So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

Box grater here for cauli. Wasn’t so keen back in the carb flu days though when my muscles had nothing in them.
Incidentally, I made too much last week and it kept for ages in the fridge afterwards. Maybe 4 days or so? Had dried out a bit and maybe smelt a little more cauliflowery but was fine stir fried with bits through it.

PushkarKali · 16/05/2019 19:54

I made some cauliflower rice in the smoothie maker, but it's a bit narrow and just kept seizing up. Still, with a bit of shaking in between pulses it kind of worked! It made a very nice sort of biryani with fried onion, celery, courgette and a bit of ras el hanout.

WheelyCote · 16/05/2019 20:01

Maybe i need something high in fat or maybe just need to sleep

ChippingInLowCarbing · 16/05/2019 20:01

HeartyHooker. 💐 a stone in 7 weeks is Fabulous. Well done! 🎉⭐️

18pages I have s fringe, I lifted it up the other day while looking in the mirror (i never look in the mirror 🤣). I fully expected to see a train coming down the deep grooves above my nose. I need to 😳 more than I 😖. I’m not growing my fringe out anytime soon!

youcant. Sorry to hear you’re feeling awful. I think the Beechams or Nurofen cold tablets (not capsules) are brilliant. They have pseudoepherine in them. I drink a lot of hot water, I think that helps too. Not as soothing as L&H, but...Hope you feel better soon x

DrBuckles. 😖 STEP AWAY from the crisps and no one will get hurt! (except maybe DS! 😖). Send him back, tell him to ask for them. Consider it training, learnt helplessness is not good. His future partners will thank you! 🤣

batshittery. Your DH is a keeper!

thewayoftheworld. Thank you. Don’t try the packet one, it’s truly vile. I thought it might do for a quick lunch with stuff thrown in, but as BIWI said, it’s still pretty awful. (See my post above re making it myself).

👋🏻 To everyone else, some lovely posts & meal plans!

ChippingInLowCarbing · 16/05/2019 20:03

TheWayOfTheWorld x posted with you. That’s a good idea. My stick blender is a stand alone one but I’ll have a look at the ones with attachments.

mrwalkensir · 16/05/2019 20:11

Not doing badly here appetite-wise. Bit of cheese for breakfast . Ham salad with dressing for lunch. Couple of low carb sausages with courgette/shallots fried in a bit of curry powder plus the end of an old pot of sour cream. Re faces and weight loss.... there are non invasive treatments like radio frequency out there nowadays. Build up collagen...

Notlostjustexploring · 16/05/2019 20:16

I've got my knife stuck in my swede.

I'm currently reenacting the Sword in the Stone in my kitchen.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 16/05/2019 20:17

DrBuckles YAY where do you buy it?! Waitrose didn’t have any. They did however have frozen CELERIAC. I don’t usually buy frozen veg, but I’ll make the except for celeriac and C’rice. (Well maybe, I’m going to try the celeriac tonight).

BIWI that sounds good too. Thanks.

Hypatia. I guess it depends how many you’re cooking for maybe?! I do use the grater, but I hate doing it.

18pages. I feel like that most of the time and hate cooking anyway, so occasionally having an ‘easy option’ that’s still veg helps me stick to it.

pushkar. That sounds lovely. I love Indian food but our local takeaway is amazing and I’m not! But I have no idea what they put in theirs. I don’t suppose you have a favourite recipe for cauliflower bhaji do you? (The first time I ordered it I was unimpressed it wasn’t deep fried like onion bhaji 🤣)

Wheely nice cheese? Pork scratchings? Olives? Fruit tea? FF yogurt? Or a disk in the bath with a good book maybe? Hope you feel much better tomorrow.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 16/05/2019 20:20

NotLost. 🤣 I was thrilled to find frozen celeriac tonight. My knife thanks me too! Plus, it’s the same price as the fresh stuff (per kg) and the fresh ones were the size of tennis balls, far too much faff!

Good luck rescuing your knife 😖

18pagesfrontandback · 16/05/2019 20:21

Oh I’ve been there. Bang it on the shelf until something breaks. Hopefully the swede first.

DrBuckles · 16/05/2019 20:23

Chipping this week I got it at Ocado but I have had Tesco’s in the past. I’d be super interested to hear how the celeriac is- that’s another thing I can never be bothered to chop up, plus again I can never get through a whole one before getting bored so frozen would be ideal.

