We've reached the end of the Low Carb Bootcamp so how did you do overall? Add your weigh-in to the Spreadsheet and let us know your plans. Would you like to keep losing weight over the coming week and months? Are you thinking about giving weight maintenance a go? Have you considered introducing intermittent fasting? This thread will continue until the next Bootcamp starts so there will be plenty of support for you.

I've sorted a meal plan, rummaged through my cupboards and freezer and I've got another weeks worth of food. I'll just substitute when the kids have chicken pie and have an omelette instead. I have loads of eggs, my stepdad popped into a farm shop while he was out in the van with work a couple of weeks ago and got me a massive tray of eggs and a big bag of potatoes. So if all else fails, I have chips and egg for the kids.
I've been really lucky that the school has been running a food bank and delivering, but as its half term they aren't open.
So I don't need to worry about shopping for now. I'll probably go Wednesday, I get paid child benefit Tuesday's so I'll have some cash for a taxi home.

DietChic · 10/04/2020 20:46

Omelettes are brilliant for cheap, healthy filling fast food.

Glad it’s semi sorted itself out.

venusandmars · 11/04/2020 18:13

Not important in the scheme of things but the +6lbs is now +8lbs

Sunny day so I put my shorts on to go in the garden. On holiday in February they fitted perfectly. Not now. And look at that muffin top! Posting for accountability so I can have some improved photos as summer approaches.

Back to boot camp right now.
B - left over veg with fried egg
L - mackeral pate and salad
D - steak with FLGV

venusandmars · 12/04/2020 09:10

Food today:
Brunch - scrambled eggs, fried mushrooms, crispy pancetta
D - slow cooked duck leg, buttered cabbage, green beans roast with garlic, followed by cheese with celery and cucumber.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/04/2020 12:44

oh Carbyless, what a worry Flowers. Are they going to do any more tests to see if they can find out what the trigger was?

Aww Venus, they'll go again. I'll join you on the self-inflicted bench.

not acknowledging I've put on another lb since Thursday

Trying to do this properly, but seriously, the lack of day to day pottering about has made a massive difference to the amount of food I need, whilst not affecting at all the amount of food I want.

Did a load of batch cooking yesterday - cottage pie with celeriac mash, and a vat of mushroom/heart/bacon stew. The local shop had plenty of leeks and broccoli, so that's the menu for the rest of the week.

(And that lettuce? I didn't do anything at all with it. Just bit pieces off every time I opened the fridge for something, and it got used up all by itself).

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/04/2020 12:45

*the rest of it

ShagMeRiggins · 12/04/2020 14:37

Happy Easter everyone.

Here’s my own shorts photo. These haven’t fit me for approximately 15 years, possibly more. There was a time I couldn’t get them past my thighs.

The goal is to be in them, zipped, before July. Grin

Ps—I seem to be maintaining okay, give or take a pound up/pound down scenario.

Weirdly, what’s really lacking is the water, which astonishes me given this heat. I’m usually so good about it but the last few months indicate I really need to return to my previous system to ensure proper daily intake. Sigh. Where’s that empty two litre bottle of Diet Pepsi gone...?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/04/2020 18:13

heat? Confused

a steamy 11 degrees here today, with frost due tomorrow and Tuesday night. Have still been sitting out with a glass of wine < I KNOW>, because despite the threatening drizzle, it's actually comparatively warm for here. Have just lit the fire, and may take off my second fleece later [wunk]

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/04/2020 18:13

wink!

bloody hell

Wink

wink

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/04/2020 18:13

At least the 'a' isn't next to the 'i' on the keyboard.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/04/2020 18:26

Nice looking skin, btw. Grin v. smooth.

Xenia · 12/04/2020 19:41

I might join in as I would like to lose a stone by the summer and have been eating pretty much like this anyway for a week or two. Today we had lovely duck breasts mmmmm.

I know it is a very hard time for lots of people. On the mention of skipping on the earlier pages of this thread this video has some of the songs our school used for group skipping (even though it is a decade before I was skipping at school) although I remember not often being able to join in or being asked to probably because I was one of only about 2 in the class who went home for lunch (as did my father) until I was 10 so I just remember the songs more than actually being in the skipping games most of the time. It is very god exercise which is one reason boxers do it for training. Mind you all my sons have roped me not so far in lockdown is croquet (and I do my usual stretches/yoga in the sun in the garden for short periods). For me losing weight is often more about the food than moving although moving is very good for us all.

Everyone seems to be doing very well.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/04/2020 21:10

Hi, Xenia, you're very welcome!

As handed down by my Granny from her Granny... food is for size, exercise is for shape.

And that's before we start on Byron and his bloody potatoes and vinegar.

I do find the stretches/yoga type stuff much better for my sense of wellbeing than any violent exertions though. Still love Callanetics, and it's the one thing I don't mind getting down on the floor for.

DietChic · 13/04/2020 09:14

Happy Monday all - I will admit I fell on an Easter egg and associated chocolate yesterday - up 1lb this morning but thought the damage would be worse as in MFP it was about 180g carb. EEK.

Anyway. ONWARDS. I am going to do a fast day today to try to alleviate the damage anyway.

Omelette for lunch, steak and salad for dinner planned.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 13/04/2020 09:54

Morning all, just caught up with the thread. I hope your all doing okay and that your husband is okay carby. Glad that your also okay shagme

We are all okay, but I gained 3 pounds since end of boot camp so I am definitely on for a mini camp. My daughter is very vulnerable and so we have been shielding her, so only doing online food shopping about every 10 days, we already had a milk man and an Oddbox delivery, it’s working well, but I am concerned that the pounds are creeping on. I am going out for a walk, but with no gym etc it’s not the same. Interestingly husband bought a skipping rope yesterday, so will have a go.

