So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

Not able to get on the spreadsheet and have spent the afternoon at hospital so it has been a muddle through day.

Breakfast - not low carb
Lunch - Salmon & Chrese
Supper - Haddock, Broccoli & Peas.
3 coffees and lots of water.

Rshard · 13/05/2019 21:36

Your dinner looks delicious @nink

I’ll definitely be trying the M&S meattza @ilovecherries, thanks for posting. It looks like it might be part of their pizza 3 for 10 offer?

Notlostjustexploring · 13/05/2019 21:39

My planned meals today went out the window. We're having soffits and fascia done and it's making quite the racket to couldn't keep baby asleep inside, and ended up with two walks and a drive to give him the minimum sleep he needed today. So alas no lunch.

However, I discovered an excellent snack while waiting on dinner cooking - sprinkle chili flakes on the plate you're doing exploded babybels on, then dip the resultant spicy crisps in some sour cream.

Hefzi · 13/05/2019 21:41

Thanks so much, Athelstane! And of course, huge thanks to BIWI, who deserves a medal also for being the world's most patient big-stick-wielder Grin

Feeling very virtuous that I've packed my breakfast and lunch up tonight already - have a stupid early meeting that will go on until nearly lunchtime. And the one thing I was rigid about after last BC was keeping up the water - so I am hoping not to be weeing like a racehorse every hour on the hour as usually happens the first night of BC...

felippertyfeck · 13/05/2019 21:46

First check in! Thanks for this @BIWI and @Athelstane. Well I started easing my self into low carb over the last week and have lost a bit already, water. But I’m going to put today’s weight into the Sof. Best of luck everyone. B. Avocado, L. Pret chicken Italian salad D. Feta cheese salad

felippertyfeck · 13/05/2019 22:18

Just discovered I can’t edit the spreadsheet on phone Blush. Will try on computer tomorrow. 245 lbs this morning. Night all Smile

Mandelinka · 13/05/2019 22:22

First day went well .
It was my day off so had a chance to do some prepping etc. the only complaint is that I was feeling cold even with 3 layers on ( indoors) Confused

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 13/05/2019 22:35

I'm going to have issues posting my weight - am a bit odd - but can assure you I'm fully committed. At 5'10" and big boned (really) I have always had issues, even on anonymous websites. Day 10 for me and still right on track.

MasterFlamingo · 13/05/2019 22:49

We'll done everyone, sounds like you're all off to a good start.

I've eaten well today and drunk 2.5l water
B - Greek yoghurt
L - prawn salad, oodles of leaves and dressing
D - mozzarella, basil, tomato salad and an avocado

Went to yoga (hence light dinner) and was confronted by my large belly in various downward poses. Really need this bootcamp so thanks to BIWI & Athelstan for the resources & your time and efforts.

MissMolli · 13/05/2019 22:56

End of day one. I weighed in this morning then had 2 boiled eggs mashed with butter, then lunch was some smoked mackerel with steamed white cabbage, which was lovely and sweet against the fish. Then dinner tonight I had a couple of pork medallions cooked in oil/butter with a small tin of Lidl's sliced mushrooms in water, drained well and added to the pan with the pork medallions. It was lush, surprisingly as I added some powdered garam masala and curry leaves.
Looking forward to day 2 - thankyou so much BIWI. Onwards and downwards (weight-wise), and a very happy weightloss journey to everyone xx

Summery1 · 13/05/2019 23:11

Yippee. I'm so excited to be here.
167lbs today. My dream weight would be 150lbs, so anything that goes in that direction is good!
B: 3 scrambled eggs and smoked salmon
L: Salmon, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, coleslaw.
D: Smoked mackerel and coleslaw.
(Mainly in leftovers from the weekend).

Summery1 · 13/05/2019 23:15

Feeling a bit headachey. I'd love a slice of fruit cake and tea.
Oh yes, I've drunk 2 decaf coffees and 2.5L water.
I did a good bit of exercise as well - my first 5k run/walk in 2 months and I swam 1km.

BringBackDoves · 13/05/2019 23:15

A bad start this morning with power cut and house alarm going off ... so didn’t manage any breakfast as it was all a bit frantic.

