So here we are!

Lots of us signed up this time, so inevitably the thread will move very quickly. Please, though, take the time to read the whole thread!. Although this is a place where you can post your daily menus, or your thoughts and questions, please don't just do this, but read what other people have posted too.

A bit thank you to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready who has set up the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. Star

The Spreadsheet

If your name isn't on there, don't panic! Just add yourself to the bottom of the list. Don't worry about trying to alphabetise it - that will be sorted out for you. (And if you're on the spreadsheet but don't want to be, don't worry - if you don't post on it your name will be taken off)

Here's a brief recap of the rules:

  1. Eat three proper meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat plenty of fat
  4. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

The full rules are here . They're supposed to be stickied at the top of the Low Carb Bootcamp topic (along with the recipe threads), but for some reason they're stickied at the top of page 2!

Remember that after the first two weeks we can relax some of this, and move on to Bootcamp Light, which means that you can add some fruit (berries mainly), alcohol (in moderation) and nuts and seeds (again, in moderation), but the point of the strict initial phase is to help push your body into burning fat for fuel rather than carbohydrate.

And remember - if you cheat, you will only be delaying this process from happening!

Good luck to everyone. Any questions or problems, just shout! Smile

Wow Greenbo, did you drink the pool?!

I feel I've done great today, and catching up on water now DC are in bed. This is my downfall time though - evening snacking and particularly on high carb food... toast, cereal, tea and biscuits.
Am drinking iced water and trying to tough it out!

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 15/05/2019 20:28

I've had such a hard bloody day, bloody head cold has set in on top of barely being able to walk and my hands being so sore all day... But I haven't leapt straight into the biscuits or chocolate, and the bottle of wine is still firmly done up, so I'm pleased. Will try to read all posts in a bit when kids are finally in bed.
B. Yoghurt
L. Salad, chicken with spinach, coleslaw, cucumber and avocado also had a boiled egg.
D. One of those chicken saag ready meals, was nice, with extra spinach. Plus had some leeks and courgettes. I only had half, it was a massive single portion, so only 4g of Carbs in total. Had dour cream with it.
Tea and some clotted cream. Hope I'm not overdoing the dairy.
Also frozen cous cous.. For the knee 😞

Rayna37 · 15/05/2019 21:00

bandit chia and all the other seeds go along with nuts: not for the first two weeks, fine after that.

m0therofdragons · 15/05/2019 21:12

Yay, supermarket shop arrived so my cupboards are re stocked and I can actually have decent food tomorrow.

KooMoo · 15/05/2019 21:23

@AthelstaneTheUnready Thank you for adding me to the spreadsheet.

SummerSazz · 15/05/2019 21:29

@ShagMeRiggins

All food and drink doing ok so far but not done my morning Pilates at all this week as recovering from my weekend away Hmm. So feeling a tad slothful and scales not moving. However I have PMT so should be glad they aren't going up!

Hoping to walk and swim tomorrow - swimming always makes me feel so much better Smile

Yoghurt for breakfast (at 11.30)
Tuna mayo salad with an egg for lunch
Curried chicken quarter (skin on), avocado and salad for dinner. Chicken was from Waitrose bbq range and the kids loved it. The skin went v crispy and moist chicken. Om nom 😁

Weekend away camping coming up but I'll deal with that when it arrives......

Sorry for no personal mentions but loving everyone's positivity SmileSmile

blackteaplease · 15/05/2019 21:45

Ooh I'm going camping soon too @SummerSazz. I was just pondering how to navigate that hurdle. I think I might live off tuna mayo and babybel for the duration with bagged salad on the side

SummerSazz · 15/05/2019 21:58

@blackteaplease camping hacks as follows although not all suitable for first two weeks......

Always cook a chilli for first night and eat with spinach with sour cream. Leftovers kept for when peckish (I love cold chilli!)

FF yoghurt for breakfast - just buy individual pots. Usually take bacon and eggs too so can bulk out of hungry

Buy ready cooked roast chicken drumsticks and thighs and eat with mayo and salad for lunch. Ditto take some hard boiled eggs.

