Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - last weigh-in!

BIWI · 03/08/2020 07:19

Morning all

Very much looking forward to finding out how everyone has done so here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing

I had hoped, when I started this Bootcamp, that we would have left lockdown properly by now, rather than being in this weird kind of limbo that we find ourselves in. But hopefully it has achieved its objective, of getting us all a bit more focused and healthy, rather than just eating and drinking ourselves to death before the virus could do that!

We will, of course, carry on - I'll keep the thread going and when it's finished, we'll start another one. Just because the ten weeks is up doesn't mean that the diet has ended Grin

Here's to a good result on the scales this morning Flowers

Taking you'd probably find it horribly sweet whereas simple strawberries and cream seems like food of the gods.

Laska2Meryls · 15/08/2020 08:59

Delighted with another pound off despite the fact that we have had family visitors for the last 3 days with all the cooking eating and drinking that entails.. but they have gone now.... I need to refocus (I did keep to LC eating but drank wine every day). I am within a stone of goal now .. would be great if I could be almost there at the start of the next bootcamp Smile

Packingsoapandwater · 15/08/2020 09:46

@StuntNun

Packing the next Bootcamp is in the run up to Christmas but you can start any time and get support here. Check out the Low Carb Bootcamp Rules.

Eggbound I get pins and needles / tingling in my feet if I don't get enough magnesium. Maybe try adding some magnesium-rich foods such as spinach, avocado and yogurt?

Thank you, stuntnun!

I'm now on day 4 and have woken up with a lot of pressure in my head. I feel "wired" and my head isn't very clear.

I'm already two pounds down, which I suspect is water weight. I've been going to the loo loads, and drinking water to ensure I don't get too dehydrated.

I remember when I went paleo, the flu period lasted for about four days.

But what is very noticeable is on the first day of no grains, my breast soreness noticeably decreased. I still have it a bit, but it's not wince territory any more.

Takingontheworld · 15/08/2020 10:23

Packing I didn't get keto flu, despite the fear! But about 2 weeks in or so I got REALLY fuzzy headed and felt headachey. Was horrible! Hope it passes quickly for you!

Have entered a bit of a comp. With my bestie. She is visiting mid sept and is also losing weight. Whoever looses more gets dinner paid for!

13.12 on the scales this AM and altho I'm a bit anxious about dd's birthday upcoming, I'm determined to see more lbs off! I'd love to be 13.8/7by end of month but not sure if 4/5lbs in next 15 days is achievable at this point. We'll see!

Laska2Meryls · 15/08/2020 10:40

I have found that a magnesium citrate tablet washed down with a big glass of water with a few grains of sea salt and large squeeze of fresh lemon or lime and ice.. really helps with fuzzy head Packing

Laska2Meryls · 15/08/2020 10:42

I still get it now sometimes, (especially on days when I do 16:8 ) and it works every time 👍

venusandmars · 15/08/2020 12:27

I'm another who finds that wheat carbs no longer suit my digestion. The last 3 weeks have been awful with house guests, birthdays (mine and several others), meals out, wine. I haven't put on weight really, but the bloating and swollen stomach and gurgling guts... So happy to be back on this woe. The delight of broccoli with butter, salmon hollandaise, a simple avocado with olive oil.

Elderly family member had a REALLY BIG milestone birthday, so I had to have a slice of cake. It had apricot jam in the middle and some kind of sticky, sickly sweet frosted topping. I did not enjoy it at all. When if I reach that age I am going to make everyone eat cheese!

BIWI · 15/08/2020 12:32

Here you go @venusandmars special celebration cake

Mimosa1 · 15/08/2020 18:25

@biwi That cake looks yum!

Well, the worst of the move is over but we only have 1 week to unpack bc the movers want their crates back and we've realised that despite moving to a bigger place, there is almost no storage. We are thinking about having some cabinets made, which will be lovely if it's not ruinously expensive. In the meantime though, stuff is literally piling up!

And in other annoying news, the bathroom floor is somewhat harder than than my slightly springier lino in the old bathroom.. resulting in the scales saying 1kg on! know that it changes nothing to my weight loss in absolute terms but I'm unreasonably cross!

StuntNun · 16/08/2020 13:39

I was craving Eggs Benedict so I decided to make a low carb version with field mushrooms instead of the bread. Very yum!

Hi all. Have only skimmed so need to catch up properly. I had my boob appointment on Friday and am very excited to be booked in 8 September for the surgery. It should only take an hour so I won’t need to stay overnight. I’m a bit worried I will look strange and not like me anymore.

Going to a hotel with H this week for 2 nights while parents have the weans. H says he’s confused and wants us to work but doesn’t want certain aspects of marriage. I know what I want and if he can’t give it I’d rather have nothing. So it’ll be, ummm interesting. I’m mainly going for the breakfasts Grin - menu looks really good; omelette Arnold Bennett and baked eggs and chorizo with roasted tomatoes.

ealingwestmum · 16/08/2020 15:20

Omg @StuntNun; I want a table at your cafe!

