I rather suspect that a lot of us have been so far off the wagon this weekend that it's disappeared over the far horizon!

having to post on the spreadsheet may sober us all up, in more ways than one!

I hope any cheats were enjoyable. There's nothing worse than deciding to cheat and then not liking it.

But from now, it's time to buckle down and get back into the swing of things. If you did cheat, please don't complain that the scales aren't being kind to you. It's an inevitable consequence.

So let's focus on a really strict week, recognising that this is the end of our first half of Bootcamp.

Good luck to us all Flowers

I’m so sorry for your losses. Hard enough to deal with at the best of times- even harder now without the usual support networks.

It’s taken me until today to catch up and climb back on the wagon that I fell off spectacularly at the weekend. Well, I didn’t fall. I leapt.

BUT it has felt sooooo empowering to embrace boot camp again. The crap I ate didn’t make me feel good at all- I felt hungry all the time and I felt sooooo tired. I really hope I remember all this next time I am tempted.
So, need to improve the water (#storyofmylife) but I had a picky lunch of tuna Mayo, cheese, bacon, salad. Then an awesome celeriac dauphinois, broccoli & sausage for dinner.

Bestbees · 17/02/2021 21:29

Thank you @WitchWand that's kind of you. I think perhaps having such a difficult time then changed me,and in lots of good ways too. Shielding bought back so many memories of when dh had to isolate in hospital and it was almost like it triggered a bit of ptsd in me. But that time together has been broadly healing (with a few arguments and cabin fever too!) if anything positive comes from covid it will be this for us. Maybe many of us can find something good about this challenge. Or not, it could just be total shit!

nowlook · 17/02/2021 21:35

Sorry @Howdidthathappen1, I was half way through waffling on. Here's my go-to list if you stop at a service station or are forced to stay over:

Service station
Cheese
Tuna
Corned beef
Mayo
Chicken skewers
Scotch egg (discard the scotch)
In desperation, bacon sandwich (discard bread)

Service station with an M&S
Satay sticks
Sliced meats
Cocktail sausages
Egg and spinach in a pot
Baby spinach
Ready mixed salad

Other supermarkets
As above plus rotisserie chicken

nowlook · 17/02/2021 21:40

And finally...drive through McDonalds and order a burger without bun and a side salad.

So sorry that there has been such horrible news for so many on this thread ThanksSad

Howdidthathappen1 · 17/02/2021 21:41

Thanks @nowlook! Service station M&S's are a lifesaver! Sometimes its a sitting in my car outside a persons house for hours situation! Water is massively reduced on those days due to nowhere to wee! Actually considering the possibility of a car fridge! Am sure they do make them

nowlook · 17/02/2021 21:44

Yes- that's a problem. I have sometimes had sugar-free dioralyte the next day to rehydrate!!

nowlook · 17/02/2021 21:48

And I really do empathise. I've rarely known despair quite like eating the innards of a soggy cheese savoury sandwich bought from a one-pump petrol station in West Wales.

Jollyholibobs · 17/02/2021 21:52

@nowlook if the decimal point was in a different place I would already own them!

Jollyholibobs · 17/02/2021 21:58

@ChristMyArse sorry for your loss on top of everything else. I am very close to my now adult DD but I recall age 14 being a time when she was very difficult to live with and it caused huge tensions between DH and I. It has passed and I am very proud of how she has turned out. If I’d known that it would get better at the time I think it may have been easier to deal with. Teenagers can be very difficult don’t be too hard on yourself. Hope it gets better for you soon.

AWryGiraffe · 17/02/2021 21:58

Sorry for everyone going through a hard time at the moment. I have a relative who
Is 102, it's so amazing to get to such an age, they must have such stories in their heads. Sorry to those who've lost people recently 😕

My July wedding seems ever closer and I'm trying to let it be more a motivating factor rather than an impatience inducing one. I will be ecstatic if I'm 10'7 by then - that's a stone to go. I'm not doing any cheating, my meals are on plan, but it's difficult when you have a whoosh and then the next day you're a few pounds on and then spend the next week losing it all again 😂

Today was lunch of a 2 egg omelette with garlicky mushrooms, shallots and cheese. Dinner was creamy garlicky cheesy sauce with mushrooms, peppers and cabbage, on celeriac and leek mash.

Really enjoying the celeriac - I'm surprised as it's always seemed singularly unappetising on first glance!

cheeseisthebest · 17/02/2021 22:07

Hi everyone, just catching up, so sorry to hear about the losses. It's such a difficult time isnt it, I do hope we get some positive news next week.
My daughter is 14 this year, shes utterly lovely but I keep expecting it to change.

nowlook · 17/02/2021 22:10

You can do it Giraffe! How lovely to have a wedding to look forward to. Are you going full meringue?

prettybird · 17/02/2021 22:19

A stone to go for July is eminently achievable Wry Thanks

I want to lose a stone by early April for my birthday - sand target weight as you Shock I'd say that that wasn't quite so eminently achievable Wink - but I'm still going to give it a damn good go Grin

I don't think I'll keep both pairs of jeans: don't think I can justify two pairs of velvet jeans. Not at £69 each and when I'd still like to get down in to a Hobbs 10 (if the Hobbs 12 fits now) - in jeans at least (my boobs are definitely not a 10 Wink).

