We've reached the end of the Low Carb Bootcamp so how did you do overall? Add your weigh-in to the Spreadsheet and let us know your plans. Would you like to keep losing weight over the coming week and months? Are you thinking about giving weight maintenance a go? Have you considered introducing intermittent fasting? This thread will continue until the next Bootcamp starts so there will be plenty of support for you.

I will let you know how it tastes moleeye, post a pic of yours.

Oh ilovecherries, it’s a difficult time isn’t it. Staying on track for 3 years is a huge achievement and there’s no just about any of this - these are extraordinary times.

SophieRay · 22/04/2020 10:39

That flan does look good Rshard. Can totally relate to the Pac-Man reference moleeye, that's exactly what I have been like since lockdown started - fresh start today though, trying to focus on leaving lockdown looking amazing. Ok so maybe amazing is setting the bar too high - better than I look now anyway! Weighed this morning at 13 stone 1 which really surprised me as I was expecting about 13 stone 7.

Pepperami and baby bells for breakfast and working my way through the first litre of water Smile

venusandmars · 22/04/2020 10:55

Ah, I'd forgotten about the water!

B - avocado
L - broccoli and blue cheese soup; egg and salad
D - salmon, spinach, tomato
and water, water, water!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/04/2020 12:05

Hi, Moleeye - I've been eating more than normal, and what I've found in the last week is that if I take a walk before dinner (marking the end of the working day) I'm actually a lot less hungry and so not over-eating. Could be worth a try?

Brassica Grin I too bought a couple of boxes just before lockdown, and promptly drank the lot. Lesson learnt: I have zero willpower so best not rely on it. I have not bought anymore since.

Which you'd think would work, but I have taken to drinking a glass of Benedictine after dinner, as that's all that's left Blush.

Hi, Sophie! Another starter-over here.

Cherries, I think it would odder if people just carried on reacting as normal despite being stuck in the house as a pandemic spreads. I mean, really, these are unusual times. Order some sprouting seeds and lettuce seeds - can be grown for green stuff and only take 5-10 days to come up in a box in the kitchen. Could help bridge the gap when you're staring at your 15th potato.

I think I may have lost another lb, but am starting to look awful around the middle so not reflected in the mirror yet.

ShagMeRiggins · 22/04/2020 16:42

Hey y’all. Sorry to hear so many are struggling, pleased to see so many getting back on it, and inspired by those still in it and losing.

I’m fine. A pound up a pound down, slowly slowly and staying on track. If I come out if this at the same weight I started, I’ll be happy. For me, near daily weighing has been key, but I know that doesn’t work for everyone.

Find something that works to remind yourselves of why you did this, what you want from it, and—this is important—if for you it’s just another form of to-yo dieting or if it really is a lifelong way of eating (not bootcamp strictness, but LCHF generally).

That’s what gets me through. I eat LCHF. That’s it. That’s my thing. I might have a burrito or a samosa or an amaretti biscuit from time to time, but it’s rare and it’s not my usual eating pattern.

So just ask yourselves “how do I eat?” “What do I eat?” “Am I tempted, obsessed, or merely bored?” “What can I change to make this feeling/panic/temptation go away?”

And always, always...WATER! WATER! WATER! We cannot survive, let alone thrive, without it. Flowers

BrassicaBabe · 22/04/2020 17:28

"Pac-Man". Grin Love that. That was me on Saturday!!

Burgers and coleslaw again today. Made loads yesterday so repeating.

Finding this week pretty easy. Busy enough with work, kids happy, decent motivation for exercise etc which adds up to a "on plan" for me. I need to make plans this time for the weekend as bases on the past two weekends is when the wheels fall off.

Rshard · 22/04/2020 20:31

The flan was lovely, thanks again BIWI for the recipe. How did yours turn out moleeye?

Hope everyone has had a good day?

moleeye · 23/04/2020 05:34

Didn't get around to it @Rshard hoping to find the time today....!

moleeye · 23/04/2020 08:06

Got my arse in gear and baked it already!

