So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

DH left half his pizza. I ate the pepperoni and cheese off the top and binned the base. Not sure where all this newfound willpower is coming from, but I'm liking it Grin

Notlostjustexploring · 17/05/2019 22:08

VeryLittleOwl hi five for the willpower!!!!

I managed not to succumb, and now I'm off to bed.

Need to drink 2.5 litres of water first...

Doilooklikeatourist · 17/05/2019 22:11

Had a lovely chicken fajita spice thing for dinner ( no wrap , obviously )
Chicken breast , fajita spice , onion , courgette , mushroom ,tinned toms , ( I know onion and tomatoes are not true low carb but one onion and a tin of tomatoes split 3 ways ..not bad )
I had Tesco frozen cauli rice with mine , which was a bit soggy , but nice and I added butter and double cream to the sauce
THEY had white rice and wraps with theirs
Have drunk loads of water , and not feeling too bad , craving salt (? ) and wine
Hoping to see movement on the scale on Monday
Enjoy the weekend losers 👍

Rayna37 · 17/05/2019 22:11

Great willpower tonight all round! I got stuck on the M6 so instead of a quiet night in I had to meet DH and DS after the 5k in the next village (DS having had to go with him and watch Daddy race minded by a friend) then go to a pizza and wine post-race party. Had only a glass of water and kept busy chasing around after a toddler waaaay past his bedtime. Did eat some great M&S rollitos in the traffic jam which was essentially dinner.

SittingontheSidelines · 17/05/2019 22:19

Oh well done @Rayna37, sound like you have lots of willpower. Hope if you're hungry there's something nice you can have at home.

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 17/05/2019 22:51

I'm really missing wine, but I've told DH I'm not drinking until the holidays start, hopefully that'll keep me on the straight and narrow. Having fizzy water with angostura bitters and a dash of lemon, my cold is finally on its way out and my knee doesn't hurt as much today so hopefully a better few days ahead!
Just bought a dress to wear to our 6th form grad ball, teachers go and we all make an effort, I usually rotate an old dress, treated myself this year, got it today and its too big! So waiting for the next size down to arrive tomorrow. My motivation will be to not have too much of a lumpy belly come the end of June... Would just like to be a bit slimmer around the middle. 6 weeks, I reckon its doable.

MrsBertBibby · 17/05/2019 22:51

I did a 1k swim. Go me! So hard to get time to exercise.

m0therofdragons · 18/05/2019 00:07

Great will power everyone!

I'm on a small Facebook group of friends I know where we share recipes etc. Tonight I shared my loss so far (as one did similar 2 weeks ago when she lost 2 stone and everyone was lovely). I was told I was a show off. I'll stick to celebrating here!

Summery1 · 18/05/2019 00:24

Hi all. Back home at last (I was away for 2 nights). I'm struggling to drink 2L but I keep trying. I've started adding salt to food which feels really weird.
B: hotel- scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms. I added extra butter to the mushrooms.
I skipped the black pudding as it is made with oatmeal and ditto the sausage. I couldn't count the carbs and I like to have milk for coffee.
L: chicken breast with arrabiata sauce (think carb free), green salad.
D: stirfry in duckfat (from a roast Christmas'18 - smells perfect in the fridge, but had been avoided) - broccoli, courgette, aubergine, green pepper, celery, ginger garlic and squid (frozen).

My menu is a lot of stirfry veg with frozen or vacume pack fish so I'm loving the recipe ideas. I must watch out for frozen celeriac, though I suppose I could microwave it like turnip. Thank goodness I love eggs and cheese - I like lots of the food choices in this WoE.

Like some others I'm not sleeping the best, but nothing worrying.

Summery1 · 18/05/2019 00:27

Yikes mother. I can't imagine saying that to someone, so how could they write it? Weird.

Eatenalltheeastereggs · 18/05/2019 02:08

Thanks for all words of encouragement after my earlier moan/rant. Awake again but hopefully will get back to sleep.
Ended up having loads of chicken wings and drumsticks instead of sausages and cauliflower cheese.

KNEW you’d pick up on the 0% Fage BIWI Grin I got it in for the kids because they are still eating pasta, bread, rice etc. so I figure it would be better to keep the yoghurt at 0% because they eat loads of it. I hear what you say about sweets and the kids. The churros were a treat on a rare meal out. A lot of the sweeties we buy for the weekend get snaffled by me and I’ve noticed they haven’t eaten ANY tonight (but have eaten lots of crisps!) My teenage DS is actually amazing with his diet to the point where we worry he might be too obsessed. He’s always on myfitnesspal counting up his protein intake. He’s actually not eating breakfast at the moment and extolling the virtues of intermittent fasting but eats a huge lunch and loads of steak, salmon, tuna, avocados, kale/greens and drinks green tea. It’s odd having convos with him about carbs/fasting because he’s really reading into it and I can’t argue about the breakfast thing with him. I’ve told him that if he starts to lose concentration or feels week during the morning he’ll need to rethink but he says he feels sharper for it.

