Week 3 - Jan '21 Low Carb Bootcamp - time for Light?

Well thanks to all the chat, I've had to start this week's thread earlier than usual Grin

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to declare all

You now have a choice: you can move on to Bootcamp Light, which means you can re-introduce nuts and seeds, some fruit and alcohol - all in moderation.

However, also bear in mind that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for little or not weight loss and this is nothing to do with moving on to Bootcamp Light. It's just something that seems to happen.

So it's up to you. You can stay on Bootcamp if you wish, or move on to Bootcamp Light, or a hybrid - so you do Bootcamp during the week but relax into Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever you decide - good luck! Here's to a good week ahead.

Thanks @StuntNun magnesium was my thinking behind having avocado for breakfast. I have been sleeping badly the last few nights too which is unusual for me. Have bought a magnesium supplement and taken one today so fingers crossed for a better night.

Thanks for all the Chinese takeaway advice, I managed to persuade them away from Chinese to a much more straightforward Lebanese so had a lovely kebab and salad. Also had my first gin in 3 weeks, just one small one with skinny tonic. Really enjoyed it and was happy to leave it after 1, it felt hard earned after a tough week work-wise.

Happy Friday all Grin

That's so lovely! I grew up near the sea, I miss it!

@prettybird the Russian Dolls are fab!❤️❤️

prettybird · 05/02/2021 23:03

Much cursing was involved Grin I even said in the gift tag that I wished I could say that every stitch was sewn with love but instead a lot of cursing and swearing was involved Grin I get on really well with my SIL Wink just as well Grin

venusandmars · 05/02/2021 23:05

I do some cross-stitch sometimes, but little things - a heart shaped keyring for dh's valentine, or a tiny Christmas tree for the tiny 2020 Christmas tree. between us dh and I have 4 unfinished large tapestries laying around, backed by good intentions and frustrated by increasingly poor eyesight

venusandmars · 05/02/2021 23:07

@prettybird I remember my Mum saying the same about a 'millennium' tapestry she completed. And she rarely swore. except at that overlay stitching

prettybird · 05/02/2021 23:15

Aging eyesight and overlay stitching was definitely an issue. I had to spend hours and hours in the bay window using full sunlight and cursing Hmm

I now understand why my mum bought a daylight embroidery lamp in her 50s Grin must ask dad what happened to it Wink

I'll be going back gratefully to "ordinary" Danish cross-stitch Grin

The weather here in West Yorkshire is most definately pants this weekend, perfect weather for a hearty warming dinner of roast pork and alllll the green veggies! 😄
Not looking forward to when the kids get the cabin fever stage, that’ll teach me to not ask for their wellies when i pick them up from nursery 🙈

Bestbees · 06/02/2021 08:09

Morning all.
@venusandmars very jealous of your sea. We are close to the sea, but it is definitely a drive so we cant go at the moment.

I have dabbled in cross stitch and did a bit in first lock down, but havent had the time this time round.

I enjoyed by food last night and feel pretty bloated this morning, which might be more because I ate a lot than anything else. I had my cocktail, a tiny glass of wine and a gin and soda (much nicer than I had anticipated!)

Plan for today
L bacon, eggs mushrooms and spinach. Might add cream cheese to the veg.

D chicken, spicy cauli cous cous and salad, oily dressing. Berries and cream for pudding.

MaudesMum · 06/02/2021 08:10

Whoever suggested having kimchi with burgers - thank you! Had a lush supper last night of burgers with cheese on top, a bit of bacon and lots of kimchi on the side, and some celeriac chips. Didn't miss a burger bun at all! And a teeny NSV this morning - another pair of jeans now does up! Admittedly there's still too much of me spilling over the edge of said jeans, but they're definitely in sight.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 06/02/2021 08:50

Lovely pic venus Smile.* * One thing I've been immensely grateful for this year is that I get to live with my lovely kids. Home-schooling aside, they just light up my life.

venusandmars · 06/02/2021 08:53

Another grey day here, Housework to do but I'm putting it off reading mumsnet... Will have a walk with dh this afternoon, whatever the weather.

L - creamy coffee, bacon, egg, mushroom, and inspired by bestbees will probably add spinach.
D - meatloaf and salad with avocado salsa

Ninkanink · 06/02/2021 09:03

@AthelstaneTheUnready I just read the thread that solved Boswell!

I’m relieved that there actually was an answer, but still...

Good morning everyone. Currently relaxing in bed with DH, having the first of two creamy coffees, and wish list shopping for my 45th which is coming up in a few months. So many beautiful things to be wanted...must be sensible, must not go too crazy at Georg Jensen!

Food for today: not sure on lunch. Probably a tuna and egg salad. Dinner will be leftover beef stew from the other night, which DH will have with mashed potato and I’ll have roasted cauliflower wedges.

Motivateinmotion · 06/02/2021 09:08

@venusandmars you truly are a fab Gran! What lucky little ones.

@prettybird wow they truly are beautiful, what talent.

