Week 3 - October Low Carb Bootcamp - the fork in the road

Welcome!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all.

So we enter the infamous week 3. Along with week 4, these are the two weeks where you are very likely to see weight loss slow or stop altogether.

Don't panic!

This is entirely normal.

But, from now on, you can also decide if you want to continue with the strict approach of Bootcamp, or if you want to take a slightly more relaxed approach - Bootcamp Light. This means that you can incorporate some nuts/seeds, and some fruits - mainly berries. Alcohol can be introduced - moderately, and only those which are low carb.

Some people choose to stay on Bootcamp, others choose to do a hybrid, so Bootcamp during the week, and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

The choice is yours - just keep a close eye on the scales/your measurements - or however you're choosing to monitor your progress.

D: baked camembert with olive oil roasted crispy kale, seasoned with salt and pepper.

@MrsTerryPratchett Please can you share the blue cheese and mushroom pie recipe, I can't find it and it sounds delicious!

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 28/10/2019 19:25

After all that goal setting and positivity, today has been really hard. I know I'm only 4lbs away from goal 2, but it all feels impossible.

Food today:
B: fried mushroom in butter with leftover greens from yesterday, coffee with cream
L: buttered beef slices, a few "cheese sandwiches" (half a slice of cheese between two slices of cucumber), decaf with cream
S: slice of red leicester, cup of Earl Grey rooibos tea with a splash of FF milk
D: chicken and bacon "risotto" with mushrooms and kale (cauliflower rice in the risotto).

2l water so far. About to have mint and liquorice tea. Feeling very full of cauliflower, not in a good way. Would like to fall into a vat of dairy milk.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/10/2019 19:37

@MrsGarethSouthgate I can't link because I'm on my phone but it's on ditchthecarbs, along with a lot of other yummy-sounding things!

StabMe Ooh they look divine!!! Envy

After 10 days of PMT I've finally come on!!!! Had a massive pressure headache which went as soon as I did, weird. And I'm sure it's mental but I'm feeling slinking already.

Skipped breakfast as wasn't hungry, so fennel is waiting for me in the work fridge. Still planning fish pie for tea, just got to whack it in the oven when I get in. Bit experimental - hope it works!

Feeling good being back on the water today. I must get I to the habit when out of the office (with its lovely cold water tap!).

I'm also loving the mini goals - I've got a little notebook with them in. The next is to get a weigh in day below the 80kg mark.

2 - 76kg to be below 12 stone.

3 - 74kg - my first BIG goal - a big chunk (quite literally!) to get down to out of obese.

4 - 70kg - under 11 stone

5 - 68kg and 150lbs - under the weight I was before I fell into an awful bout of PTSD related breakdown. I felt huge and awful.

6 - 61kg. Healthy weight.

stayathomegardener · 28/10/2019 20:27

Please could someone take 6lb off for me on the spreadsheet.

JFDI2019 · 28/10/2019 20:34

I know BIWI, I know! Blush Soon as I posted I thought oh shut up moaning you twat! I'm not expecting 7lbs every week, but was hoping for about 2/3. Anyway, all losses are losses. Smile

BlueLilyLilyBlue · 28/10/2019 20:35

Congrats on everyone's losses! Flowers

I've lost two pounds this week, so continuing steadily. Had a few friends try and discourage me from trying to lose weight which I'm grumpy about. Even if BMI is a load of rubbish, I'm still overweight and trying to get healthier, not sure why this is a problem!

B - total greek yogurt
L - some roast chicken and a bit of salad
D - cajun chicken and sprouts.

I also had a couple of coffees with cream.

Cauliflowerpower · 28/10/2019 20:42

Hi lovely losers!

So tired I'm in bed already so I'm going to be quick.

B - none
L - salad
D - pork and tomato "rice" soup

I've got a fab broccoli salad recipe to share when I can keep my eyes open. Forgot to weigh this morning so I'll update tomorrow

Night x

MrsGarethSouthgate · 28/10/2019 20:54

@stayathomegardener I've put you at 123lbs, is that right? There wasn't a weight entered last week, so if it's not right then let me know.

