Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

@BIWI thanks for reposting that about carb flu - I was scrolling and scrolling and couldn't find it (lots of activity on this thread which is fab!)

I am prone to headaches anyway, especially when hungry, so just need to manage my eating window well, drink lots of water and herbal tea, make sure I have plenty of salt (NOT a problem and glad to have an excuse Grin) and try to minimise the stress levels. Month end at work is always off the scale with stress so I am in the middle of it now. Next week should be better!

Just had a nice creamy coffee and about to have lunch shortly.

Not going to weigh myself til Monday - hoping for a nice surprise

Hope everyone has a great day.

Ninkanink · 27/05/2020 13:07

So, as I had half expected calorie counting is really not conducive to a positive frame of mind for me.

I’m going to take a day out to figure out what I want to do and maybe start bootcamp ordinaire from tomorrow.

PrimalLass · 27/05/2020 13:18

OMG I've just realised we can 'quote'. Welcome to 2020, Mumsnet!

JustFrigginNameChange · 27/05/2020 13:21

Jesus christ - this headache is something Shock

Notlostjustexploring · 27/05/2020 13:23

I have a bit of a question for the long time successful among you. Having measured various parts of myself (and cried - my waist measurement is what my hip measurements were ten years ago), I'm definitely aiming at inch loss. What was the deflation like, especially on arms and torso? I think I've put in so much weight in the last two months I'm a bit afraid of what will happen if/when successful. Does it all catch up with itself eventually? I'm assuming the low carb helps with that?

I'm sorry to hear that - why not just go straight to Bootcamp now?

@JustFrigginNameChange

Have you read the bit about carb flu I posted earlier? The most important thing you need right now is salt - but also see if you can sort out your electrolytes.

And take some paracetamol. Hope you're feeling better soon

Hi everyone,

Quite a good Day 3 for me so far. 5km walk and a 5km bike ride this morning and then a busy day at home. I did feel quite hungry after my walk but managed to hold out until 11am.

I had a sneaky look at the scales this morning but will probably ignore them now until Monday. Just thinking about dinner now, broccoli beef perhaps with cauliflower rice.

Loving all the chat, very motivational and I am quite pleased to have the time to keep up with it this time. Usually work and life is just too busy.

Ninkanink · 27/05/2020 13:54

BIWI I don’t want to commit to it unless I’m actually going to stick to it. I’m not in the right headspace today so I’m going to park it and see how I feel tomorrow.

devoncreamtea · 27/05/2020 13:55

@Ninkanink I don’t like the counting either so you’re not alone! I have added up the cals but if I feel hungry or droopy I’m going to eat something extra to help - maybe pork rinds or cheese. The feeling of deprivation is triggering for me. Bootcampus Ordinarius is ace for overcoming those kinds of triggers. Flowers

devoncreamtea · 27/05/2020 13:57

Soz @Ninkanink cross posted with you. Hope today off is helpful Flowers

Iamnotacerealkiller · 27/05/2020 14:01

Phew! Finally read the whole thread ☺. Some of you may remember me from previous bootcamp. I'm the one who seems to be constantly pregnant or breastfeeding.

Sure enough dd arrived in the middle of last bootcamp and now bf. I won't post what I'm eating as I won't be following the rules exactly and don't want to confuse people. I have however lost 3lb in two days.

I will mostly be lurking as typing one handed is a pain but will be watching and supporting from the sidelines x

ExShield · 27/05/2020 14:04

Hello all! Has anyone had an upset tum? I could, to quote, “shit through the eye of a needle.”
I had salad twice yesterday so presumably my body is shocked into ejecting everything.

I’m not doing the counting of anything. I just can’t go there again. If I’m honest, I’m even finding the calorie discussions quite distressing. I completely realise this is my ‘thing’ though, and I wouldn’t even have said anything except I’ve noticed a couple of others mentioning it, so thought it was worth saying ‘it not just you’. I’m guessing in my case, 3 decades of calorie counting has wrecked any hope of a relationship with MFP or its ilk. I’m not complaining, and I’m not expecting anyone to change for me!

It’s maybe worth saying though that without counting anything I lost 80 lbs on LCFH three years ago, and apart from this lockdown 12 that has appeared on my lazy arse, have had an absolutely stable weight since. So even if you can’t/won’t calorie count, this WORKS. As I’m committed to being here, I’m avoiding reading most of the posts this week, and simply popping on to update a couple of times a day. I’m doing strict bootcamp, and will do for the next three weeks at least.

devoncreamtea · 27/05/2020 14:19

That is so inspiring @ilovecherries 🙂 Have you been Lchf ever since the beginning, or did you have time not low carbing? 80lbs is phenomenal - well done! Flowers

I think it comes down to genetics, skin condition and luck if I’m honest. I was 59 when I lost 80lbs, and my skin was remarkably forgiving. It itched a LOT and I went through buckets of moisturiser, but it probably doesn’t look much different from any other 62 year old woman now. I think you have every reason to be hopeful.
AthelstaneTheUnready · 27/05/2020 14:35

cherries, I think I may keep calories to myself - I'll still know what I'm up to on MFP without having to broadcast it, and it's only another 5 days Flowers

SquishyBones · 27/05/2020 14:35

Anyone testing their wee for keystones?

SquishyBones · 27/05/2020 14:35

Ketones even

prettybird · 27/05/2020 14:38

I'm not calorie counting per se at the moment - not even going to download the MFP app (had it on my old iPod which predates me getting a smart phone and before I "found" Boot Camp).

But I am finding the concept of restricting calories for this special Exiting Lockdown BootCamp quite useful to get me back into the Zone until the ketogenic adaption kicks back in as it helps motivate me not to have that "extra" slice of cheese or to snack on slices of butter just yet Smile

venusandmars · 27/05/2020 14:39

@squishybones Keystones would indeed be worrying and I imagine painful to pass.
Could be decorative though...

😂😂😂

BIWI · 27/05/2020 14:43

I'm sorry if the calorie counting is triggering for people Sad

I did think hard before introducing it this time - and as I've said right from the beginning, it's NOT compulsory.

But the intention behind it is exactly as @prettybird says - to help us get back in the zone, as well as to consider how much we're actually putting our plate.

*If you're finding it triggering in any way, please don't do it, and move to Bootcamp 'ordinaire' instead.

I'm beginning to wish I'd never suggested it as I'd also forgotten how much of a faff the whole thing is

Yes, bootcamp was a last chance saloon. It popped up on trending the Sunday night before it started, and I joined on impulse and. decided I would give it 10 weeks, and if I could lose 10lbs, then I’d stick with it, and if not it was gastric bypass time. I was desperate. In the 10 weeks I’d lost 21lbs, so I just keep on going. I had surgery for something else last year and was quite unwell for a couple of weeks, so it lapsed a bit, and I put on 6/7 lbs but once I was better, straight back on it.
CalendulaAndRoses · 27/05/2020 14:46

@Ninkanink (and others) I'm not counting calories either. Can't go there and don't want to. Haven't downloaded MFP either and the only place I am writing what I eat is here as I can't/won't do food diaries either. I'm keeping a close eye on the obsessional side of things. What I love about LCHF is the ability to not count, add, obsess but rather just eat good food and plenty of it and re-educate my palate away from the crap. I hope you feel better and the day out does you good.

And BTW I completely understand the reasoning behind the counting in this week for those who want to/can, and it makes perfect sense. I am definitely trying to be a bit more mindful of my portion sizes, but not to any level that could possibly be construed as "deprivation" as that'll set me right on edge.