BBQ dinner - 100% beef burger with mature cheese, bacon, gherkins and a slice of tomato. Nice with grilled pandano peppers and aubergine.

Snacks of pork scratchings and peanuts (not the latter this week though Confused)

Drinks of fizzy water, copious tea and G&T if not on strict boot camp.

I find the crisp fest the hardest tbh but luckily don't have a sweet tooth.

Have fun!

1Wildheartsease · 15/05/2019 22:02

BBQ foods are often good for camping AND low carb. Have a great time @blackteaplease and @SummerSazz

TheWayOfTheWorld · 15/05/2019 22:04

@blackteaplease I went camping recently too - I did bacon, mushrooms and spinach for breakfast, made up some egg mayo and tuna mayo for lunch and also some low carb choc mousse or raspberries with Greek yog/cream for pudding.

Dinners were bbqs so I had low carb sausages, burgers, salad, halloumi etc. I resisted all the rocky road and cake being handed out (as I had my mousse) and just steered clear of the crisps. Felt pretty chuffed with myself.

I am going to a wedding at the weekend, so that could be tricky....

prettybird · 15/05/2019 22:05

I've got a really big challenge coming up next week: 2 days at the London Wine Fair Shock I know I'll spit most of it - but I'll still be swallowing some alcohol Hmm

bandit34 · 15/05/2019 22:10

@Rayna37 thank you. Will hide them away c

KooMoo · 15/05/2019 22:18

@Flyingsouthwiththeswallows you’re very welcome.

mrwalkensir · 15/05/2019 22:19

Hi all - sliver of cheese for breakfast, the other half of last night’s chicken/veg/noodle thing today for lunch, then steak, mushrooms, spinach and a dash of coleslaw in the evening. Had forgotten about pork scratchings SummerSazz

littlebillie · 15/05/2019 22:53

Did you hear pm yesterday "truth about carbs" the low fat story wasn't even researched properly it's on iPlayer 15/5 PM at 5pm at 5 minutes and 44 seconds and again at 48 minutes - fascinating

felippertyfeck · 15/05/2019 23:15

A better day today! B.Mushrooms in butter, egg and chilli flakes L. 2 egg mayo slice of ham and salad. D. Avocado and salmon with more chilli flakes. A snack of cheese.

Not so much water today. Need to sleep in bed tonight and not the toilet Grin

Roll on day 5!

Sadiesnakes · 16/05/2019 05:29

Well headaches from hell and feel tired but otherwise feel good, no serious cravings apart from a blond brownie kids were having after their dinner and that took a lot of will power to ignore.

My blood ketone level is 0.3 but I usually take a week to get over 1.5, so not bad after 3 days I guess.

B: bacon and cheese omelet bites,
L: fresh mozzarella in spicy jalapeño oil.
D: Sirloin steak with rocket leaves and feta cheese.

blackteaplease · 16/05/2019 07:20

Thabks for the camping tips, it's only a 3 dayer but the big fortnight in France in August is always my nemesis for lchf.

Jackielaffertyiscold · 16/05/2019 07:32

I read that almond milk is ok on lchf, and had it with a lattee at Costa. A tip for those who.love their coffeeSmile

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/05/2019 07:36

I feel like I've been hit by a truck and my coffee tastes salty. Why does my coffee tastes salty??? 😩

WheelyCote · 16/05/2019 07:39

Morning everyone😴

DrBuckles · 16/05/2019 07:42

My turn for a headache this morning so started my day with 2 paracetamol, a bovril and water.

Felt really low last night- partly as I really fancied a McFlurry and partly as I really fancied some wine (I’m trying to be sober for reasons other than bootcamp too). I browsed Uber Eats and was so close. Instead I sulked a bit and then watched Taskmaster which cheered me up.

That’s some really big progress for me so feel quite proud!

WheelyCote · 16/05/2019 07:45

Gree have you drank any water?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/05/2019 07:48

Not yet, WheelyCote , but I drank nearly 4 litres, surely that counts for something?!

WheelyCote · 16/05/2019 07:48

Dont know what to have for breakfast so im having the low carb left over lasagne and black coffeeShock