Bacon, mushroom and leek with fresh chives. House smells amazing and my 5 year old keeps walking past and sniffing it, will have to keep an eye on her!

Having it for lunch with a big green salad. Looks like everyone wants a slice...

Rshard · 23/04/2020 08:16

Looks gorgeous moleeye! Dh has eaten half of the one in made 😂

ilovecherries · 23/04/2020 08:46

I’m going to hang around with you guys again. This had become so much just how I ate for a long time that I had reached the stage where I didn’t need to talk about it, or give it much thought really. But I can feel old diet mentality creeping back in and I’m holding on by my fingernails through will power alone. Partly really worried about my parents, who are nearly 90 and live over 200 miles away, and only have me. They are healthy, both mentally and physically, but at that age everything feels finely balanced. Partly worried about DD - who is unfailingly good humoured, working from home and is generally a pleasure to be around, but vulnerable with her health, so we are locking down pretty strictly for her. Partly struggling with food options - not quantity, Just the fact that everything needs planned 7 days in advance. And partly boredom and then guilt because as the frothers say, all I’m actually being asked to do ‘is sit on the fucking sofa’. So I need so bootcamp normality and accountability :)

AthelstaneTheUnready · 23/04/2020 08:55

Blimey, I'm still in pj's, moleeye.

I've been eggless for a bit now, but reluctant to trip down to the butcher just to pick up more.

Cherries, dump the willpower, it's shit Grin. Hang on to us instead, and lots of soothing talk about sprouts, cabbage, butter and broccoli. What's the plan for today?

I have an odd assortment from freezer and whatever veg the local shop had:

B: coffee
L: baked salmon and iceberg lettuce (fecking AGAIN. That shop's obsessed with iceberg)
D: probably the rest of the salmon, with leeks, lemon, butter, and whatever herbs look choppable from the garden.

ilovecherries · 23/04/2020 10:58

Yes, you are certainly better than willpower! I’d kill for some broccoli or cabbage though. Today I’m going to have

Breakfast: coffee
Lunch: veg soup - will be carrier than I want because of vast amounts of parsnips, onions and carrots that came in the veg box, but needs must
Dinner: I’ve made burgers, so will have these with salad.

I am also, just as importantly, going to stay away from the COVID topics as some of the posts are beyond batshit and can’t be good for anyone’s mental health. I will hunker down here.

SophieRay · 23/04/2020 10:59

Morning Smile. I must post daily or I quickly lose my way on my own and didn't last night because I went to bed really early because I was fed up and thought I'd feel better in the morning - but it didn't work because I don't!

But anyway yesterday was baby bel and pepperami for breakfast, cheese omelette for lunch and sausages for dinner. Had two litres of water, should've been three but still not a bad effort.

I am aware of the distinct lack of veg, but went to the supermarket last night and got a load in so should be ok with that now for a week. Hope everyone has a good day

SophieRay · 23/04/2020 13:33

And I've just put an onion in my bolognese before realising it is on the red veg list 🤦🏻‍♀️. This has annoyed me far more than it should.

I'd forgotten how quick I get full with these types of food, couldn't finish my lunch whereas I've been eating lunch then looking for something else to then eat all through lockdown so far. That's definitely one thing i like about this WOE not thinking about food constantly and not feeling hungry between meals Smile

BrassicaBabe · 23/04/2020 14:34

Cherries I agree. Bunker down here. The rest of MN is stark raving bonkers!!

Can anyone point me in the direction of the crustless quiche recipe?

ShagMeRiggins · 23/04/2020 15:15

ilovecherries we are so much more fun than the COVID crowd. Sorry to hear you’re struggling and also concerned for your family. It’s totally normal. Just feel what you need to feel. Then come have a break over here.

I haven’t seen @BIWI or @StuntNun lately. Y’all okay? Others I haven’t seen as well but since they’ve basically invented Bootcamp I thought a shout out was in order.

Last night we got takeaway from our local pub, which specialises in Greek/Cypriot food. M God, the pork meatballs as a starter, grilled halloumi, lamb souvlaki with a fresh Greek salad, tzaziki. All fresh and amazing. Trying to help keep them afloat because they took over only a year ago and have done great things with the pub, the whole village is grateful!

