Week 3 - Jan '21 Low Carb Bootcamp - time for Light?

BIWI · 31/01/2021 11:40

Well thanks to all the chat, I've had to start this week's thread earlier than usual Grin

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to declare all

You now have a choice: you can move on to Bootcamp Light, which means you can re-introduce nuts and seeds, some fruit and alcohol - all in moderation.

However, also bear in mind that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for little or not weight loss and this is nothing to do with moving on to Bootcamp Light. It's just something that seems to happen.

So it's up to you. You can stay on Bootcamp if you wish, or move on to Bootcamp Light, or a hybrid - so you do Bootcamp during the week but relax into Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever you decide - good luck! Here's to a good week ahead.

@BIWI thank you and thank you to everyone else.
Found out a family members cancer is terminal and there is not much that can be done and to prepare for the worst. He is only 56. Cruel world.

Bestbees · 04/02/2021 13:41

@ListenLinda Flowers I am so sorry to hear that.

@venusandmars interesting.... Its not something I know much about but it is interesting!

@BIWI thanks about water intake.

Just about to break my fast and so ready for it!

ListenLinda · 04/02/2021 13:48

I say only 56. Cancer is awful at any age but i’m sure you all know what I meant. Heads not with it at the mo.

Just had a lunch of a cheese omlette and tenderstem broccoli. Usually with bad news I would be straight at the chocolate/gin/takeaways but dont feel like straying at all.

BIWI · 04/02/2021 13:58

I'm so sorry to hear that news @ListenLinda Sad. 56 is way too young. Hopefully he will get good palliative care.

@ListenLinda 💐so sorry to see this sad news

BustleInYourHedgerow · 04/02/2021 14:22

@pinkpinkeverywhere

Welcome *@BustleInYourHedgerow* My first time doing this WOE (get me with the lingo after 2 1/2 weeks Wink) and I've lost a stone, still got a long way to go, especially as I'm short, but finding this thread very supportive. A good idea people said at the start was to take photos of yourself in something a bit too small and then take them again every so often, so you can see a real life improvement. Also to take your measurements. I've done both and my second photo after 2 weeks already showed the button and hole edging closer together!
Thanks @pinkpinkeverywhere thats a good plan! I have some jeans that are not my friend at the moment, I'll try those!
Almahart · 04/02/2021 14:24

BIWI · 04/02/2021 14:49

@BustleInYourHedgerow you've reminded me that I was going to do a BIG SHOUT OUT TO @pinkpinkeverywhere - a whole stone gone already!

@ListenLinda so sorry to hear that. Flowers

Interesting how knitting and crochet has cropped up on hear today. I resurrected a half knitted cardigan from where it had been languishing in a cupboard yesterday. I echo others comments about the well-being benefits of a knitting project. There’s something comforting about the rhythm possibly.

nowlook · 04/02/2021 15:11

That really is shite news @ListenLinda. I'm so sorry.

StuntNun · 04/02/2021 15:15

That's awful ListenLinda what a shock. Well done for staying on track with your food. It might not seem much right now but you will feel a lot better for it later on.

Lyrata · 04/02/2021 15:17

Yes, crochet is so comforting. When I finish this blanket I might just have to say ‘fuck it’ and start another one. It’s so nice to do - and I like that there’s no stress or fiddling around. It’s just a big simple square! Any tips or recommendations for a project (crochet (beginner level!) or otherwise) would be gratefully received though.

I’d also love any tips for ‘project’ meals or foods. You know, the sort of thing you could spend a good few hours or half a day doing in the same way baking or something takes up time. I’ve already made some pickles (radish and cauliflower) and some fermented Indian lime pickles. I also had a great deal of fun with a cheese making kit last weekend. But any other recommendations for meals or foods that you can really get stuck into making would be awesome.

pinkpinkeverywhere · 04/02/2021 15:20

Thank you @BIWI, my family say they can see the difference. Me and my daughters started C25K in January too and I'm sure not carrying that extra stone is really helping now the runs are getting longer. Also really interesting reading on here that every 1lb you lose is 4lbs less pressure on your joints. I positively skipped round this morning thinking it was 56lbs less pressure on my knees Grin

StuntNun · 04/02/2021 15:46

Lyrata my DS1 makes jerky from thin cut frying steak and random mixtures of spices. It takes three hours in a low oven so it's time consuming but it's lovely warm from the oven.

prettybird · 04/02/2021 15:51

I've been knitting a cushion cover (to match a big Afghan blanket that I finally finished last year after 8 years on the needles over 5 years rolled up semi finished and tangled up ). I'm now at the sewing up stage but I always have to go and look up how to do it neatly Blush

It does help to stop the "boredom" munchies Grin

ChristMyArse · 04/02/2021 15:56

I love crochet and discovered it a couple of months ago.. I can do very basic single and double stitches - that's it. There has been many scarves made and one beanie hat. I'm thinking of doing a blanket for my dad, but think it will look burning just one colour. I love it as it passes the time and I feel successful at the end of it.

@ListenLinda I'm so sorry, thinking of you and yours this afternoon xx 💐

nowlook · 04/02/2021 16:14

I would so wear that as a jumper @prettybird
Looks a lovely eau de nil shade on my screen!

prettybird · 04/02/2021 16:32

It's what I would call I duck egg blue. It took me ages to find the right shade - and eventually found it in a King Cole merino wool, called "Mint" Confused I had the girl from Deramores (in the time when they were small enough to be personal) going and checking it for me before I ordered Grin

I did think it would make a good jumper as I was knitting it - especially as it was done in the round! Smile

ShagMeRiggins · 04/02/2021 16:39

@prettybird

I wonder how many of us had cheeseburger pie this week? Wink
Probably a similar number to those who ate duck last weekend. Wink
prettybird · 04/02/2021 17:01

Grin Shag

Shall I start the coming week's trend? I'm having roast lamb on Saturday night, so Sunday will be cold lamb, Monday Suleman's Pilaf (with cauliflower rice for me), followed by low carb Shepherd's Pie on Tuesday Smile - and if there's any of the mince base left, "bolognaise" on Wednesday (pasts for dh, courgette strips for me)

Ninkanink · 04/02/2021 17:03

@ListenLinda that really is shit. Sad Sad thinking of you and your family. ((hugs, because sometimes that’s all you can do))

I’m one who think cheeseburger pie might not be my thing...however I’ll give it a go at some point just to make sure! If it’s nice at room temp then it could be a good option for easy lunches.

We do our meat buying in bulk from our local farm shop and we’ve just done a three month shop last week, so I have all sorts in my freezer including duck legs, a turkey leg for when I get the impulse to have a mini Christmas dinner sometime in the next month or so (and now I can even have a low carb turkey sandwich with the leftovers!!), and pheasant. I’m having to ration what interesting meals I cook over the next month so that we’re not left with nothing but pork and beef mince for the last month! Grin Not complaining, mind, I know we’re fortunate to be able to stock up like that.

Tonight’s dinner is beef stew with a side of roasted mushrooms, celeriac and Jerusalem artichokes with brown butter.