Does everyone s days revolve around food? I’ve even made sourdough, I don’t eat it myself, but am enjoying feeding the starter a bit like a strange pet. Interestingly I have not done much baking, which is probably a good thing.

Anyway today
B total Greek yogurt & 2 coffees
L eggs and coleslaw
D leftover lamb curried with buttery veg

Xenia · 13/04/2020 10:53

All sounds good to eat. I am still working (I work from home anyway) and my student sons are home for university holiday (although probably not back next term which starts on 20 April either and will do finals etc remotely but we shall see - they buy and cook their own food and have for years so it is pretty simple for us all. So as they sleep most mornings (and go to bed very late) not much food around in the mornings. I try to have a long intermittent fast which works for me. I am actually in week 6 now of losing weight, about a pound a week so slow going but I know it works for me. I have my son's steak for later which he says he has gone off suddenly and it also goes off today so that's that sorted out. I hope the stake itself hasn't "gone off" - I will check it carefully.

My son wanted to do baking and is cross that in January I went through every single kitchen cupboard and threw everything out beyond its dates when they went back to university although his twin says it is nice not to have such full cupboards so you can't win. Anyway the flour went which he says could have lasted til now and he cannot get any now. He has always liked baking. Never mind.

Only one of my twins (they are 21 and the youngest and only ones at home now) wanted an Easter egg and he eats a tiny piece a day for weeks and always has done so not a huge amount of chocolate around or anything tempting.

Myfuckingfreezer · 13/04/2020 11:30

I would love a mini bootcamp. Have somehow completely missed this despite low-carbing since christmas and being on the other weight loss threads!

Have lost 35 pounds in that time but my weight loss has now plateaued and I know its because I'm eating more 'hidden carbs'. Have had to move back in with parents for lock down (long story) and feel a bit out of control of my diet!

Am now reading back over all the bootcamp threads to learn more!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 13/04/2020 11:38

See? Excessive household cleaning/tidying is always a mistake Grin Much better to potter around in the garden instead.

Not had steak in ages as haven't been to local* butcher in nearly two months now, for one reason or another.

  • local = 12 miles down the valley, so have to REALLY want to go.

However, lovely neighbour from further down the river has just dropped off a load of freshly-laid eggs, so it might not be a bad idea to fully re-start BC with a few days of semi-eggfast. Have lots of leeks and cheese, so will have a look into baked dishes of some sort.

Are you used to WFH full-time Xenia? I did for 1 or 2 days a week, but am finding it very hard to adjust to every day. Not sure what I need to change to make it feel more 'usual'.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 13/04/2020 11:42

Hello freezer! As I've found over the last few months, it doesn't take much of a raise in carbs to nullify the whole exercise. Getting really strict about it for a short period absolutely helps reset your approach.

Xenia · 13/04/2020 19:58

The steak was lovely, so no issue over it being off.
Yes, I began working from the house full time in 1994 (!!!) so had lots of practice. I used to be out all the time though for client meetings, business trips abroad, giving 50 day courses a year etc etc but resigned committees about 2 years ago and the talks and try to avoid meetings. It is a bit weird -a s if 2 years ago I decided to do social distancing (for work anyway) which worked well for me as I had got fed up with business travel and pointless committee meetings to practise where we now are in lock down. I only caught 2 colds in the last 2 years too (both from my sons living here) so it definitely works in terms of stopping germs travelling. No commuting, crushed under ground trains etc.

Today the steak was lovely. Food was fine but I am trying to lose weight over a year so it is going to be a long haul........

AthelstaneTheUnready · 13/04/2020 20:39

Hooray for the steak. Fried in lots of butter, naturally.

Since 1994 sounds like it certainly suits you then. When my husband became ill I gave up my job (involved being out of the country 3 weeks out of 4) for work I could do from home - consultancy for the bills, and gardening for the love of it - but after about 5 years I started to miss the joint-endeavor feel of an office.

I like my current colleagues and am very much looking forward to seeing them again. For about an hour - I'm still an introvert.

Food today was compliant, with the usual caveat...:
B: just coffee
L: left over bits of roast chicken
D: huge pile of mushrooms fried in butter, last of the bacon, leeks, topped with two fried eggs

Very much a day for using up the last of the disintegrating items in the fridge, and not so much a day for channeling Ducasse.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/04/2020 11:52

A lb off! A lb off!

Finally stopped heading up and starting heading down.

Thank gawd.

Xenia · 14/04/2020 12:14

Well done on the pound off and heading downwards.

My student sons are going to use left overs - they go to the shop once a week on Thursday night but seem to have enough in until then.
I did my steak in olive oil as despite having some cheese my body isn't very keen on dairy product which can make my nose run so I didn't use butter.

I keep seeing people in the press either dead or just released alive with covid 19 and so many (of those in the press anyway) seem to be over weight I suspect now is one of the best times and motivations for people to get thinner.

Lose weight and save the NHS.
Lose weight and save your life.

venusandmars · 14/04/2020 12:25

Food choices have been much better, but I have to kick the lockdown wine habit that has taken hold. It's my Achilles heel and needs to be sorted pronto!

B - coffee with cream
L - left over veg (broccoli, cabbage, beans) with left over salmon
D - omelette with shallots, peppers, courgette and cheese