Am reading everyone’s progress, successes and lows; just a little preoccupied on education thread dramas right now, and definitely not wanting to bring the politics to you lovely lot ☺️

Mimosa1 · 17/08/2020 07:37

I'm still using this thread to weigh in on a Monday. Down 200g for the week but I've been eating very little over the last few days as the move made food options quite chaotic. Although I've stuck to the woe, it's possible I've eaten too little? Anyway, 200g a week is over 10kg a year so I shouldn't be disappointed.

Takingontheworld · 17/08/2020 11:03

Mimosa i do 16:8 most days and i found i naturally ended up having like a snack at lunch (cucumber and boursin or somthing, a spoonful of nut butter) and then a main meal at 5pm, and that was it... my losses definitely slowed so i had to consciously make a meal at midday and at tea time and that definitely helped.

NoraEphronsneck · 17/08/2020 11:07

I'm still using the spreadsheet too, although haven't logged weight this morning yet.

I've lost just over a pound again this week. So it looks like it will be slow and steady from here on but still going in right direction so can't complain.

This bootcamp has given me the know-how to rein in my eating in future if needed. I have gone from someone who never ever weighed myself to someone who now weighs weekly which gives me a handle on keeping things under control.

Takingontheworld · 17/08/2020 11:12

On that note, I've lost the gain caused by our meal out and another 1lb

2st 1 lb down
X

Hopeislost · 18/08/2020 12:37

The scales say I have put on 3lbs this week. AF is here and I am bloated and HUNGRY! I ate breakfast today for the first time in weeks. My portions have been larger this week but I haven't eaten anything off plan. Hoping it's just hormones and water retention.

Takingontheworld · 18/08/2020 18:25

So I started this May 19th, and my scales weighed me at 15.13.

On may 26th i went to the drs and they weighed me as usual for my contraceptive.

I went again today and whilst I know that they won't completely match up, they were only 2lb heavier than my home ones and basically it said I'd lost 1 st 2lb. Even with a bit of discrepancy, thats quite a big difference of. Stone.

I did feel like i hadn't lost as much as the scales said and i noted someone else on another thread said they'd lost a stone but felt no different either.

This whole time I've felt paranoid that it wasn't real weightloss and todays sort of cemented that.

I'm never going to get there am I? Why is this such hard work Sad

ShagMeRiggins · 18/08/2020 19:54

Sorry, you’ve lost over a stone in less than three months? That’s very healthy weight loss.

Out of curiosity, how much time do you think it would take you to gain a stone? Hmm

Comparison is the thief of joy. You’re doing great. You’ll get there.

As long as you enjoy what you’re eating and don’t feel deprived, keep at it.

ShagMeRiggins · 18/08/2020 19:56

Ps—hey y’all, I’m back from holiday, DRINK ALL YOUR WATER EVERY DAY, and I’ll be in touch soon with some Style Zoom times again (I’m particularly looking at those who missed the first one in lockdown—ahem—Athelatane etc.

Takingontheworld · 19/08/2020 07:18

Honestly i could gain a stone in a month!

My scales show a 2st 1lb loss. Obviously i have deep emotional issues with my weight and this is the furthest I've gotten in losing weight in a decade, so when the nurse was like no you've only lost a stone. Knowing how hard it was to actually make it to the 2st mark only to be told you haven't is pretty gutting.

AWryGiraffe · 19/08/2020 07:41

If you've lost the two stone on your scales, then that's right isn't it, even if the exact number isn't correct? The progress is there? Sorry if I've missed something

It's easy to get impatient - I've been stuck on the same number for a week, come on scales!

StuntNun · 19/08/2020 08:03

Taking I'd go by what your scales say too. The scales at the doctors' office are being used day in, day out so they might not be correctly calibrated. Whereas you would expect yours to be internally consistent across the past few months.

Mimosa1 · 19/08/2020 10:47

@Takingontheworld werenyijr weights consistent btn the May 19th (at home) and May 26th (at the dr)? If yes, it is possible you just had a heavy meal, shoes, clothes, etc. Plus slightly differently calibrated scales vs weighing first thing at home in the buff ? I can fluctuate a lot in one day.

I share your frustration though - the new position of my bathroom scales in hard tiles vs link has meant that it looks like I've put on weight, even though realistically I know I haven't.

It's

MrsKoala · 19/08/2020 16:54

Sorry you’re feeling deflated Taking. I’d ignore the dr scales- I always sick to one set and ignore what the others say. I’ve weighed my yin the morning at mine then been weighed late afternoon at the hospital about 6lb heavier. Just the amount of water I drink must weigh something and I only weigh after I go to the loo.

I’m laying on the bed in my hotel with a very painful stomach ache. I had sushi and an asahi beer for lunch as an off piste treat and within minutes my stomach had bloated and the pains started. I’m sure it’s the beer as I’ve had small amounts of rice before and not had this reaction. I’m pissed off because that was at 1.30 and I’m still in pain and have packed a fitted dress for this evening and I can’t even contemplate dinner while I feel like this. I’m so uncomfortable I can’t even nap! Which is what I came here to do 😡