The scales aren’t being kind to me this week. Up 3lbs which takes me back to the start of bootcamp so feeling like it was all for nothing. I know this can happen in week 3 but it’s mentally really tough going and finding it hard to motivate to push on.
Plan for today
B- yoghurt and spoon of cream
L- prawns & Mayo with avocado salad
D- chicken thighs and piles of spring greens in butter now I’ve finally found some and broccoli

1 oxo, 2 coffee with almond milk and 3L water

Ninkanink · 06/02/2021 09:14

@Motivateinmotion Flowers focus on the health benefits for now, the lovely food you’re able to have, and on any NSVs. If you’ve not yet got any NSVs, be patient and within a few weeks you will!

It is possible to ‘gain’ whilst actually losing - can’t remember the science, I think @Stuntnun is the one who can explain in greater detail - but essentially the body stores water in the fat cells that are becoming depleted as a temporary measure, and then finally, once it’s sure they’re no longer needed gets rid of the cells altogether. Hence the whoosh effect where the weight will suddenly come back off permanently.

KOKO! Self care and mindful eating in the meantime.

1stMrsF · 06/02/2021 09:16

Good morning! Hope everyone is ok. I've had another few days of reading the thread and constantly being 24hrs behind! Now can't remember what I was going to comment on. Thank you for inspiring me to make meatloaf, that's going into the plan soon. Here are the last few days food in case anyone is interested:
W
L leftover sausage and tomato sauce that the kids had had with pasta but I had over salad leaves
D gammon steaks, fried egg
Th
L lamb keema* with salad leaves and s cucumber and ff yoghurt
D Roast chicken supremes with crispy skin with creamy mushroom sauce, stir fried sprouts and kale
Fr
L - pork ribs and hm coleslaw, cucumber & avocado
D Chicken and prawn jambalaya* made with cauli rice - it was amazing. I've been really resistant to cauli rice but it worked well and made a nice change
The asterisks show recipes from a Simply Cook subscription which I find works for this WOE if you choose carefully or adapt. There is often a spice to add to rice or potatoes that I will used with roasted veg for example.

Sipping herbal tea in bed and then I'll go in search of a coffee and see what the government have leaked to the Telegraph this morning!

prettybird · 06/02/2021 09:20

My Facebook memories today tell me that it is a year since I finished my blanket, 6 years and 4 days after I started it Grin

Seems appropriate that I finished the coordinating cushion this week Smile

We don't get to much room on the sofa any more though as the cats have appropriated it Wink

MarmaladeTeepee · 06/02/2021 09:28

Gorgeous photo venus after growing up in the landlocked west midlands I love living by the sea now. One of my ultimate goals for summer is to feel confident to wear my swimsuit on the beach, in front of everyone I know (we live in a small town) and actually conquer my fear of sea swimming.

Well done pretty you're very talented.

1stMrsF fingers crossed for some good leaks!

I've had a rubbish week this week eating wise, definitely a lot of carb creep which has reflected in the scales. Normally I'm on top of meal planning, food shopping etc but lockdown blues took over this week and all motivation went out the window. Anyway I've given myself a shake and I'm back on it. I picked up some bargain pork ribs yesterday in the massively reduced bit of Tescos does anyone have any good rib recipes?

BustleInYourHedgerow · 06/02/2021 09:44

@Motivateinmotion keep going! Ypu have done so well, it would be such a waste to throw it all away now.

@MarmaladeTeepee You and I have similar goals! I have a very expensive swimming wetsuit that I fit into two stone ago. I really want to start sea swimming again aith a group this summer and I refuse ro spend €300 on a new one. The swimsuit I don't mind I'll get into any body of water one its summer but I loved the safety of swimming in the group.

I'm sorry you're feeling the lockdown blues. It's bloody hard, isn't it. Try to focus on the goal of. The summer and feeling more comfortable whilst in your swimming suit. Hopefully that will help.

Also I am 7km from the sea and our current lockdown is 5k limit. I really miss beach walks and so do my children. We re lucky to have a nice forest walk within that radius but it is so busy at the moment.

Breakfast is Scrambled eggs with some tabasco and buttery spinach.

MarmaladeTeepee · 06/02/2021 10:06

Bustle my fear is completely irrational - I just hate not knowing what's beneath my feet and then my mind turns to sharks and I have to get out as soon as possible which is stupidly ridiculous seeing as we live on the north sea coast 🤦🏼‍♀️. But my children love swimming in the sea and I'm determined to join them this summer. Knowing that I won't look like a beached whale whilst doing it is an added incentive!

BustleInYourHedgerow · 06/02/2021 10:31

Ah that's understandable Marmalade. I thunk once we get in the water our caveman brain thinks : Predator!. But having the children with you is a good deterrent for that!

@cringyminge

Morning all

Really struggling to adjust my mindset. Just cooking breakfast in front of my partner and Fair to say he's horrified the amount of butter I'm using to cook everything - about to eat bacon eggs and mushrooms.

Have faith - it will work!
