I rather suspect that a lot of us have been so far off the wagon this weekend that it's disappeared over the far horizon!

having to post on the spreadsheet may sober us all up, in more ways than one!

I hope any cheats were enjoyable. There's nothing worse than deciding to cheat and then not liking it.

But from now, it's time to buckle down and get back into the swing of things. If you did cheat, please don't complain that the scales aren't being kind to you. It's an inevitable consequence.

So let's focus on a really strict week, recognising that this is the end of our first half of Bootcamp.

Good luck to us all Flowers

So sorry @AthelstaneTheUnready Thanks. It's such an awful time to lose someone Sad

Jollyholibobs · 17/02/2021 19:30

@AthelstaneTheUnready sorry for your loss. Good way to go though. Flowers

@prettybird lovely clothes shopping. Maybe you will find a use for both black and navy?

@nowlook I’ve had my eye on these but as only wear slippers or wellingtons these days can’t justify it. Expensive and a bit blingy but I love them.

@Dailyhandtowelwash thanks I will look up the Angela Kilmartin book.

Off to cook Shakshouka with FLGVSmile

ZiggZagg · 17/02/2021 19:30

Sorry for your loss @AthelstaneTheUnready , but what a way to go, mid sentence, leave them wanting more!! I'm sure there will be lots of sadness, joy at the memories over the coming weeks, take care of yourself!

I haven't felt very hungry today-

L Greek yoghurt
D Scrambled Eggs and a cream cheese pancake

And all the water with more to go.

ouchmyfeet · 17/02/2021 19:44

@Dreamqueen

Ouch I made the swede dauphinoise today. It's so delicious. I had it with lamb chops and kale with butter. We're proper old people here and have dinner between 4.30 and 5pm. Followed off with a couple spoons of greek yoghurt. It was all so satisfying.
I've had it at each of my last 3 meals . One more and it'll all be gone. Very satisfying indeed. I think I actually prefer it to potato dauphinoise.

So sorry for your loss @AthelstaneTheUnready . My own granny was a similar age and went a similar way, definitely the best ending. Hope you are taking comfort from happy memories tonightThanks

LostaraYil · 17/02/2021 19:56

Sorry for your loss @AthelstaneTheUnready.Flowers
Lovely NSV with the belt, @prettybird.
My mood has been up and down recently too, today it just rained and rained so I didn't get around to the gardening I had planned, or anything else really. I also ended up having some of the prosecco left over from valentine's day and feel a bit tipsy to be honest. Oh well, tomorrow I have a vet appointment to look forward to and I might tempt DS out of the house by promising him a McDonald's on the way back. I'm happy with my food at the moment so shouldn't be tempted! Today
B- Greek yogurt with blueberries
L- bacon egg and tomato seriously low carb roll
D- stir fried veg with salmon.

ouchmyfeet · 17/02/2021 19:56

I made Lamb Cutlets with Chilli and Black Olives (from Nigella Express) today. It didn't need any modification to be bootcamp friendly.

It was gorgeous, I can definitely recommend it (didn't take a picture though, sorry)

Picture of the recipe below, but I have added it in full to the recipe thread

I was a bit alarmed reading through a few cookbooks last night just how many have sugar/honey/syrup added. Nigella is one of the worst culprits! My cookbook collection is already far too big, but I think it has a Nigel slater shaped gap in it, would anyone recommend a particular book of his? Would love to browse in a bookshop Sad

@ouchmyfeet Am adding lamb cutlets to next week's shopping list now 😍. Sounds divine! What did you serve with them?

We've just had chicken skewers with satay sauce and steamed broccoli with a drizzle of sesame oil.

MarmaladeTeepee · 17/02/2021 20:09

Sending my condolences @AthelstaneTheUnready Flowers 101, I bet she had some good stories!

I had meatloaf for tea for the first time ever, it was a hit with the whole family. I couldn't do venus' version on the recipe thread as I'd used all my ground almonds on cheesy muffins so I used this one from the diet doctor website and added a splash of worcestershire sauce to the meat mix and a teaspoon of mustard to the 'gravy'. I used a standard loaf tin and only needed around 400g of mince to fill it. Perfect for my limited culinary skills. www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/bacon-wrapped-keto-meatloaf

Lyrata · 17/02/2021 20:27

Sorry for your loss AthelstaneTheUnready - but 101! Wow. I bet she’s handed down some great genes.

My NSV today was that I called my mum on my run and chatted for the whole thing without losing my breath. A possible sign it’s not hard enough but I felt very smug.

I finished the evil Itsu seaweed thins today. I ate nine packets, which I think must mean I only actually had six yesterday.

Breakfast: creamy coffee and itsu thins
Snack: itsu thins
Lunch: bone broth, tomato salad with chimmichurri dressing, itsu thins
Snack: itsu thins
Dinner: skin on BONELESS chicken thighs (I was delighted to find these) with shallots, tomatoes, aubergine, courgette and garlic.

Howdidthathappen1 · 17/02/2021 20:39

I've scrolled the recipes a bit but could anyone give me a few quick ideas of portable food. Got called out today for work at 8am and by 3pm was so hungry I practically inhaled a brownie a colleague brought me. I have a weird job that can occasionally involve ridiculous periods in situations where I cant get to a shop or toilet!
I've got egg muffins on the list to make - any other ideas i could keep on a in case I have to grab and go basis??