Soup and 2 boiled eggs for lunch
Low carb moussaka for dinner which was delicious - got the recipe off the thread on here. And have leftovers tomorrow!!!!

Staying positive this time!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/05/2019 23:18

I stayed strong! Too late to cook chicken by the time I got home so had halloumi instead with asparagus, mushrooms and spinach. All cooked in butter of course Wink

MrsBertBibby · 14/05/2019 00:14

Totally messed up food today, got stuck out of office all day so ate nothing from breakfast (micro as was dashing) until I got home at 5.30 when I had to speed make a cheese omelette before I expired.

Followed later by avocado, leaves, greyer, pine nuts and oil.

Managed to find water in the day but annoyed I forgot to take a bottle in the car.

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 14/05/2019 01:00

Checking in after a very long day, I've been low carb on and off for about a year, managing to stay under 10 St but only just, really want to get down to 9st which is where I'd be happiest.
B. Yoghurt
L. Salad (from my garden, really pleased with this! ) anchovies and egg
D. Roast chicken, creamed spinach and brocoli.
Dh away this week so it's easier to stay off the wine, already done a week due to a uti... Just need to stick to it when he's home.

MightyWings · 14/05/2019 03:28

@BIWI

1g net carb per slice (almond flour keto bread)

Sadiesnakes · 14/05/2019 04:16

Today was easier then expected, but I've been half arsing intermittent fasting recently so getting used to restricting food, sugar etc.
So breakfast was 2 scrambled eggs fried in butter.
Lunch, sliced cold roast beef and cheese and
Dinner, a large meatball and caprese salad without the cherry tomatoes.

Drinks: water and strawberry green tea.

Excited for tomorrow!

Almahart · 14/05/2019 06:52

I had a delayed start to BC - had arranged to meet an old colleague for lunch and I’d forgotten how assertive you need to be sometimes - we ended up going to a noodle/rice place where nothing was low carb. I went for chicken with brown rice. Should have insisted on Pret. Lesson learned!. I also had two diet cokes do not the greatest start. Don’t know what I was thinking.

I was starving when I got in so smacked on smoked mackerel and cheese. Dinner was as planned chicken ramen with injection noodles. They are a bit plasticky but they do work

Doilooklikeatourist · 14/05/2019 07:13

I’m having to delay my start ( will be Wednesday as day 1 ) as we have old friends from mother and toddler days ( our toddlers are now 24 ) staying with us

So , while there was no bread , potatoes etc , there was wine involved
Tonight we’re going out for an Indian
Breakfast Greek yoghurt ( amazing how tastes have changed , I couldn’t bear it plain before October , now it tastes smooth and is sweet enough )
L 2 egg cheese and avocado omlette with green salad
D whichever chicken curry looks least bad , no rice or poppodoms

Jackielaffertyiscold · 14/05/2019 07:16

I cant put myself on the spreadsheet, but I'm on day one today

ShagMeRiggins · 14/05/2019 07:30

Well hello, lovely Bootcampers. Started yesterday 1lb down from end of last bootcamp (so hardly the preposterous BB goal I had set of 17lb Hmm), but happy to not have a gain overall during those six weeks.

Setting myself a 20lb weight loss goal in the 10 weeks of this bootcamp, at which time I will allow myself an alcoholic beverage famous last words.

Waving to the oldies, welcoming the newbies, predicting great success for everyone.

Rshard · 14/05/2019 07:31

Morning all, ready for day 2!

I’m at a meeting in Birmingham this morning, where there is a pret - there isn’t one in my city so I am going to grab one of the salads from there recommended on the food with pics thread!

Hope everyone has a great day, the sun is shining where I am!

venusandmars · 14/05/2019 07:51

@MrsBertBibby that sounds like quite a success actually. It would have been so easy to have grabbed a sandwich, or crisps, or toast.... but instead you rustled up an omelette. Well done.

venusandmars · 14/05/2019 08:10

B - full fat yogurt
L - spinach soup, tuna and mayonnaise salad
D - cheese and vegetable omelette (maybe with some pancetta lardons)

It's a lovely sunny day here, so I've got my shorts on and I'm off for a walk to the swimming pool.
