Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

I'm not really counting calories either, but will carry on with 16:8 as I know that works for me, having done 5:2 before

NumbsMet · 28/05/2020 07:55

Sorry for not RTFT before asking, I'm in a mad rush trying to get kids sorted before DP leaves for work, but I did have a skim through some of the more recent posts... so are other people feeling sick and struggling to meet 1000 calories? MFP gets cross with me for logging less so I up some numbers just to get it to shut up and track my progress. For me this is day three not day four as I only discovered the boot camp on Saturday so I had my 'last hurrah' on Sunday. If anybody else feels like this too, why does it feel like this?! Basically Grin

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/05/2020 08:09

Slept like a log last night , don’t think I even moved once , feeling so good this morning .
I had got into an awful habit of waking about 20 mins after I had gone to sleep , needing a wee, and thought with the extra water ( I’m trying , and succeeding mostly to drink 3 litres a day ) It would be awful , but no 👍
Slightly over on calories ( 1170 ) but 43g carbs , considering we had a bbq , and a corn cob found it’s way onto my plate , that’s pretty good going
Another beautiful sunny day 🌞 making it easy to drink all the Water ,Water . Water

Ragwort · 28/05/2020 08:13

Really enjoying the 16:8 window of eating and hope I can keep it up.

Brunch was chipolatas with breakfast muffins (Mixed up egg, veg, a little cheese baked in a silicone muffin pan).
Dinner was a picnic combined with a longish walk as our local forest has opened - chicken, salad & hard boiled egg.

I am not obsessing about the calories & carb count, after years and years of following every single diet known I have a rough idea of the calorie value of every food and I believe I am at around the 1000 count each day.

Best thing is stopping the drinking, feeling so much better already and it’s only Day 2 for me.

As always the discussion and meal ideas are really motivating and encouraging- thanks BIWI & others.

devoncreamtea · 28/05/2020 08:14

@NumbsMet Are you feeling otherwise ok? Not having ever struggled to get my calories in, I can’t comment from experience (!!) but if you are a new to low carb high fat perhaps it is an adjustment thing...

Stepharoo78 · 28/05/2020 08:17

I like the 16:8 as well, it's such a simple change that doesn't need much planning - just willpower when it gets to the end. That being said, I ate dinner at 9 last night so nothing for me until 1pm - will be STARVING! However, I have my usual omelette planned for lunch which fills me up. Has anyone got any good low carb fillings for omelettes? So far I've had spinach, ham and artichoke - any good ideas? I'm trying to avoid cheese to keep the calories down but apart from that am open to ideas! Hope you all have a good day.

herecomesthsun · 28/05/2020 08:22

loads of food yesterday, 3 eggs,avocado, fried aubergine with garlic raita, steak and cauliflower/broccoli/mushrooms/asparagus/ few green beans and 4 strawberries. much herb tea and a bit of almond milk in coffee.

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 28/05/2020 08:28

Morning all. Had an awful nights sleep last night, in pain and uncomfortable, and waking what seemed like every five minutes. Gave up and got up early with the kids, so I'm on black coffee now. Only an hour and a half to wait til I can put some cream in it.
DP is still fasto Grin - easiest way to fast for sixteen hours is to sleep for it!!

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 28/05/2020 08:29

Fuck, just remembered we have no cream left! 😱

NumbsMet · 28/05/2020 08:34

@devoncreamtea apart from feeling queasy/nauseous I definitely am not feeling unwell, in fact I slept better last night than I have since my babies were born 😅. I've definitely never struggled to go above calories before, I have about 6st to lose just to be a normal BMI so I'm not one for skimping on food, put it that way 😬. So maybe it's just settling in to the new diet?

BIWI · 28/05/2020 08:35

@Mixitupalot

I’ve ended the day on just over 1000 cals, had tuna salad for lunch & dinner. Need to get to the shops tomorrow. Atm don’t feel hungry or have any cravings, drinking lots of water and even managed a few short runs this week. So far so good.
Sounds good! Flowers

@PrimalLass

Managed to get through first day of the month with no booze and not an outrageous amount of carbs. 1030 cals Eating window 7am-7pm - too long I know but I was up early 40 carbs Sad
Why the sad face? Overall that's a good day! Don't force yourself to IF if it's making the day too hard, especially when you're hitting the targets (an extra 30 calories isn't going to make too much difference)

BIWI · 28/05/2020 08:39

@ThinkAboutItTomorrow

800 calories and 44g carbs today so sticking with it ok.
That's great. Hope you're finding it OK? Try not to go lower than the 800 if you can though.

