Morning all

here's the spreadsheet, as per

Only two weeks to go, but still time to lose a couple more pesky pounds Smile

But this won't happy if custard slices and ice-cream are involved ...

@MrsBertBibby , I’d love some , just need to learn how to look after them first
We had a talk on making hives last night , and made some frames , last week we suited up and checked the hives
I 💕 them 🐝

MrsBertBibby · 11/07/2019 21:01

Heh, we've had ours for a year, I did the theory and practical courses but they are still scary! They've been really struggling this year, so I don't think we will get any honey this time. 25 jars last year. I can't see them surviving the winter if they don't buck their ideas up sharpish.

Fascinating little swine, they are.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 11/07/2019 21:32

Hi Everyone, haven't been on for a while because morning sickness has driven me in desperation to eat carbs as an attempt to control my appetite.

I have however been doing some reading and discovered some information suggesting that morning sickness is made worse by eating carbs as pregnancy can make you intolerant of insulin. So on monday i took the plunge again and went full keto. Yesterday i felt like poo but this morning i have been nausea for the first time in 5 weeks.

Its either a massive coincidence or it works! I plan to continue and this will hopefully mean that i i don't gain 3 stone like last pregnancy Blush

Iamnotacerealkiller · 11/07/2019 21:32

nausea FREE that should say!

ShagMeRiggins · 12/07/2019 00:27

Greebo are you actually playing in Cambridge? I’m nearby and would love to see your show if possible. PM me with details unless you aren’t comfortable with the idea of a random Bootcamper being there. I totally get it. And break a leg.

1stMrsF · 12/07/2019 00:28

@Iamnotacerealkiller that makes so much sense. I suspect it will be really hard to overcome the cravings, but once you can, everything will be much better.

I feel that my slippery slope to obesity started with pregnancy nausea and carb craving (exacerbated by high cortisol levels due to sleep deprivation later) so it would be worth trying to avoid if possible.

So hard to ignore what your body is telling you though. Let us know what does work/you enjoy eating and perhaps we can suggest similar ideas/recipes. Well done for surviving- it's a miserable thing Sad

ShagMeRiggins · 12/07/2019 00:31

Too much traffic to reply to all but some interesting chat tonight, and for the record Serena Williams is mind-blowing to watch play in person. So much more appreciation for her game than what I’ve seen on telly (Which has always been impressive anyway). Lovely day out.

Managed a pulled lamb with rocket, sundries tomatoes, and rosemary pesto for lunch. Yum.

Summery1 · 12/07/2019 01:21

B: eggs and mushrooms
L: lettuce, cheese and taco mince.
D: chicken thighs from slow cooker, with onion and tomato. On iceberg.
Snack: chocolate 85%

Iamnotacerealkiller · 12/07/2019 06:15

@1stMrsF

Yes it was much harder in the initial stages, also i couldn't really tell anyone the whole truth about what i was doing because of the fat phobia stuff so had to be vague saying ' oh im just cutting down on sugar asi have heard is it good for the sickness' they can't argue with that.

This was after another argument with my mother about fat. Honestly i have these long discussions about why fat is good for you explaining the chemistry etc and she seems to agree then the next time i see her its back to the default 'but butter is soo bad for your cholesterol!!!' and i'm just saying this because is 'fashionable'. so annoying. ive long decided to basically give up with her but i still talk about the fact that she should eat more olive oil, less vegetable oils but she even struggles with that.

Rshard · 12/07/2019 06:42

Friday weigher with a lb loss, really pleased. Good luck to all the other Friday weighers!

Currently 11,1 and would love to get into the 10’s by the end of this bootcamp. Seems achievable but don’t want to jinx myself

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/07/2019 08:08

Ooh @ShagMeRiggins, I can't work out how to send PMs from the app, but yes, we are at The Orchard Tea Gardens tonight and tomorrow (12-13th) and I'd love to see you there! Tickets can be bought on the door and if you come you must say hello afterwards.

We have someone in the cast who is apparently a quite famous YouTuber and it's normally him people want to speak to afterwards, so it'll make a nice change to have someone say hello to me instead! Then I can claim to be internet famous too. Grin

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/07/2019 08:09

Can someone more tech savvy than me PM ShagMe please, so she knows I've replied?

1stMrsF · 12/07/2019 08:31

The fat thing annoys me too. Every time I speak to a colleague at work about what I'm doing she says she's being 'good' avoiding the 'fattening' fats. I wouldn't mind so much but she teaches cookery! She told my DDs that the ice cream they were making was fattening because of the double cream. I just hope I can instill good habits in them as they grow up. They are so fussy now all they really eat is carbs but I've tried to explain that not eating too much sugar is the critical thing and that white carbs are just like sugar and I hope they will learn this from me alongside the low-fat high carb propaganda on the curriculum.