Lyrata · 17/02/2021 20:42

Homemade satay type sticks or little kebabs? I hear the cheeseburger pie is incredible cold. You can also make egg pots or sous vide eggs for a smooth, silkier taste to mix it up.

Cocktail sausages in a pinch. Cut up crudité with sour cream or another dip. Cold steak. Flasks of soup...

ouchmyfeet · 17/02/2021 20:43

We had them with leftover turnip dauphinoise and some buttered leeks. It was quite rich with the dauphinoise and all the lamb fat, but very tasty

ouchmyfeet · 17/02/2021 20:46

Lyrata has some great ideas there. I thought maybe cold meatballs or cubes of cheese??Or perhaps get some of that low carb bread that people are raving about and then you can pack a sandwich.

This is something I worry about when I end up having to leave the house to go to work. I really don't want to slip back into convenience food

ChristMyArse · 17/02/2021 20:49

@AthelstaneTheUnready I'm very sorry. 101 is an amazing achievement. My cousin died this morning from cancer, the world feels very cruel for us all at the moment doesn't it.

Thank you to all of you that have posted regarding household issues.

I'm lost with it all.. DD is 14 and really playing up. She's gone from being brilliant to awful in a few short weeks. OH is unhappy with her behaviour and has made the choice not to be near her for the time being. She said some extremely cruel things to him, and whilst I understands he is angry and hurt I also have the maternal pull just to fix it. I can't control him though, and I need to let him come round in his own time. It's utterly shit.

Sorry for moaning a lot recently, normally I'm pretty happy go lucky but am not feeling myself with it all!

Bestbees · 17/02/2021 21:12

@Howdidthathappen1 does it need to be long life? I usually have a small tupperware of almonds about my person. Keeps for ages and better than most other convince snacks. Otherwise babybel/cheese portions. Beef jerky? Olives-long life packets. You could have these in fridge/cupboard tucked away to grab if you have to suddenly go to work.

Lamb cutlets look delicious @ouchmyfeet will add them to the list. I agree about the sugar/honey in recipes. Same as flour to thicken sauces. Often reasonably easy to remove though.

@MarmaladeTeepee meat loaf always goes down well here. Did you adapt the other amounts as you used 400g mince?

ZiggZagg · 17/02/2021 21:13

Oh @ChristMyArse that's sad, thinking of you, cancer is such a wanker Sad

ZiggZagg · 17/02/2021 21:17

Also have a DD14 @ChristMyArse this whole pandemic is playing havoc on their little minds and attitudes. Be firm with her but also understand she will have a lot of anxiety, missing her friends etc. Could you try doing something fun or relaxing as a family? Maybe ask her to choose and pretend you're enjoying it!Grin

Chin up though, teenagers are proper jerks at times too!

WitchWand · 17/02/2021 21:17

@AthelstaneTheUnready and @ChristMyArse I'm so sorry for your losses.
Take care of yourselves.

Doilooklikeatourist · 17/02/2021 21:21

@Howdidthathappen1 cooked sausages ? Hard boiled eggs , rollitas or packs of salami and Serrano ham

nowlook · 17/02/2021 21:21

@Howdidthathappen1
I've had to dash away on trips unexpectedly on this woe before! The easiest "bung it in a carrier bag" stuff is:

Individual cheeses/baby bels
Pork scratchings
Pepperami (sp?)
Tuna infusions pots
Pickled cucumbers
Pickled eggs (and other pickles)
Sachets or tubes of mayo, pats of butter
It's a bit Atkins, but this is an emergency Grin

If you have more time

Bestbees · 17/02/2021 21:21

@ChristMyArse Flowers sorry for your loss. If it makes you feel better my father and brother didn't speak for about a year when he was 14/15 and they are close now. Teenagers are tough!

Howdidthathappen1 · 17/02/2021 21:21

Of course I was over complicating things in my brain freeze! Packet of nuts in the glove box and babybel on the shopping list to keep in the fridge ready to grab. Its not all the time as usually I've got time to either eat or prepare something its for those grab and go no time to spare moments.
Little bit disappointed with myself today but at the time I wasn't coping with hunger and a colleague did me a favour by bringing me food!
I'm obviously nowhere near fasting- in fact no appetite reduction at all

WitchWand · 17/02/2021 21:22

@Bestbees

Sorry to hear so many people struggling with their mood at the moment Flowers *@BIWI* pause in the fabric of time is a beautiful sentiment.

Those talking about adult children. When I was in my early 20s my DH was very ill. He was given a 30%chance of survival and 30% chance of the treatment itself killing him (stem cell transplants). As he got better we had ivf and I had multiple miscarriages. It was horrific. Now as a parent I look back and think about how that was for my parents, i was very unhappy obviously and my life was so different to what any parent would want. Being a parent never gets easier, it just changes I guess!

I hope posting here helps people, and that this WOE helps to steady our nerves and keep us in health to best manage our emotions and those around us.

That sounds to have been an incredibly hard time. I found your post very moving and profound @Bestbees. I hope you're taking care of yourself too.
nowlook · 17/02/2021 21:24

@Jollyholibobs Thanks! Yes, like those but grey or navy and with the decimal point in a different place Grin

Thing is, I hate how my legs look in flats. Maybe I need to transition to cigarette pants...

ouchmyfeet · 17/02/2021 21:25

So sorry @ChristMyArse Thanks
Cancer is a bastard