I think we can all vouch for that pretty Grin
ChristMyArse · 17/02/2021 22:33

You lot are all bloody lovely, thank you ❤️ x

Motivateinmotion · 17/02/2021 23:24

Sorry for your losses @AthelstaneTheUnready and @ChristMyArse Flowers

Have been reading and trying to keep up with the thread. No loss as of yet but KOKO and hoping for a whoosh some day. Enjoying this WOE and not craving the biscuits/crisp/chocolate so will keep going with it. Cooked my first ever pork joint for dinner today with the most amazing crackling it was delicious and no longer a celeriac virgin as had celeriac dauphinoise. Plenty of left overs for tomorrow yum! Planning dirty celeriac fries at the weekend.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 17/02/2021 23:49

@ChristMyArse I’m so sorry for your loss.

Justcallmecaptainobvious · 18/02/2021 04:34

Sorry for your losses AthelstaneTheUnready and ChristMyArse, and to those struggling with life one way or another this year. I think most of us are just trying desperately to keep treading water, with tempting glimpses of life beyond lockdown keeping us going. My mum had the vaccine yesterday, and I felt a bit of the stress holding me down fall away.

No recipes to contribute here I’m afraid. I’m rather going in the opposite direction - DH has been summoned back to the office this week, so now I’m trying to juggle cooking with a very clingy three year old, and a baby who has decided he goes to bed at 5.30, which is exactly when I need to be cooking. So quick and easy are my current priorities!

Yesterday’s meals:
B - egg + bacon + butter mashed
L - left over fajita bowls
Snack - ham + egg muffins (hungry day yesterday)
Dinner - sausages and buttery garlicky spring greens + sweet corn

  • too much 90% choc

Not quite enough veg or water recently, need to get on top of it.

CaptainOmelette · 18/02/2021 05:47

@1stMrsF yum I have to try that recipe thanks.
@prettybird both the belt and trousers are gorgeous and what a great victory fitting in the small belt, really easy to see your progression with it.
I’m really wanting a day off from cooking today, simplest recipe I can think of is vegeburgers for kids and chilli burger & salad for me and 6ft 5 husband...he’s the hardest to keep full cheaply and healthily tbh!
Went on a walk in the woods yesterday, think I’ll do a beach walk with dog this morning...now I’m well in to this way of eating I’d like to exercise more, gently.
Happy Thursday everyone.

MarmaladeTeepee · 18/02/2021 06:43

@ChristMyArse what a horrible time you're having Flowers

@Bestbees no I didn't scale down as I'm an idiot and didn't realise it wouldn't all fit in the tin until I'd made it. On the plus side I've kept the remaining mixture in the fridge so that's the DCs tea sorted - I'm thinking either meatballs or burgers.

StuntNun · 18/02/2021 07:10

Howdidthathappen I have a car cool box that plugs into the lighter socket. You have to unplug it when the engine isn't running but it's a proper cool box so it still stays cold for ages with a freezer block in there.

WitchWand · 18/02/2021 07:44

@AWryGiraffe, I agree that it is frustrating that our weight can fluctuate down, up and down again. In the past, I lost patience over that. Now, I'm not. And that's what's made the difference for me.
You've got plenty of time to shift that stone before July if you stick to your plan. Grin

Jollyholibobs · 18/02/2021 07:51

From today I am stopping what has become my habit of late afternoon of standing with my head in the fridge snacking excessively-cheese, Greek yoghurt, nuts and peanut butter. All must stop. It is not hunger. I am gaining weight and at least twice this week have felt uncomfortably full (not mentioning Tuesday’s carb fest).

Plan for the day
L avacado and big salad with posh Mayo which tastes like salt and vinegar crisps and is not recommended.
D miso soup bowl with prawns and ‘cabbage noodles’ will add noodles for DH

DH had vaccine on Tuesday but started feeling flu like yesterday snd is staying in bed today.

WitchWand · 18/02/2021 07:55

@Bestbees It’s great that out of some very hard experiences, good things have come for you and your dh and that you’ve both been able to use ´Covid time ‘ for some healing too. Smile

Some people have really disliked this period of shielding, whereas others have really enjoyed it .

Though I’m aware some people are having it harder than me and have even suffered ill health or worse from Covid, this time has been relatively okay for me. I’ve appreciated being able to use this time to take better care of myself and my body. I’ve also found that I’ve enjoyed the slower pace of life.