I did eat two teensy pieces of pita, didn’t touch the tray of chips even though I really wanted a truffle mayonnaise delivery system (yeah I know, nothing says Greek like truffles...erm), and very wisely ordered 4 baklava for the family, not a piece for me.

Anyway, just a reminder that Greek salad is lchf friendly, perfect in this weather, can be made in a big bowl and be a “go to” during the week.

I’m making one tomorrow with Nigella’s recipe which uses fennel instead of cucumber. Will report back.

Also, can’t remember the onion in spag sauce—was that Sophie?—don’t sweat it. Your portion of the o stall is unlikely to do any damage.

This isn’t about deprivation, it isn’t about carb counting (which is no better mentally than calorie counting, really), this isn’t about anything other than lower carb intake from nutritious sources (FLGV mostly), enjoying food, and steadily losing weight.

I can’t say this often enough—and I know some dip in and out of LCHF to lose that last stone or whatever—but this is a way of eating.. Strict Bootcamp isn’t, but LCHF most definitely is.

WATER!!!!!

ShagMeRiggins · 23/04/2020 15:19

Also, my eldest son spent a good 10 minutes eating his baked baguette sandwich over a plate while standing and looming over me in the kitchen this afternoon.

Get out of the doorway, get out of my way, and sit down to eat like a normal person, you fucking Neanderthal. Hmm Grin #lockdown

Rshard · 23/04/2020 15:24

I love Greek salad shagme and as you say perfect in this weather. That takeaway sounds amazing!

Agree that MN is proper bonkers at the moment!

Planning a bbq for Saturday night, perfect for this woe. Especially now dh is doing it too, he’s most about 10lbs so far

BIWI · 23/04/2020 15:38

Thanks for the shoutout @ShagMeRiggins!

I'm here still. But 'enjoying' lockdown rather too much - as the scales will attest and my liver will surely agree Confused

Not really in the right mental space to think about doing the next Bootcamp, although I have been considering a sort of short, sharp 'Lockdown Bootcamp' - two really strict weeks before we're eased out of lockdown. The problem is, I just don't feel like being strict myself!

BIWI · 23/04/2020 15:38

... and of course, nor do we have any idea when lockdown will come to an end, or how it will be ended.

ShagMeRiggins · 23/04/2020 16:17

No pressure, BIWI. Just nice to say hi.

I can imagine that, being retired etc, lockdown and good weather can be not that horrible in some ways.

You do you (sooo American, sozz), and we all need to take responsibility for our participation in this group and for our decision to eat LCHF. Gin

ShagMeRiggins · 23/04/2020 16:24

Our food plans for the next few days involve:

Tonight - leftovers or jacket potatoes for the youngsters

Tomorrow - gammon steaks, scalloped potatoes using celeriac instead, FLGV

Saturday - cheese & broth fondue and Raclette with various meat, cheese, and veg

All can be LCHF friendly.

Lunches will be the usual Greek salad or tuna mayo on lettuce of some sort. Bouillon for the occasional electrolyte rebalance, and snacks of hard boiled eggs with truffle mayonnaise if necessary, or a chunk of cheese, or celery and tzaziki.

I’m planning to make soups this weekend. A chicken and veg, a new recipe for courgette soup because we have loads to use, and a butternut squash for the family.

There’s a lot available out there. I’ve become very creative with my shopping and meal
Planning. Ultimately the biggest challenge is getting over myself and eating what’s perfectly on plan but “not what I fancy.” So spoilt. An eye opener.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 23/04/2020 17:52

I've had a filthy day, I'm grumpy as fuck, I don't know what I want, but I know I haven't got it.

On the plus side, nice to see Shag and BIWI

Please NOBODY say anything uplifting or cheerful to me or I may just implode.

I'm going to flounce now for a glass of forbidden wine. And I may then have another. Until I cheer the fuck up.

StuntNun · 23/04/2020 18:11

I'm still around too Shag reading every day but not posting much, thanks for checking up.