We had lunch at SILs last week. Her DH is diabetic and she had orediabetic blood sugars at some point so they both watch what they eat and we've had some good conversations about HFLC but alongside the reduced salt/sugar ketchup on the table was low fat mayonnaise, which, no surprise had extra sugar it in. Pointless!

ShagMeRiggins · 12/07/2019 09:06

Greebo that’s so close to me I had lunch there a few weeks ago! I will definitely be there—we were looking through the Shakespeare festival lineup anyway—and will see if I can lure the kids with the promise of a YouTubed Hmm, but rest assured all celebrity fawning will be aimed solely at you.

Very excited, Saturday sorted!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/07/2019 09:09

Oooh, how exciting!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 12/07/2019 09:11

its exhausting isn't it. I signed on to the gov eat less move more campaign a few years ago as it gave you vouchers and money off food. unfortunately all the 'healthy' recommendations and coupons were for sugarfree versions of fizzy drinks (so sweeteners) and low fat versions of everything.

We had health insurance though work for a time and as part of it you had to fill in various health questionnaires. One question was about how many times a week you ate low fat dairy products and naturally i put zero. it basically set of a claxon and turned that section red (all other areas green) and because of that my 'body age' was advanced by 3 years...madness

Oh im near Cambridge too!!

ShagMeRiggins · 12/07/2019 09:16

Greebo the show starts at 7 but it says there’s a director’s talk before, any idea when that takes place? Sorry everyone for the detail but I’m thinking this is easier than explaining PMs to Greebo! Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 12/07/2019 09:16

cerealkiller you should come as well!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 12/07/2019 09:19

Its a bit late for me these days (1 year old and pregnancy hormones to deal with) i'll think of you, you will only be a couple of miles away! wouldn't mind meeting my fellow bootcampers another time though!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/07/2019 09:25

The director's talk starts at 7, show starts at 7.30. Director's talk is pretty fun, especially if you're bringing kids - they can get up and have a go at sword fighting (under the close supervision of a trained fight coordinator!)

The YouTuber is called Oliver Thorn and his channel is called Philosophy Tube. Very popular with the teens-early 20s green haired ultra woke crowd, going by the demographic who've been showing up!

Notwatchingtvtoday · 12/07/2019 09:53

Morning all and lovely to hear how everyone is doing.
BIWI your fridge looks great and hopefully your building work will continue to run smoothly, it looks like your right in the middle of it all now, take lots of photos as it’s great to look back on and if you can include your family in them as well. Love your new fridge and freezer, we have just retro fitted a boiling water tap (quooker) which I love and so do the rest of my family, can’t recommend highly enough if you have the budget.

Well after feeling a bit stuck I have lost a 1 lb overnight, hurrah, finally feel like I’m back in the groove of it. I also found last night that I did not feel the need for a celaric mash or cauliflower rice, ie a carb type substitute on the plate, so maybe something is also switching mentally.

“the fat thing” really annoys me too, when challenged about butter in my coffee, on veg etc, I usually reply with as I am not having any bread, cakes etc it’s only the same as I would be eating but without the sugar, that does seem to placate those who are worried.

B Greek yogurt and coffee with butter
L eggs and salad with mayonnaise
D lamb ( leftover from last night so will do something with it) and roasted green veg with salad

BIWI · 12/07/2019 11:05

@Notwatchingtvtoday oh yes - a Quooker was the top of the list of appliances I wanted!

ShagMeRiggins · 12/07/2019 11:19

cerealkiller my family has grown a bit past that stage but I remember it well. Understood!

I’m finding it very difficult to plan and cook for the family. Now the weather is nice again and I don’t have much appetite it is such a colossal faff!

Tonight will be leftovers, or Fend as I call it: Fend for Yourself. Wink

Almahart · 12/07/2019 15:22

Just went to Aldi feeling hungry and bought way too much food. Cramming tons into the freezer. NSV today am in denim culottes I bought about three years ago and that haven’t fitted since.

Lovely breakfast of bacon and avocado, lunch was grilled asparagus and a poached egg, dinner will be steak and roast broccoli

BIWI I have loved this boot camp, I’m not at all waiting to get back to ‘normal’ eating. Thank you

VeryLittleOwl · 12/07/2019 19:55

Kitchen's looking good, BIWI! We're working on a house at the moment (which we'll probably retire to one day, we love it a bit too much) where we've knocked a tiny dining room and a small downstairs bedroom together to make a big kitchen/diner and the existing tiny kitchen is becoming the utility. The units started going in yesterday and I'm really excited to see what it looks like when it's done.

I'm having my first go at making cauliflower rice tonight. So far it's been messy, but one portion is in the oven and the other two are bagged and in the freezer. (Times like this I wish we had a microwave and I could just buy the steam bags I saw in Tesco the other day!)