@MrsTerryPratchett Found it, and subsequently just ordered some coconut flour! Thanks very much.

absopugginglutely · 28/10/2019 21:00

Can anyone tell me if there is any LC chocolate out there?
In Sainsbury’s tonight I just saw 100%cocoa one Matzuma or something and it was 8g per 100g.
I know we try to stick below 5g so I left it on the shelf Halo

Only to get home to realise that the cocoa I had at home (as in drinking chocolate) and have been having from time to time has 8.5g per 100g so not safe either Sad
Day 1 of period apparently = me needing chocolate.

absopugginglutely · 28/10/2019 21:04

B: cream coffee
L: buttery omelette and salmon with lemon juice
D: low carb spag Bol without spag and buttery sprouts the Bol has 2 grated courgettes and loads of mushrooms.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/10/2019 21:10

I should post food!

Eggs and butter in a cup. Celery
Eggs Benedict no bun. Tomatoes
Buttery salmon. Sprouts

venusandmars · 28/10/2019 21:51

@absoplugginglutely THIS is what I have. It is 14g carb per 100g. I sometimes have one square (a tenth of the block and therefore 1.4g carbs). I try to have it only when I'm feeling 'pudding envy'. Then I might have some double cream, a few raspberries, and a square of chocolate grated over the top.

I've tried 100% cocoa solids but even for me, it is just too bitter. Spat it out.

StabMeReapers · 28/10/2019 21:59

I know I'm only 4lbs away from goal 2, but it all feels impossible.

You also know it’s not impossible, GreenWillow. Get a good night’s sleep. Everything will look better in the morning.

8track the were bloody amazing. I was serious when I said I’m going to eat oysters at every available opportunity, and these were sublime! So happy.

absopugginglutely · 28/10/2019 22:02

@venusandmars Thank you!

StabMeReapers · 28/10/2019 22:02

MrsGarethSouthgate I was intrigued by the pie so looked it up. This might be it.

StabMeReapers · 28/10/2019 22:06

Had a few friends try and discourage me from trying to lose weight which I'm grumpy about. Even if BMI is a load of rubbish, I'm still overweight

bluelilly I look forward to a time when I’m acceptably overweight so people tell me I shouldn’t be trying to lose. Grin

MrsGarethSouthgate · 28/10/2019 22:51

Thanks @StabMeReapers - I'm definitely going to have a go at this next weekend, sans bacon (probably swapping for my old faithful spinach!).

prettybird · 28/10/2019 23:17

I sometimes get the Lindt 90% chocolate: one two square is usually enough to satisfy a chocolate craving Smile It has a nice texture and mouth feel - but is intense so a little is plenty.

It's also nice to have alongside a cup of peppermint or peppermint & liquorice tea. Gives the sense of a mint chocolate Grin (I know - I shouldn't still be thinking in terms of sweet things Blush)

It's 14g Carbs per 100g - so even 2 squares is only 2.8g carbs.

Only for Boot Camp Lite though.

prettybird · 28/10/2019 23:23

Bluelily -we've talked before on these threads how some people try to sabotage you when you're losing weight successfully. They may not be doing it intentionally - but they might feel threatened by your success and also the fact that you're no longer fitting (Wink) their mental picture of you as a "fat(ter)" person.

They'll get over it. And if they don't, they're not very good friends Hmm

(caveat: if anyone is genuinely anorexic or has a different eating disorder, that's obviously a different situation Sad)

1Wildheartsease · 29/10/2019 00:13

There is much good eating on here... but not much about water. (Where are you @ShagMeRiggins?)

1Wildheartsease · 29/10/2019 00:17

I haven't been told to stop losing weight by anyone (:( Clearly not that close to target!) However, my Mum (who has long accepted that I no longer 'like' puddings) did serve me with beef roasted in brown sugar and honey on my last visit. This is soooooo far from her usual cooking that I think it is some expression of worry about change.

DownUdderer · 29/10/2019 00:25

I’m doing my best to eat well. I’ve got a sick child home from school today. I’m thinking about an egg fast.

I chuckled at someone’s goals, where they say ‘yes you can eat whatever you want when you reach your goal’ and then say ‘not really!’ when they reach the goal! That’s me exactly! I promised myself a nice elegant every day necklace when I lost a stone, I could use the money I saved from quitting Coke a cola. But when I reached that goal I just set a new goal!

DownUdderer · 29/10/2019 00:27

The more you type goal the less it looks like a real word!

StabMeReapers · 29/10/2019 00:48

There is much good eating on here... but not much about water. (Where are you @ShagMeRiggins?)

I’m right here. Halloween name change.

And from your post 1Wildsheartease your mother is having difficulty with changes.

It’s okay. Changes aside, KOKO.

PS—WATER! WATER! WATER! Grin

It really makes a difference, and not in a meal replacement way, y’all.
