So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

There's nothing like quite like honey and lemon. But cloves in hot lemon water is a painkiller. I hear liquorice tea is good but I loathe the stuff!

DrBuckles · 16/05/2019 17:54

Just sent ds to the shop to get me some pork scratchings and he couldn’t find them so came back with crisps 😩

That’ll teach me for being so lazy!

BIWI · 16/05/2019 17:58

If you have a cold, just take ordinary paracetamol. If you like, you could have hot water with lemon to go with it - but please don't give in to the honey! And swerve Lemsip too.

Paracetamol will work just as well - if not better!

Happy anniversary to you too @Hobbes8!

I think it's probably time to draw a line under talk about chocolate, seeing as we are only day 4 of week 1!

Sorry. Blush

m0therofdragons · 16/05/2019 18:11

Good day today and had 2 nsv with a colleague who I've not seen for a few weeks commenting on my weightloss (something we had discussed in the past so not weird) and a mum friend at school commented too. (Didn't realise I was that big to start with but guess I was in denial really)

New bra size is 32DD from 34EE Grin

PushkarKali · 16/05/2019 18:15

I've had insane amounts of energy today and my mood has been great. I love this way of eating Smile Breakfast was three eggs scrambled in butter, lunch salad with ham and cheddar (again), dinner not yet sure. A lot of vegetables I reckon. Nearly the weekend, everyone!

Sorry also! Was trying to offer damage limitation for the future advice rather than enabling. I’ve been consciously trying not to talk about post week 2 eating habits too. Dammit! Grin I blame my bunged up sinuses/ears, I didn’t hear the question properly...

prettybird · 16/05/2019 18:22

That's brilliant m0ther - way to go!!! Grin

m0therofdragons · 16/05/2019 18:34

Thank you @prettybird

It's not 4 days effect, this was from January to now. I've lost 1st 10lbs so I think it's finally noticeable but I do go all awkward when people comment.

BIWI · 16/05/2019 18:36

It's OK! I joined in too Blush

Another good bc day here. I have three pairs of jeans that fit me. One is stained, one is ripped and one I don’t like

I think I will chuck out the first two so I HAVE to get back into my size 14s

Rayna37 · 16/05/2019 18:46

Good day so far:
B: 2 eggs scrambled
L: out with work but picked up delicious very low carb choices from Waitrose at the services- tikka chicken with a yogurt, lime and coriander dip, and some Serrano involtinis with chimichurri, both highly recommended for on the go. Need to make sure my dinner has some veg though!
Short trail run around a park, time for a bath then out for dinner. I've got £30 to blow in the Beefeater and I can't have wine so this should be good! Browsed the menu online which is good as you can get all the nutritional data, at least one benefit of a chain restaurant. Unfortunately most include the bread on the side or chips so need a bit of common sense too to pick actual best choices.
So many victories to salute, well done all!

18pagesfrontandback · 16/05/2019 18:47

I am just the same m0ther. I want any changes to be noticeable (obviously), but the stupid negative voice in my head just hears ‘you were fat’. Which whilst not untrue, isn’t the most positive way to frame things is it! Hmm

Batshittery · 16/05/2019 18:48

Happy anniversary to prettybird and Hobbes. I hope you've both enjoyed your meals.

There are some really positive posts. It keeps us all motivated thanks.

Yesterday, I passed comment to DH that I'd seen a picture of a dish of cabbage, bacon bits and cream and that it looked lovely. Came home tonight and he had made us the creamy cabbage/bacon for our tea. we had it with salmon fillets and it was delicious.

18pagesfrontandback · 16/05/2019 18:56

All round to yours for tea then Batshit? Sounds yum!

Sausages (Aldi pork 0.9g for 2), roasted broccoli in olive oil, cheesy cream baked leeks.

Can’t remember if it was earlier in this thread or not, but adding to the items you would recommend posts: the Cholula chilli sauce is great for adding a bit of zing to all sorts of dishes. Only 0.4g per 100ml - which would be 2/3 of the bottle! Am sure it’s probably been mentioned before but just in case any new to LC are wondering which condiments are safe.

Happy anniversary hobbes!

Another husband who’s a keeper batshittery.

Super NSV M0ther

Dh and I got to a local bar on a Thursday night while dd is swimming. They do a loyalty card and when it’s full you can have a free coffee or a cocktail. I went with the black coffee, so feeling quite smug right now!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 16/05/2019 19:23

@ChippingInLowCarbing , what BIWI said - I've never tried packet cauli rice, I just whizz up 150-200g. If I am having it as a plain rice substitute and it is going to be flavoured with a "sauce" (eg bolognese or chilli) , I just steam it in the microwave for 3 mins (in a takeaway box with lid on). Otherwise I cook it up with shallots and butter.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 16/05/2019 19:25

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal - make your own! Look up the "milk choc" recipe on Sugar Free Londoner. Very low carb, easy to make and a couple of squares hit the spot.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 16/05/2019 19:27

BIWI yep, the Caulirice in the packet was vile 😖 but I thought someone earlier had mentioned frozen caulirice, I’ll have a look later.

I don’t currently have a blender 😱. I’ve made it by hand a few times, but it’s an ENORMOUS faff that I just can’t be bothered with. I’m not buying anything for the kitchen until it’s been done & I doubt I’ll have the space for one as I’m ending up with even less storage than I have now 😖 stupid kitchen is all doors & no storage.

Hobbes8 💐 Happy Anniversary to you two, too! Your plans sound lovely too.

Nyon. It could be, anything that messes with your hormones can affect it, but just give it some time. Drink your water and really watch your carbs, it’ll come right. If it makes you feel any better I never get the ‘woosh’ and my scales haven’t budged. I even tried them (they’re not the greatest) holding a couple of water bottles this morning and they did go up, so 🤷🏻‍♀️ You might just be a slower starter like me. KOKO and focus on the other benefits this WOE will bring you 🌷(feel free to parrot that back to me when I’m whinging about my scales not budging!)

HeartyHooker I’m glad yours are better with this WOE. I’m hoping mine will too, if it does it’s another bloody good reason to stick to this WOE. I’m so ‘on and off’ low carbing it’s hard to know what’s what, but I’m determined to complete this BC. I’ll always LC to a degree, I just have to be better at the maintenance stage.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 16/05/2019 19:28

make your own after week 2 ends, of course Grin

TheWayOfTheWorld · 16/05/2019 19:30

@ChippingInLowCarbing I don't use a full on processor, I have a small pot which attaches to my stick blender. More than adequate for the job Smile

DrBuckles · 16/05/2019 19:35

I use the frozen cauli rice- mainly because I hate hate hate grating anything, even easy stuff like cheese but also because I don’t have it very often so it’s just handy to have a few picks in the freezer (I know the plastic is bad).

Did not get on with the shelf stable stuff at all, but the frozen is ok (sometimes a bit wet though)

HypatiaCade · 16/05/2019 19:42

When I just want a bit of cauliflower rice I use a grater. Can't be bothered digging out the food processor.

BIWI · 16/05/2019 19:50

Sainsbury's sell it fresh, if that's of any help?

OP posts:
WheelyCote · 16/05/2019 19:50

Im definately in keto today. Craving something sugary for energy and feel knackered. Drinking water is not quite cutting it