DS was very shocked that I said no thank you to the crisps, my other ds was very happy though as he got them!

@Notlostjustexploring Arise, the next King of England! Grin

Am liking the sound of radio frequency collagen treatment! I used to be all ‘grow old gracefully blah blah...’. No. More. I’m now willing to consider everything. Grin

MeltedEggMum · 16/05/2019 20:30

I'm most unimpressed with the state of my neck. All of a sudden the skin looks delicate and crepe-y. I'm 38!!!

Notlostjustexploring · 16/05/2019 20:50

ChippingInLowCarbing sadly I'd rather eat the tennis ball than eat celeriac. Just tastes too much like celery, and I'd rather lick the pavement than eat celery. I will watch out for frozen swede, although I'm insanely fussy about how my veg is chopped. For example, despite the shops selling bags of frozen chopped leeks, I choose to buy fresh leeks, slice them properly

*BIWi I'm a wee Scots lass, so not sure how convincing I'll be as King of England, but I'll give it a shot if you throw in the crown jewels.

I've successfully extracted my knife, and more importantly with all ten digits remaining attached to my person!!

I'm a bit concerned by all the ageing chat - I thought eating all this lovely fat was to give us the radiant glow of a 22 year old????

BIWI · 16/05/2019 21:04

I never promised time travel

Mine did that last BC and is starting to again. It did settle down. Eat all the chicken skin, it's full of collagen.

Rayna37 · 16/05/2019 21:07

Notlost I wouldn't dream of tackling a swede on my own.

Successful solo dinner out: scallops with bacon, didn't touch the bread, and steak with a plateful of assorted green veg. Sparkling water. Only fail was forgetting to order the salt and pepper butter for my steak.

Hoping I can be as strict in the morning at breakfast. I love the toast and peanut butter here but it'll be an average quality full English for me I'm afraid, self served so swerving the carbs.

blackteaplease · 16/05/2019 21:19

Tesco definitly sell frozen cauliflower rice in packs of 4 that you can microwave. I know it's easy to make your own but I'm time poor and need to feed hungry kids asap. Frozen isnt too bad.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/05/2019 21:21

Well I ended up having to see a physio this evening as my back had got so bad, and by the time I got home I couldn't be bothered to start cooking steak and veg, so dinner was avocado, FF cottage cheese and king prawns instead.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 16/05/2019 21:25

Waitrose used to do diced celeriac - or celeriac rice as they called it - and then it abruptly disappeared from the shelves. It was really nice and made a change from cauli rice Sad

prettybird · 16/05/2019 21:27

My main course tonight - didn't manage to finish it all! Shock

Now I need to go back and catch up on the thread.

Doilooklikeatourist · 16/05/2019 21:28

Think I might have over cheesed today
B bacon and mushrooms
L sliced ham with philly and lettuce
D chicken breast with LC cauli cheese , green beans
Snack Port Salut
Lots of sparkling and tap water , black coffee ( and I’d kill for a glass of wine )

Youwanapizzame · 16/05/2019 21:47

Bugger... did a mega post and it's gone....

B sausage and bacon
L leftover dinner
D pork belly with creamy mushrooms and roasted cauliflower and broccoli

Sorry haven't caught up with the thread but been v busy today.

A mad idea but does anyone else get a feeling when they're losing weight? I literally think "oh I'm eating myself " 😂🤣😂

SummerSazz · 16/05/2019 21:48

Happy anniversaries to those celebrating today and well done for keeping strong 💪

Busy day today which included morning Pilates, an hour walk and a 1km swim. I'm now in bed with a cuppa!

Food wise:
FF yoghurt & cream
3 slices jarlsberg and 3 cherry tomatoes
Chilli with grated cheese and spinach

Feckin loads of water 😂. Although some of that was just replacing the amounts sweated out in the sauna

No real scales movement but I've been LC since 1 Jan with only a couple of weekend blips so I'm not expecting any great whooshes.

Camping food sorted and all packed ready to go after work tomorrow

Just one shout out as, despite having read all the posts, I'm crap with remembering names but just wanted to say @tootstastic you've done brilliantly and are an inspiration 👏