@Numbsmet

so are other people feeling sick and struggling to meet 1000 calories?

The feeling sick part could just be an adjustment to low carbing. But how are you struggling to meet 1000 calories? What have you been eating?

OP posts:
prettybird · 28/05/2020 08:41

Good news is that I'm now only waking up once during the night. Smile

...and it looks like I've dropped 4lb already! ShockSmile

If I could get into the 11st somethings by the end of this first week, I'd be happy to lose a more sustainable and realistic an average of 1lb (or less) the following 4 weeks.

prettybird · 28/05/2020 08:42

Missed out that it was waking up once during the night to go for a pee Blush

BIWI · 28/05/2020 08:45

@Stepharoo78

How about mushrooms? Very low in carbs and calories, but also very good for you. Lots of vitamin D and B vitamins in them.

devoncreamtea · 28/05/2020 08:46

Morning campers!
Bad night here too @BeyondDreams woke up at 3 and never got back to sleep! Feel rubbish now. Plan for today is
Usual breakfast/brunch of scrambled egg, kimchi - my avo isn’t ripe so mushrooms instead.
L tuna salad - didn’t eat lunch yesterday as not hungry though
D bun less burger in a lettuce wrap with gherkin, tomato slice and jalapeño. Salad too.

Mfp says this is 953 cal and 18g carbs.

Freetodowhatiwant · 28/05/2020 08:50

My first day was Tuesday (as I forgot on Monday) but already I think I’ve lost 2-3 lbs which is great! I know I probably shouldn’t be weighing myself but it’s just a guide and my scales are in kilos so I’m not sure of the exact poundage. I was really hungry on day one but I’m doing much better now with hunger and it’s so nice to see results! Low carb has always worked for me but I definitely needed this extra boost as I had done a couple of weeks of low carb and 1200 cal on MFP and not seen much of a budge. Off to have a cup of herbal tea and maybe do an online exercise thingy. Hope we all have a successful day!

Laska2Meryls · 28/05/2020 08:52

I have been having mushrooms and a couple of small slices of smoked salmon in my eggs, ( not expensive, I buy the small 'mixed slices/ trimmings) packs from the co op which are 2 for £4. one pack will do done 3 omlettes
Just a small bit of smoked salmon really makes a difference !

PrimalLass · 28/05/2020 08:53
@PrimalLass don't pull a sad face, that was perfect!
Unfortunately 40 carbs is too high for me to lose weight. Hypothyroid. I made a couple of bad choices. But not the usual carb-fest of TOTM.

Laska2Meryls · 28/05/2020 08:53

Im on coffee though until midday ! ( Hungry this morning , have already glugged 3 glasses of water )

BIWI · 28/05/2020 08:56

@Freetodowhatiwant

I know I probably shouldn’t be weighing myself

It's entirely up to you how often you weigh. I was going to post about this today anyway!

OP posts:
BIWI · 28/05/2020 09:00

Weighing - how often?

It's entirely up to you how often you weigh. Some people prefer to weigh daily - I know for me that this keeps me on track. When I stop the daily weighing it's a sure sign that i'm going off piste!

However, your body weight does fluctuate daily, quite normally, so you do need to be prepared to see no loss or even a gain, every now and then. Psychologically this can be hard, especially if you know you've been sticking to the plan.

If you can't cope with that, then it's best to move to weekly weighing.

Recording a weekly result

If you're weighing daily, then there are different options.

 1. on Monday, you record that morning's weight

or

 1. you take an average for the week and record that

or

 1. you record the lowest weight you've achieved through the week

NB weighing should always be done first thing in the morning, naked* and after you've been to the loo

*unless you're weighing somewhere like Boots

@BIWI for my first meal yesterday I had salad which was a few slices of turkey ham with lettuce and tzaziki. Then for my night time meal I had chicken legs with harissa marinade and more salad with hummus, tzaziki, a tbsp of ketchup and tbsp of salad cream. I put enough on the plate to come up to just under 1000 calories, but I couldn't eat more than half of it in the end because I felt so sick. To be honest, if I could have a piece of toast with butter I don't think I would feel sick so my guess is it's some kind of carb craving, so I thought maybe lots of other people might feel the same? Either that or I'm doing something wrong Blush