As a ‘naturally’ overweight person I find it a struggle to handle my kids attitudes to food. On the one hand you aren’t supposed to model ‘dieting’ as it might lead to an eating disorder but then parents are castigated for their overweight children but you mustn’t mention the word ‘fat’ either.

My kids go ‘are you on a diet mum?’ and I say ‘no, just trying to eat healthier’ and they say ‘yeah, she’s on a diet’.

I am trying to adjust their diet subtly by not always serving pasta or potatoes. Slipping in some mashed swede and piling on the green veg to try and crowd out the usual carbs accompaniments.

I would like to make this a permanent way of eating but at the moment it’s one day at a time.

SittingontheSidelines · 18/05/2019 04:03

@m0therofdragons 😞. Perhaps they're a bit jealous? Thanks

SittingontheSidelines · 18/05/2019 05:54

@m0therofdragons that was a bit Confused. People can be very strange. 💐 I

SittingontheSidelines · 18/05/2019 05:55

BlushBlushBlushkept telling me it hadn't posted.

Rshard · 18/05/2019 06:25

Some superhero strength willpower!

Your friend definitely sounds jealous m0ther, we’re all proud of you!

2 days in a swimming pool with dd this weekend, so lots of opportunities to get bored and fall off the wagon. Mitigation planned is shows on my iPad and a new book. A walk to M&S for some nice bits for lunch. Plan, plan, plan.

Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday

blackteaplease · 18/05/2019 06:36

I love all the food inspiration here. Last night for dinner I had crispy pork belly and braised pointed cabbage, it was delicious.
@Mother your Facebook friend is not your friend. Congrats on your weightloss, we all know how hard it is.

Almahart · 18/05/2019 06:45

I’m afraid I fell off the wagon last night and had a packet of salted almonds - as a result of drinking several glasses of wine

I’d been really good with food - wasn’t very hungry when I got in from leaving drinks so dinner was brussel sprouts with lots of butter and salt and pepper (so good that my 12 year old kept snacking them!) but two glasses of wine later I was desperate for some crunch

I had lost 4ibs but put one back on overnight

Lesson learned. No more wine! I am literally going to chuck my size 16 jeans away today and KOKO

venusandmars · 18/05/2019 08:11

We're off camping tonight, in the rain!

B - scrambled eggs and smoked salmon
L - thai chicken soup with veg
D - veg and prawn stir fry, followed by dreamy creamy yogurt

Youwanapizzame · 18/05/2019 09:09

Not sure what I'm doing today. Had a row with dh last night so we're not yearly on speakers... sigh.

B - cheese and bacon omelette
L - might make a packed lunch. Was thinking cucumber roll ups with salami/cheese or tuna or something
D- leftover curry

Have a good day y'all x

VeryLittleOwl · 18/05/2019 09:21

Morning everyone. The scales rewarded yesterday's good behaviour with another lb gone, which I'm grateful for.

B - undecided yet, thinking about it over my first pint of the day
L - will be in town, so another chicken salad
D - the leek I bought yesterday was so enormous I only cooked half of it, so I'll go for leeks, bacon and Boursin again.

Ninkaninus · 18/05/2019 09:28

Morning everyone!

Just now I was sitting with my coffee thinking, what is it I’ve not done this morning, everything feels wrong.... (I am very routine- based)

It was my two glasses of water I’d forgotten to drink! 😄

So I’ve guzzled them down and now everything feels right! 👍

IStillMissBlockbuster · 18/05/2019 09:29

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but all week i've not once calorie counted or really been restrictive with my portions. I have eaten at restaurants TWICE and have never been hungry. I have adhered to the WOE but didn't think I would see any changes in a week. Well, it's been 5 days really and I'm 3lbs lighter already! I'm still as sceptical about seeing more changes next week though Grin

Ninkaninus · 18/05/2019 09:35

Blockbuster it’s great isn’t it?

It’s the only way I ‘diet’ (although we don’t use that word as it’s a lifestyle not a diet), because any other plan just takes all the joy out of food for me.

There will be difficult days, we all get them, and moments where everything in you compels you toward carby twatdom, but it’s so worth it resisting that call.

The lbs will go up again here and there, but it’s always part of a downward trajectory and if we stick to it we’ll get there!

Well done on your loss so far!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 18/05/2019 09:49

Morning.

Managed to resist the lure of the wine last night - despite DH encouraging me to have "just one". Probably because he thought it would it stop me moaning - it wouldn't have, I'd have just started moaning about my lack of willpower instead. I had a peppermint tea and went to bed instead.

B: bacon and mushrooms fried in butter, two scrambled eggs (with more butter)
L: rehearsing all day, so made myself a spinach, roast beef and Stilton salad to take along. If there's one group guaranteed to understand slightly strange eating habits with a view to losing weight, it's a bunch of actors.
D: off to a Eurovision party so taking some chicken legs, little mini salami sausages and some olives so as to avoid the lure of crisps and sausage rolls.
