talk shag, my niece does gel nails and I have booked her for my nails, eyebrows, dermaplaning and lashes at 9am on 12th April Grin

BIWI · 23/02/2021 19:34

Tonight's dinner - a slightly amended version of the Idiot Proof Diet's moussaka. (I used 2 aubergines rather than one, and added mushrooms and a tin of tomatoes to the meat).

I also added a small amount of ground cumin along with the cinnamon.

Looks lovely @BIWI!

Ended up fasting until 5 today. Had slice of pate whilst cooking. Dinner was a Jamie oliver dish. Sliced celeriac and swede thinly, bake with oil for 15 mins. Fry off mushrooms in butter and add to veg. Top with seabass and herbs, bake for 14 mins. Served with salsa Verde and salad. Followed by Greek yog. Was yummy!

Ninkanink · 23/02/2021 20:11

@ZiggZagg I was just thinking to myself today that no one’s really been a carby twat so far, and what with no flouncing it doesn’t quite feel like a real bootcamp! So I think you were just performing a public service, really, to make us all feel properly at home! Wink

Tbh I was very tempted to have a flatbread with my dinner tonight as well... I managed to swerve it this time, but only because I felt so good after not buying the lipstick yesterday that I thought I’d better keep things clean so I can feel good for a bit longer! It’s tasty but I can do without it for a little while yet...

Ironically I’m on the double carbs thread vehemently defending the eating of more than one carby carb in one meal. But I have stated that I do low carb much of the time, for full disclosure, and it’s the principle of it that bugs me - there is nothing morally wrong, or automatically ‘bad’ for you, with sometimes having salmon en croute with a few boiled potatoes, or lasagne with chips/a slice of garlic bread, or naan and a bit of dal or rice...

We’re in the middle of building an IKEA sideboard right now (by we I mean DH, really), and amazingly we haven’t argued even once!! Shock I’m mainly providing moral support at this stage, but I did help with some bits earlier...

ListenLinda · 23/02/2021 20:19

Currently wearing a pjama top that is considerably looser than the last time I wore it, especially around the boobage.
Yet, the scales haven’t budged for nearly 3 weeks sigh

ouchmyfeet · 23/02/2021 20:30

I always add an extra aubergine to that recipe too BIWI, it's lovely isn't it.

Very tempted by those fries pork belly strips Ragz, I might have to try those this weekend. Got my groceries coming tomorrow so I've added pork to my list.

Ninkanink · 23/02/2021 20:31

@ListenLinda if your body us smaller then you are losing fat, so there is absolutely no reason to worry about the number on the scales. You are due a whoosh soon. Flowers

@ZiggZagg I wasn’t calling you a twat, just to be clear! Blush

ListenLinda · 23/02/2021 20:40

@Ninkanink thank you, I hope so. I’m living in jumpers and leggings at the minute so I only really get those moments when I wear clothes I havent for a while. So my only validation is when I see the numbers on the scales and it’s the same 0.5lb on and off. I feel like chucking them out Grin

ZiggZagg · 23/02/2021 20:47

@Ninkanink haha carby twat! I love it.... or i hate it and say you sir are the twat! Flounces off thread Wink

Lyrata · 23/02/2021 20:47

I have also indulged in spending today - I’ve bought a bunch of new clothes because it feels so summery. I hope some of them look good. I don’t dare look at my bank balance but I’m pretty sure I’ve saved hundreds on junk food and wine over the last six months of LC!

Ninkanink · 23/02/2021 20:49

It’s an established bootcamp term of yore (generally only used in respect of one’s self, tbf) but no one’s had to confess to carby twatdom yet this time around!

prettybird · 23/02/2021 20:53

We're just not admitting to them Ninkanink Wink glosses over the recent incident with some tablet Blush

Ninkanink · 23/02/2021 20:56

@ListenLinda I can’t remember are you close to goal or a ways away yet? Because if you’re looking to continue between boot camps and participate in the next one, and will be looking to lose more than a few pounds, it really is well worth taking photos now. It can help so much.

If you have a bikini or some shorts and a sports top that you want to fit into nicely that’s the best because it doesn’t cover anything up so you see progress very clearly from week to week/month to month/bootcamp start to bootcamp end. Front on and side!

Ninkanink · 23/02/2021 20:57

Hahaha @prettybird! I’m shocked, I tell you!

nowlook · 23/02/2021 21:23

Agree about choosing something that doesn't cover you up Nink

Most of my jeans fall into that category, mind Grin

An NSV of sorts. I bought a frankly hideous Boden coat from eBay during the last lockdown. That's now too big, but I would never have worn it anyway. Very "Patagonian panpipes star gets invited to Buckingham Palace garden party"

WitchWand · 23/02/2021 21:48

@MarmaladeTeepee and @Lyrata Thanks for your lovely encouragement.
I've been thinking about maintenance for a while now. At first, I felt quite nervous about it. Now I'm beginning to feel excited.
Reading about the next bootcamp is great too. I feel very reassured that I'll be able to come back and get the support I'll need for maintenance. It's a lovely thought. Knowing I'm not going to be alone whilst I readjust to my new set point. Thanks for saying about the next bootcamp @BIWI .

That said, I'm not there yet. So, it's eyes down, look in. And on I go... Grin
